Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

Marvel Studios dont have the guts to make a compelling drama based movie about Jean Grey so this Dark Phoneix movie is going to be the best attempt at a character centric story of Jean Grey for a long time. Look at how flimsly they treated Tony Starks PTSD story arc in Iron Man 3.

I'm quite happy Marvel doesn't have the guts to show a female hero falling to pieces after a power boost.

And Kinberg may have the guts. But he ain't got the talent.

Do they usually release a teaser poster with a trailer?? If so what were dofp and apoc respectively??

II think Dark Phoenix is going to be a tough sell. The story of a young woman who has a mental breakdown after gaining great power was a big deal way back when it was published. But it was a tad outdated even back then

Honestly that isn't outdated. its probably more real and relevant today as ever.

What it isn't, is a hollywood trend. its not the trend of badass female who can kick a room of 10 guys ass without a scratch while her only dilemma in life being her love life. you know because she is a strong independent women

I remember for The Avengers they had Black Widow seem like she had this fear of the hulk and i thought that was quite an interesting and brave way to go and honestly i think that would have been ok aslong as she at some point had to step up and over come that fear... instead the 2nd film came out and suddenly she was a hulk whisperer with no build up to it at all. its like they chickened out of the idea with the fear it made her look weak.

Just watched DEADPOOL 2.......there is a scene in it where
the X-Men appear in a room behind him. Just read that it was filmed with the real actors while they were filming DARK PHOENIX. So....both movies were being filmed at the same time.....but DeadPool2 has already been released to theaters, did a decent run, and has now been released on DVD....and people are still wondering when a trailer will be released for Dark Phoenix.

So what's the good word on this trailer? Yay? Or Nay?

Some people said it was yesterday and then people said "tomorrow"... well tomorrow is today!

Where's the teaser posters, at least?

To be fair Deadpool 2 was out way before Dark Phoenix anyway, so the trailer for DP was always gonna come much later.

You miss my point.....both movies being made at same time....but one has already been released to theaters and now DVD.....while the other one has been delayed for one reason or another.

See, this is why people need to keep their expectations in check. People have been saying "oh it will be just around the corner" and now some are pulling "oh it's tomorrow" out of their asses. Best not to get hysterical guessing and just wait for it to come.

Both films had the same production schedule: June to Oct 2017. So there’s no excuses in that regard.

The former in Vancouver, the latter in Montreal. Deadpool 2 was moved up 2 weeks (from June 1 to May 18). Dark Phoenix was delayed 3 months.

You can read into the eventual quality of the film from that, if you want.

It's almost as if certain writers can be terrible directors?

All the actors are available as far as I know. So can we now put to rest the "2 weeks reshoots spread out over 3 months" nonsense?

These reshoots should fly right on by. Surely they'll wrap filming by mid September. If this goes on til October then we know someone was lying...

Where was this info published? In an interview in mid-July with the CEO of Bureau du cinéma et de la télévision du Québec published by La Presse.

In that same interview, the CEO Pierre Moreau, has said the production had to make the move since the originally scheduled reshoots for Dark Phoenix have been expanded from 2 weeks to 3 months (another film had MELS Studio reserved).

That's the same interview the writers over Collider have unceremoniously dismissed as "Fake News." That's the same MANY OF YOU here have dismissed as "Fake News."

If we're keeping a count:
La Presse = 1
Collider = 0

Collider = 1
EnDz0n3 = 0

If not next week then it'll probably be sometime in the middle of October. The page who reported that a trailer was shown and that it was epic & mysterious said we will probably see a trailer in one or two weeks.

I thought people were tired of MCU talk here but now everyone wants to have their say on Captain Marvel.

So it's fair game to talk about MCU X-Men here again?

Really? Still? Gosh dang it... I thought the 3 months of reshoots were over.

I expect this trailer to do way more "blowing up" of the internet than Captain Marvel did, mostly on account of Dark Phoenix having very low expectations and zero buzz. I also do think we are going to see some great action scenes teased. I liked the Captain Marvel teaser a lot, but I think Fox needs to come out with more than teaser to get the buzz for this film up from the ground. In my mind there's only a few possible reasons we haven't gotten any marketing, and one of them is that Fox may not be 100% sure about the Feb 14th release date yet given the film is not completed.

What's the point though? They're going to be absorbed into Disney anyways... what's the point in biting the hand that'll eventually feed it?

What are you even talking about? The point is the movie was made and now it's about time to put it out. Fox's current film slate has nothing to do with Disney, and the idea that them releasing this movie somehow hurts Disney or delay's Disney's X-Men plans, is illogical. No matter what Disney's first proper X-Men film is a good 3+ years away, so have fun waiting. In the meantime I'll be anticipating Dark Phoenix and getting increasingly hyped for it as the release gets closer, otherwise I wouldn't be posting here ;)

I think Dark Phoenix is going to be a tough sell. The story of a young woman who has a mental breakdown after gaining great power was a big deal way back when it was published. But it was a tad outdated even back then - Why didn't Norrin Radd go insane when he was granted the power cosmic? Or Don Blake when he picked up Mjolnir? And the years have not been kind. Moviegoers are much more likely to want to see gals who CAN handle their awesome abilities, like Diana and Carol, than to once again watch Jean's downward spiral on the big screen.
Oh, so showing hero falling apart is somehow more outdated and unoriginal than hero kickin' someone's butt?
I'm quite happy Marvel doesn't have the guts to show a female hero falling to pieces after a power boost.
Actually, that kind of attitude explains a lot about your opinions. Like, yeah, who needs those dark, compelling character-driven drama films, all comic book movies are supposed to be fun and lighthearted, we are only here for some mindless flashy action and quips! Yay!
