Beautiful!
I wasn't a fan of the trajectory the character was taken in as the franchise "progressed" but it can't be denied Anna really did look like Rogue at the very end of her stint there.
Yeah I knew Anna had it in her to play Rogue the way we all wanted and it’s such a shame they never let her do that.

The smartEST decision would've been to release this in November or February with no competition. People actually commended the production for moving the movie to those months (the former more so than the latter).

Releasing this in the summer with all the other big movies is never the best option. We've seen how movies cannibalize each other in the summer months and the X-men movies are notorious for making MOST of their box office on opening weekend but declining substantially on its second weekend.

The last two X-men movies have declined 65-66% on its second weekend.

Men in Black International is gonna bomb super hard, so that should help it. This is gonna, unfortunately, hurt Godzilla 2 though.

I’m going to be away on a trip when Dark Phoenix comes out so I wont be able to watch opening weekend :(

The first release date of November 2nd was perfect since thats a day after my birthday lol

Toy Story 4 is the week after Men in Black though
Yeah, at worst toy story 4's gonna do like $350m domestic. That will definitely hurt it, especially as it skews more 4-quad than the kid's only Secret Life Of Pets.

I also think MIB will have an unexceptional box office run (I don't know about "bomb." I doubt this movie's budget is anywhere near Dark Phoenix's $200Mil) but that doesn't mean Dark Phoenix will all of a sudden over perform and have a good second weekend. We've all been to this dance before.

Apocalypse was followed by TMNT 2 (which opened at $35Mil and an RT score of 37%) and X:A still had a steep 66% decline on its second weekend (at $22Mil). Most people who want to watch an X-men movie rush out its first weekend. That combined with the franchise's diminishing returns can't sound good to Fox. Which makes the decision to go head-to-head with another big franchise its first weekend (Pets) all the more dumb.

The irony of course is that Godzilla, DPh and MIB are all courting the same demographics but apparently DPh will buck the Fox franchise's trend and have better staying power than previous X-men movies. Because Reasons.

Yes, Pixar releasing a fourth movie is a headscratcher but the last movie was very well received. There will be a sizeable gap between first and second place in the box office the weekend this movie comes out. This would be DPh's third weekend and it will be lucky to score anything over $8Mil

Though I am excited to see what Marvel do with the X-Men, I can’t lie it’s quite sad to see this grande old dame go. That legacy trailer was good, and I think it’s a shame that this film is coming out to the death bell.
I've thoroughly enjoyed this X-Men series. There have been some missteps but it's still one of my favourite cinematic superhero franchises.

Disney is really billing this as the end of a 20 year franchise. Smart.

Cool prize, would like one myself but anyone looking to enter the contest should read the contest eligibility "Rules." You must be a US resident and even then, it's only from a handful of states.

The amount of money being poured in the marketing right now is surprising.

Disney must be feeling confident about something. Either the quality of the film or their early estimates of the international market.
