Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

Domino was the best part of DP2 in my opinion. Differences from the comics can be great if they are smart and justified. Look at Spider-man Homecoming.

Thats debatable really, but then so is any change. Personally i was abit put off by Spideys talking advice giving Jarvis suit. It didn't seem like spider-man at all to have an AI backing him up at all times.

But then people are usually at their most comfortable with either what they have seen previously or something source related. it doesn't mean changes are bad or not allowed but you just kinda have to just judge something for what it is and not what you wanted it to be.

No they weren't Wolverine Storm Jean Iceman Rogue Cyclops (promos) had the exact same design as the previous version in X2...

No they weren’t. For instance look at Jean at Alkali lake. She didn’t have a bright pink detail on her shoulder pads and belt X in X2 and then in X3 when she came out of the lake, she did. Small color changes like that were how they got away with using the same costumes with a different designer. Hence them being not the same costume.

Wasn't that what you did with Deadpool 2?

Well, it was my strong feeling that this is what happened when we had very familiar Fox bad habits returning - classic characters undeveloped and hurriedly killed off, pointless cameos...

That could all be down to the Deadpool 2 director but when this has been happening in many of Fox's X-Men movies that did not involve that director, it begins to look like there were other influences at work, hence my suspicion of producers and executives having a heavy hand in it.

(Another thing that bothers me is the bad language in these films. What worked so well in X-Men First Class when Wolverine uttered the F-bomb and brought the house down has never really worked as well since, yet in each film we now have to have the obligatory 'F-bomb scene'. It fell flat in DoFP and didn't really add anything to X-Men: Apocalypse. The filmmakers should be asking if it adds anything to the scene, not just putting it in there just because...

Deadpool can get away with more irreverent language but i didn't think all the C-word cursing was necessary in Deadpool 2. It didn't feel natural, it felt like the studio trying to ramp up everything that was in the first film, including the cursing)

What you said is irrelevant to my statement......which you replied to. Maybe I need to explain this more carefully so you GET it: I DON'T CARE HOW MARVEL OR FOX APPROACH THEIR ADAPTATIONS. That wasn't the point of my statement. Do you comprehend? None of what you said still won't change the fact that Marvel's version will be different from the comics. Whether its Fox.....or Marvel.....they BOTH CHANGE THE MATERIAL. I don't need a long fanatical thesis on why you feel one is better than the other, as if justification is needed. Just acknowledge that both studios make changes. Period. End of story.

While it's true that both studios make changes, you are clearly attempting to justify any Fox changes by saying: "See, the MCU does it too'

What I'm saying is that it's not that simple. The approaches of each studio are very different.

Fox has done some great stuff in its films but it has also done some things that have crossed the line by changing the very essence of who some of these characters are.

An MCU version of Dark Phoenix would be different - and it would NEED to be different because of Fox's upcoming version of the story. The Fox adaptation would force the MCU to alter things more than they normally would, in order to make it more distinctive. To be honest, I doubt Disney/MCU would touch the Phoenix/Dark Phoenix story for some time, if at all.

My first thought yesterday when he psted that she was "shadowing" him was... "WHY?"

Like... you're shadowing a director who is working on his first ****ing movie? Yeah, you can really learn a lot!

My first thought from reading this post is "Who cares?"

Or maybe in general you are assuming a small minority share a view that is actually more a majority when it comes to creative minds making these movies.

Sometimes people will make movies and do something you may not like. its just how it works. yes James Mangold could have put Wolverine in his comic outfit for his final movie but he didn't. probably wasn't fox telling him not to give Wolverine a colorful outfit, it was likely him who made that decision and yes it probably did disappoint some fans but it is what it is.

Funny enough i actually thought Deadpool 2 was far softer than the first deadpool movie. alot of the humor wasn't so R-rated this time

In the first one it felt like they were trying to justify the rating with non-stop swearing and sex jokes whenever deadpool was on screen.

McAvoy habla sobre Jean Gray y Mystique.

Minka is probably to busy to play Dove oh well. None of the new cast members for this sequel are interesting, to get me eXcited.

Nope. You did that on your own. My comment doesn't attempt to justify anything. It stated a fact. I never mentioned Fox and what they do...or how they do it.....or my opinions about it. I kept the subject on MCU just the same as the comment I replied to. It doesn't matter what approach a studio uses, that doesn't change the fact that they make changes from the comic. My comment said nothing about the way they approach it. Film is simply a separate medium and some people don't understand that. I'm not a studio fan. I like things that both studios have done, but I also dislike things from both studios. I have little interest in studio wars.

Your reply to ehhh's post was obviously meant to discourage him from being enthusiastic about an MCU Dark Phoenix. You can pretend not to make a judgement call on it all you want but we all know that's not the case.

Wow, I’m impressed with the new layout, it’ll be a lot of fun whenever the trailer decides to appear wherever.

And also is Minka gonna play Shadowcat in a post credits scene? (I mean I get the picture is shadowy, but you never know when these people start with their puns)

I suppose it could be, but wouldn't it be kinda weird since Jean, Cyclops and Nightcrawler are younger?

This is the Kinbergverse, anything your heart desires can happen...

Minka as Shadowcat and older than Jean, Scott, Ororo..... Given how messy this franchise is. I wouldn't be shocked. But then thank God, for the Disney buy out that there won't be a continuation to this even if it gets a theatrical release.... Which brings me to its first trailer. Its already September and there's none. Not even a trailer rating or a teaser poster. Clearly, if it gets a theatrical release, it would be treated as a throwaway.

Doubtful, but also why would Shadow cat be part of an end credit scene? id imagine there would be better ones to go for.

I wouldn't read to much into the photo.

I really am not reading too much into it, but my mind just went there and connected it to the Shadowcat movie they announced a while ago, besides you never know how much are they trying to tease in case of a last minute problem with the buyout. Again, it's crazy pun-based speculation.

At this point those ideas (Kitty/Dark Phoenix sequels/New Mutants trilogy/Gambit/X-23/Multiple Man) are all done and would be canned by Marvel Stud10s as soon as Fox is now 100% under Disney. Marvel would likely streamline Marvel movies now that they've got Fox, and if there's a priority from the reacquired properties it would like focus on the X-Men team, and not solos. Deadpool 3: X-Force might get released but even the development for that has been quiet ever since Doj's approval. Anyway, its really weird that there's still no trailer.... Like the trailers for Captain Marvel and summer films would likely debut their trailers in October to December. Don't tell me Dark PhoeniX is dropping theirs in those months only for other films to further steal its thunder.
