Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

we have the 30 second tvspot that cause more hype than a 2 minute trailer, it depends on what's going to be shown in these 1minute and 31 seconds, I hope it shows a lot of action.
it would be very strange again to trailer loaded with dialogue and with little action.
That's so strange. And all of Endgame's trailer/tv spot is nothing but dialogue. No action whatsoever. No major cgi shots.

so another teaser then.
ok Fox. lets see if you surprise the audience/fans with the material shown this time or not.
If they decide to place an official trailer with Captain Marvel, then I suspect this upcoming trailer may not be much different from the teaser trailer.

Fox has done very well to capture the fundamental struggle in the Xmen world and flesh out the human-mutant conflict in ways Disney would not have. I mean Disneys best attempt at this was supposed to be Civil War with the whole Superhero registration act and how humans started to fear the Avengers vigilantism but that story really didnt go anywhere.

However Fox has overplayed this card which is why so much of the focus has been on Magneto and Xavier. Failure to branch out to more diverse stories has resulted in the stagnation felt today. Disney will give us new characters and stories but whether they will dedicate focus on narrative substance remains in big question.

I suspect the trailer will be action based. The first trailer was very story based + given the last smaller run time (1.5 mins) I suspect it would be mostly new footage.

All I nag from this trailer is some shots from the space rescue mission and I think (if she is a character) they should reveal Chastains identity.

Yes, I hope so too.
no more reasons for so much mystery, we are 4 months from the movie, can not again be another "mysterious" trailer.
I would be happy if it were a trailer that focused a little more on the aliens and cyclops, storm and etc, and in the end quickly showed jean causing a great destruction.

Yes, but they have a greater support of the public and journalist, they can launch a trailer in the dark, mute and without action, that still will be a WONDER for most people. the first trailer for darkphoenix has more action than EG's first trailer, and only one was criticized for being "lukewarm" and without action, now it's time for Simon to shut down these criticisms (although he thinks that even if it's 1minute pure action, these people will criticize why they did not have dialogue).

then Fox can already forget about getting good numbers opening weekend.

I want storm, cyclops etc (I think the space scene would be great to show the, action).

As for Jean I was of the mindset of don't go full out by showing her as dark Pheonix till the trailer. The ending of the leaked Russian trailer would have been fine.

However given all the negativity surrounding this film (real or fake) I think they need to go full out and show her in Dark Pheonix glory.
And if there is any chance they are giving her the Dark Phoenix costume (Helas entire costume was CGI; so it is possible) they need to show that.

PSA: This is, from our understanding, a shortened version of the first trailer from September. NOT a brand new one. #DarkPhoenix

Because shortened trailers help fit more films in a single ad block. This is normally done for UK and international cinemas, the projectionist then chooses how to fill the specific time slot they have for trailers

It won't be online.

I knew it was gonna be the same trailer weve seen...ugh

if they put it online (a second trailer that has nothing new), even I'll complain about it.
it would not be logical to do this, only if they want the movie to die completely.

so no word from the latest screening.

That's oddly specific. Why that movie? It doesn't even have a good rotten tomato score. And why in selected theaters? What about The Lego Move: Part 2?

What do you think of the movie? You obviously know some stuff if not all.. I mean will the movie be a hit or miss? Anything you can think of can improve what you saw or know or read? xD Can you confirm Chastain is just a generic alien with traits of several characters thus being an "original" character?

Can’t confirm or deny any of that, or give my impressions publicly due to the NDA, so I preferred the “hot and cold” method. Look for my likes on posts on theories, that’s how I like to point out what’s a yes or no.

so no word from the latest screening.

It was full of Disney* employees and their friends, so there wouldn’t be any. The only reason why I started speaking out at all was because of the rediculousness being made up about it.

What is the one thing you folks are hoping to see translated really well from the comic arc? Anything from specific plot-line, character, or particular panel that would make for an amazing scene if translated well

Honestly...the space mission would be my #1 pick. After that I would have to say the relationship between Jean & Scott, I just want atleast one sincere & dramatic moment between them (with great acting of course). Jean & Scott relationship & dialogue was always dramatic IN MY OPINION, so I hope to see that..especially when she takes off his glasses.

Focus in Jean as a character (her struggle with with the force and the dark Pheonix) and her relationship with Scott.

Purely from an action/ visual perspective:

- Jean absorbing the force in the space. Based on the descriptions and from what we have seen in the trailer it looks like it's going to be a visually stunning and highly emotional scene.

-Storm vs Jean. If it happens it could be an amazing scene. Storm has never really went toe to toe with a combatant in the films. Given Jeans power it could be an excellent fight as Storm can't hold back.

Is there's gonna be a road action scene like when Magneto rescued Mystique, I kinda liked that.

And I'm already anticipating
Magneto: Red Lotus, use your dreadlocks and target those weapons

if there's 1 thing from X3 that I want them to redo is the Danger Room training. Obviously we aren't getting that because they got so much out of the danger room in Apocalypse oh wait...

Captain Marvel and Dark Phoenix were always going to end up in competition with each other because of their similarities in having women leads, skrull aliens and originally similar release dates.

In one aspect, how do people feel about the marketing of Dark Phoenix from a feminist POV? Captain Marvel is obviously pushing quite strongly with its first superheroine angle and strong, independent female lead, much like Wonder Woman did. So far for Dark Phoenix I haven't seen or felt that. Its being marketed as any normal Xmen movie wheras Kinberg has repeatedly said this is Jeans film, she is front and centre and shes on all the posters. Should Fox be making more of a deal about this and honing in attention to the fact this film is the Captain Marvel/Wonder Woman of their franchise?

First of all, Dark Phoenix hasn’t really begun marketing. Aside from a teaser, a poster, some interviews and a few promo stills, there’s not really much of anything. There’s no merchandising, clips, tv spots - why? Because the film is still four months away! Marketing doesn’t really start until the last few months before the movie’s release.

Jean isn’t just the protagonist like Wonder Woman or Captain Marvel, she’s also one of the villains. That makes marketing her a bit more difficult. “Come watch this movie with an empowering female lead... who will probably kill a bunch of innocent people. Girl power!” I don’t know, that doesn’t really sound all that good to me.
