Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

For some reason the Lauren Puntillo account has been deleted.

So it was a fake account?

No Dark Phoenix trailer next week?

"she" had posted today the image with "9 days"

but after the account was deleted, I do not know if it was really fake or a way to create some kind of buzz, but I hope it's true and next week has the first trailer.
take longer than that, will only feed bad rumors, because missing less than 5 months, without trailer, without official poster and etc, will not be good signal.

maybe you should start accepting the fact that the movie easily has serious issues. u know? its the very first x-men movie delayed in the 18 years of the franchise, so that should give you a little clue. and with a first time director (that also is a mediocre writer, that was also involved in the panned f4 reboot)

if all of this doesnt tell u something, well... I dont know what more do you need lol

I think everyone here already understands that you hate simon, and that you think he is mediocre, horrible and etc

but I will continue to wait for the trailer to evaluate his work and hoping that all this delay is for a good reason, and if the film really has problems I hope they will be quickly resolved ..but I will stay positive.
people cheering for this film to be a failure already has in great quantity.
:D

You can also evaluate his work with the films he was credited as a writer... I mean he's been a writer for over a decade now. That's something you cannot brush off.

If I said the trailer of Captain Marvel would have come first before Dark PhoeniX, few would have believed me. This is not Logan and Simon Kinberg is not James Mangold. The movie is delayed and there's still no trailer? Geez.

you are mixing two different things:

thinking Kinberg is a mediocre writer (as most critics agree) is not wishing this movie to fail. Thats a pretty childish assumption.

I want the X-Men, my fave comic and superhero team, to be a hit and popular and beloved by everyone, in all countries, I want them to be huge and great.

But........... this is Fox and Kinberg is not the man to make them justice, as we all have already seen. So no, its not just hate for the sake of hating, its just being realistic and accepting the facts: he is mediocre and Fox has wasted half the X-Men. and there is nothing you can say or do to change that. none of us can change the past and Fox mistakes over the 18 years. What is done is done, and Kinberg has been involved since 2005, just when the problems started.
Its fine to be positive, but to be blind its not that cool once you watch the movie and realize he still has the same problems in his scripts.

you can be sure that if the movie is really bad, or if tomorrow you have an advertisement that the movie has again experienced a new date change
I'll be one of the first to come here to criticize all this mess.

but I do not like to make early judgments, you have reasons to criticize him, I have too, because I always criticized the xmen movies for not giving more scenes to the storm, for not treating well some characters and for the excess focus on wolverine .. but I'd rather wait, have everything to go wrong? Yes, but can it be good and surprise everyone? yes, too ... so I'm waiting and hoping that the problems are solved quickly and that in the next few days have the first trailer, official photos, posters and etc, so that everyone can evaluate their first job as director, if everything this is bad, you can be sure that I will not spend my money on it and I will not even pretend it's wonderful.

I don't know why people keep getting their hopes up for a trailer soon. There would be word out of one was due.

I don't know why they don't just release that trailer they've shown at conventions. Or the one Minka Kelly was raving about. It's not like they don't have ready footage, otherwise they wouldn't have shown that. They had an opportunity to release it with Fox's The Predator.

Anyway for comparison's sake, Fox's Red Sparrow starring JLaw released February 15th EDIT: March the 2nd actually (Dark Phoenix is releasing Feb 14th next year) and its first teaser was released September 14th 2017. And that was an R-rated spy movie, not a blockbuster like Dark Phoenix. What's the hold up?

From people who have been following accounts from twitter: Storm's stunt double Rochelle Okoye, Jessica Chastain and Producer Hutch Parker have wrapped their reshoots. Word on the street is that crew members are wrapping up the entirety of reshoots. So, obviously doesn't seem to be as extensive as rumors led to believe.

Curious to see how they approach the trailer with it's sci-fi thriller vibe. The VFX should be on point at this stage (and likely look cool based on some reactions from those who have already seen it). Can't wait to see how the more serious tone translate because I did not like the tone for Captain Marvel trailer and don't want to see that for MCU's version of X-men when they start making their movies. I was nervous that Dark Phoenix trailer would have a hard time going up against Captain Marvel's first trailer debut, but I honestly was underwhelmed. I was expecting more given all the hype they built up for Captain Marvel. The trailer seemed at times, very TV-ish to me personally (like the Flash) especially the last shot with her powers. And then other montage shots reminded me of those generic military recruitment videos "We want You". I don't know, I just didn't feel it. Wasn't blown away like I was with the first Guardian of the Galaxy, Thor Ragnarok, Black Panther trailers.

Hope Dark Phoenix invest more in their first trailer than that. They already have an uphill battle after Singer's Apocalypse and all the online negativity for Dark Phoenix. But I'm eager to finally get a sense of Kinberg's visual and directing style and how that translates with Lee Smith's editing and Mauro Fiore cinematography, and how well Kinberg can utilize visual effects. We will see.

This would be a better comparison. The first trailer for Apocalypse came out in December and was released in May (5 months). Logan in October and was released in March (5 months). Deadpool 2 was 6 months if you count the Bob Ross one since there was very little footage of the actual movie. Seems like they've been pretty consistent with when they release trailers for the past few years. Next week will make it exactly 5 months until Dark Phoenix is released so if it's not out by then, then I'd say it's unusual.

Not quite. Look at The Predator. The first trailer debut 4 months before the film's release. So, they're obviously changing their tactics and marketing scheduling. However, my bet is that the trailer will be released somewhere by the end of September right before NYCC and in time for Venom. They obviously had a trailer put together which has already been shown back in June. TrailerPark.com is likely working on a new trailer, based on a tweet from someone who claimed to have seen a rough cut. So it appear to be down to the marketing schedule for when Fox decide to hit the 'go button'.

I mean with the X-Men related films, not Fox in general.

My point was that Fox doesn't seem to be adhering to their marketing scheduling in past years (which include the x-men films).

If the reshoots strengthen Chastain's role as the villain in the movie that will pay off big. It would be a big win and good final note for Xmen franchise to have Chastain elevate the role of a villain in a comic book movie.

Convention presentations are usually for a different audience, targeted to industry professionals. Conventions like CineEurope usually do exclusive studio screenings and product presentations. It's typically promotion in order to get eyes on your product internationally from industry professionals in Cinema (this include brand partners, etc). A separate trailer will usually be shown to general audiences. You know..........usually.

Just trying to figure out which villain she's actually playing. I like her eerie appearance.

Rumours are the alien species is The Brood now, the screenings never outright stated what they were.. just greyish, I'm not sure if they were talking about the motion suits. They also said she was just some random person at a lake house the generic alien invades when they land and whatever she is shifts into Chastain form and infiltrates the Government as 'Agent Smith'. She has been described as clinical, manipulates Jean, Kinberg's caption of her on ig was hypnotic, so definitely some powers of persuasion. I hope she is Cassandra Nova and I hope we get an Xavier vs Nova screen. Wasn't a working title or code name for Dark Phoenix Super Nova?

I am hoping this ties up the Fox verse neatly. I am anticipating this movie despite the sheer mediocrity of Apocalypse with its absolutely horrible action scenes

Looks like the reshoots are done. Jessica Chastain, Rochele Okoye (Storm stunt double) and Hutch Parker have wrapped their reshoots.

Sophie Turner is not in Montreal anymore according to this picture from Joe Jonas IG story.

So it was two weeks reshoots. So much for 3 months :whatever:

Collider was right. @EnDz0n3

It comes out in five months. Even Godzilla already had a trailer out and that comes out three months later than this one. Shazam! has a trailer, Captain Marvel, Dumbo.... Okay. Take your time and let other films get the spotlight.

Well a 3 month reshoot doesn't make sense for a film set in a film series that is about to be rebooted.

I wasn't thrilled with the CM trailer, which fell short of the brilliant initial MCU teases for Ragnarok, Thor and Infinity War. But I don't think a direct comparison between DP and CM will do the former any favors. DP is about a young woman who gains awesome powers, becomes mentally unhinged and murders her teammates. CM is about a young woman who gains awesome powers and becomes an Thanos-punching superhero. I'm not sure Writer/Producer/Director Simon Kinberg will want to compare the two flicks.

CM trailer will probably dark Phoenix's trailer out of the water.
