Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

I’m definitely not seeing this in theaters now.

Anyone else feel an odd sense of... relief? This movie is going to tank. And then the Fox-men will be over. And hopefully in the next decade we will finally get an X-men movie that hopefully won’t just use characters as walk-on special effects and a villain that isn’t Magneto.

While I won't deny that this franchise has problems, and I understand that some people are happy it's over, this is still a view I can't really get behind. The end of the Fox X-men movies was inevitable, but I do think they deserved to a least go out on a high note. It's still the franchise that gave us X2, First Class, DOFP, Logan, Deadpool, Legion, and hopefully New Mutants, which still looks interesting to me.

So, I’ve now seen the film....

Let’s just say this makes The Last Stand look like Logan.

TERRIBLE.

Tommy Wiseau could have written a better script and plotted a better film. Even the previous film was superior and I didn’t think you could get any worse than that.

Honestly, I’ve never been so bored in my life and the script is so shamelessly full of needless toxic feminism (the kind that makes good women look bad) I almost walked out.

I know. I hate that we could be years away.

Spidey fans really got lucky after ASM2

We didn’t get lucky, we got Fiege :cwink:

In all seriousness, it sucks we have to wait a few years to see the X-men done properly but now Marvel Studios has full, unfettered access to their entire library. I actually think in the long run it’s going to be better for X-men fans than us Spider-man fans.

This shows that Kinberg has no talent. This time he does not have Singer or Vaugh to hide his mistakes.
or Ratner or Trank.

lmao, if he gets to write another Marvel movie after four misfires... thats not even counting the other films he cowrote.

wow, 18% at Rotten Tomatoes right now??

not surprised. Kinberg should have been fired 13 years ago. I would slap him in the face. a**w****

MCU X-men can't come soon enough.
McU would keep me busy for the neXt five years with their annual releases, while Sony would fill in the FoxMarvel role/place assuming they have more than 3 films to release in the next 3 to 5 years.

I'm gonna miss the X-Men's presence in the movies as five years could be such a long time from today especially a lot can happen in my personal life. But a five year break in the movie industry doesn't seem long since we are getting so many other Marvel movies in the neXt five years. For example, I cantbelieve its been five years since Days of Future Past.

And I think I'd rather have zero X-Men film in five years than witness Kinberg singlehandly destroy the ips more with a Dark PhoeniX sequel and those other spin offs he was overseeing.

There was no doubt in my mind that Dark PhoeniX is going to be worse than X3. X3 wasn't directed and solely written by Kinberg.

Also, i wonder how Kinberg and the cast are gonna react to this. Chastain at the red carpet, was saying that X3 didn't really live up to the Dark Phoenix story like as if this film is gonna be a superior film.

The worst part about all of this isnt even that the FoXmen are going out on a sour note. The worst part about this is the Dark Phoenix story is officially dead and you can bet your tucchus that this storyline aint ever gonna be touched again because it is now officially tainted goods.

Really sad to see the franchise going out on such a sour note.
Now it’s always going to have a bad rep, which sucks because I think a good chunk of the films have been good-great, but people will only focus on the negative.
Let’s hope the new X-Men series comes sooner rather than later.

Even before this, I was sort of fatigued on this story. So for me, that is a good thing. We can actually explore Jean in more creative ways now.

I have been lurking here on this board. Thinking when it will be the best time to join and this is it.

Let me just say this movie was bad but am glad its over.

I already said Days of Future Past was already the best ending to the series. Logan a perfect epilogue to end all ends, leaving a mark to remind folks why X-Men 2000 was a game changing movie for comic movies.

Even if I always knew Dark Phoenix was always going to be bad it is still shocking to see how bad.

Kinberg has finally been exposed for the fraud he is. He has gone for so long taking credit for Deadpool, DOFP, First Class and Logan. movies he only has his name attached to and none of the hard work that is credited to Mathew Vaughn, James Mangold, Bryan Singer,Tim Miller.

He should never have been allowed to make this movie. Reading the reviews the obvious is there. this is a first time director who has a lot to learn.

I don't think it will have a bad rep due to the unique circumstances

1. the movie was pushed back twice
2. Disney bought Fox
3. Logan is already the ending to most people since Jackman was the franchise
4. X-Men is now in the MCU waiting for a debut

I don't think the bad rep is going to be as bad as what suicide squad or amazing spiderman 2 or even batman and robin did that you have to do a 180 but still Kinberg should never work again until he goes to a film school and learns how to write and direct.

I’m still debating on if I’m going to use my free movie pass ticket for this or see Avengers Endgame for the ninth time this weekend.

Well...I know which you will probably enjoy more :o
