Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

Your problem seems less about what you are getting and more about who you are getting it from.

Translation: I don't have a problem with X-men, I have a problem with Kinberg.

Was that supposed to be an insult against me and all the people on the boards who are first and foremost X-men fans and don't want hacks like Kinberg to tackle their favourite characters?

Because that was a pretty bad #SelfOwn.

Is Fassbender strongly against dying his hair gray or something?? Like they have temporary ones you just rub in your hair and look believable. Its such a small but easy thing to do, it just bothers me XD

Fassbender should have kept his hair the way it was in First Class.

The point is that Singer has shown that he has the talent and can churn out X2's and The Usual Suspects's. If he put his all to it. Apocalypse and Jack The Giant Slayer is what happens when he doesn't.
That only validate the fact that he was responsible for the film's failure. It also show that making good films in the past doesn't mean your next film will equally be good either. Apocalypse and Jack The Giant Slayer among others highlight that Singer also has bad judgement with making movies.

You didn't believe the Fant4stic rumours so it doesn't matter if you heard Apocalypse ghost-directing rumours. You wouldn't believe them anyways since they don't fit your narrative, CKtoP33.
No need to believe false Fantastic4 rumors. It was already revealed who took over duties for reshoots and Kinberg was busy alongside Singer working on Apocalypse. You simply choose to be willfully ignorant for obvious reason.

Your go-to is always that you don't believe in rumours. But most of the stuff you know of this movie are from rumours and tweets on the interwebs. Conveniently you choose to believe (and share on the boards) the positive rumours.
Ha! The movie not being canceled must be rumor. Never mind a certain individual on this forum claiming to be an insider who was SO SURE we'd get an announcement by Disney of the film's demise. Crew members, stunt doubles, producers all tweeting their status on reshoots must be a rumor. It's all fake news! We must never speak anything positive of the movie. It's too convenient , according to Endzo.....

You already admitted that you don't "have to defend his filmography." So this whole post was moot.
um......my post didn't even mention anything in his filmography that I'm aware of. I believe the topic of said post accurately explained that filmography (which YOU brought up, not me) isn't a determination for the success or failure of a movie. So.........

It wasn't meant to be an insult. Its just the way these things come across at times for the various reasons i mentioned in my 2 previous posts.

We've already seen the logo for Dark Phoenix. And it's not that.

Yes Apocalypse was ultimately Singer's failure along with his writers, one of whom is still here: Writing, producing and directing this movie.

If that thought fills you with positive thoughts of Dark Phoenix then good for you, I guess.

Are you really trying to sell the idea that Kinberg was never on the set of Fant4stic for it to be possible for him to ghost-direct it? Did Singer lock up Kinberg (along with Harris and Dougherty) in that room from December 2013 til Apocalypse wrapped in January 2016 never to leave their Apocalypse story sessions?

Talk about blameless.

So it comes across that I want what's best for X-men and that includes not being ok with hacks like Kinberg working on them? You really got me there.

Kinberg's abilities as a director are unproven sure, but lit's hard to overlook how terrible his screenwriting history is. Looking at the directors who have collaborated with him, those films are often the biggest blights in their directorial careers. Either that, or they're bad directors themselves (cough McG cough). 'Days Of Future Past' is Kinberg's sole redeeming credit as a writer.

I'm always happy to see chess in X-Men. I agree about Fassbender's hair though. C'mon now, he's basically a pensioner by now and a character with distinctive white hair.

Charles and Eric together? And playing chess? Oh my god, that's so original, unique and unseen! I'm so excited to see it!!!

Not my fault Kinberg can't come up with something more interesting for them to do.

We're back to repeating scenes from 2000. Give ME a break!
getting mad at Charles and Erik playing chess is kind of well......stupid IMO. It's like getting mad at Tony Stark and Pepper arguing. It's part of their character. What would you have them do dig up Superman's grave? XD

Have we been seeing Tony and Pepper arguing since 2000?

It would be stupid to complain about the act of Eric and Charles having conflicts of ideology because that is part of the character. But you know quite well that out frustration comes from exploring their relationship again. Something done ad nauseam in this franchise. And if repeating this again wasn't enough, they're playing chess again. That's how creative your writer/director is.

But...whatever. It will be over soon.

Are we sure Kinberg knows how to play chess? It looks like only pawns are left on the board.

I'm expecting a groan-inducing line about "pawns" in the script and it's giving me X3 flashbacks.

Tony and Pepper are a couple though so them arguing and going through their relationship makes sense for the characters. Now Charles and Erik clashing over their separate ideology is always going to be apart of the characters even I’m sure when rebooted at Marvel. But like others have stated it’s the issue now where the same thing is being done and shown in every movie since 2000. It is a bit overdone at this point. Of course the two characters are going to interact with each other but I’m sure they can do it without it having to be over a game of chess lol.

Charles and Erik playing chess has been a staple of their relationship since the beginning of the franchise. It’s only fitting that they continue the tradition at the end of it as well. It would be completely out of character for them to randomly be doing something else.

Maybe people would prefer a dance off between the two.....:cwink::oldrazz:

People are...literally complaining about an Erik/Xavier chess scene.

:wall:

If you couldn’t perceive my tone in the last post, it was more of a “haha sorry, silly me” type of thing so not really leaving any room for back and forth there. As someone who has been active here well over 12 years with so few posts as I, interactions through the years stand out a lot more, ya know?
You just need to stop making stuff up regarding posters, its not a good look.
At least from the most recent interview from Bob Iger… All Marvel stuff will go to Kevin Feige as Iger puts it, "... it only makes sense." In the end, it all rests on his shoulders once everything is set in place.

And you're right, the merger might not be done in time before Dark Phoenix comes out. So it could come out... and all is fine. This is new and unexplored territory very everyone, fans, both companies, productions, etc.

And to be honest, with New Mutants almost seemingly being non-existence in our minds... like you said, Dark Phoenix may be the only X-Men movie we will have for a while.
Even though waiting could be tiring and eXhausting, I'd rather wait for a proper X-Men film than to see Deadpool 3, Dark PhoeniX sequel, Gambit, X-23, Kitty Pryde, X-Force, Multiple Man and whatever Kinberg was planning.

They should be playing Backgammon instead! NeXt thing, they'd repeat the same lines from X2, Dofp or worse TLS.

Dark Phoenix is going to be a nice boost for an industry looking for something unique. The biggest problem with Xmen Apocalypse was it was too formulaic and the combat sequences were terrible.

If Dark Phoenix uses combat sequences that really are more dynamic and wider in scope it would make it more a cinematic experience than CW action.
Retreading X3 isn't going to look unique. While aliens (and shape shifting) in a superhero film is hardly fresh.

I’m still holding on to some positivity for this film. I’ll always love the cast and this series. I’m very excited for what’s to come when Marvel take over and I’m just hoping that there’s at least enough of a decent send off and end to this franchise. I’m not expecting Dark Phoenix to be on the level of First Class, X2, DOFP. I’m expecting a similar formulae to the film as we’ve seen previously. I’m just hoping there’s enough of a decent story and character that it will pass for a fun time at the movies. I think we all at least want that before it starts fresh at Marvel. I’ll give Kinberg the benefit of the doubt at the moment but I’ll also not hold out hope he will be that great.

I’m just hoping we get a trailer ASAP so they can set the tone.

The chess games are an iconic part of the series. its that moment where right and wrong are discussed due to the conflicts of ideology for not just themselves but the story in general. infact you know if another writer or director came onboard they would throw a scene like that in also because why wouldn't they?

TBH that could be the only scene they have together for all we know. its clearly meant to be a friendly meet up.

And tony and pepper haven't been arguing since 2000, but then the rate in which marvel have produced movies is different

Sometimes she is full of s**t frankly - she tends to make really quick snapped judgments, and then won't back down from them even when she is wrong. I mean, couple a days ago she was all against the test footage of the new Joker make up and then when she saw it in motion, all of a sudden, she loves it. Give me a break. I mean, you don't do reshoots for a movie you plan to cancel. It's as simple as that. A lot of money went into this production, you can bet they are going for a wide release just to get some of it back to cover the cost, even if they don't make a profit.
