Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

Evan Peters can easily get recast in the MCU too. Different role of course. Quicksilver’s not standing out as much as you’d think, small appearance in dofp and unfulfilled arc in apocalypse, great action scenes, but not memorable. I feel he has potential for more.

Peters has a great range when it comes to acting. I would love to see him get recast in mcu in a different role as well.

X-Men has a bad overseer. Even if x3 was great but if they keep setting things up in the past and just focus on their faves then they aren't living up to the ip's true potential. Still doesn't make why the X-Men are dead in the present yet Colossus was in the Deadpool films and we are supposed to be Xcited about Gambit and Kitty? Like Kinberg's script, the direction of the series is amess. Kinberg even acknowledged Marvel Stud10s' success in the recent Collider video yet he can't do his job properly in this franchise and the continuity is more messed up than ever.

They would have done everyone justice eventually, it was a 100 year plan.

I've noticed that Kinberg always brings up the MCU when talking about his X-franchise, usually when making excuses for it. And let's not kid ourselves...this is his franchise now.

That Collider video is a perfect example. He says "One of the many things that Marvel Studios does so brilliantly is they build into their budgets a reshoot period." Perhaps it's an admission that he's not brilliant...since he didn't build into his budget a reshoot period.

That’s a new shot of the hole with the troops isn’t it?

A new line of dialogue in the trailer for the trailer, but not in the trailer itself? What?

sounds like you just didnt watch Avengers Infinity War.

It can be done, with most characters getting their moment to shine. its not about all of them getting 30 min of screentime.
But of course, if you are just used to Kinberg's scripts, you wont believe it can be done with the X-Men too. I get it.
Infinity War? Really? Avarege movie, with one of the dumbiest involuntary
depictions of superheroes.

Oh well...

Sounds like he really wants to be part of Marvel Studios too.

He's obviously doing this thinking he might keep his 'producer' credits in future X-Men and Fantastic Four films. Disney better not keep this guy for those mcu films.

Yeah X2 built up X3 to really deliver and the forums were really exciting back then. Even though we've had some great films since, X3 did damage to the underlying structure of the X-universe which meant the overall benefit from then on was more film to film or between a small number of films, rather than cumulative of the whole body of work and continuously gaining momentum.
Oh yes, I think about those times in this forum a lot. It was SO fun back then. I feel like that was the best time here on the Hype.
It’s really a shame that Fox just couldn’t wait for Singer to do Superman Returns first and then come back to X3. It would have been really beneficial.
I don’t even think X3 was terrible, but they really dropped the ball. Especially after the first two films.

I also don't think it's a terrible film, just a massive wasted opportunity that set the franchise on the back foot for the long term, destroying many dreams in the process.

Precisely. It was a decent popcorn flick, but lacked the emotional depth of X2.

I agree with all on X3... it delivered the action I had been wanting but fell flat story wise. I always felt Jean should have returned (risen from the lake like in the comic) seemingly ok but unstable in her powers and the ending battle would've been her defeating Mags and showing a glimpse of Dark Phoenix...but anyway.

If you ignore the previous film and the comic history lol, it’s a decent action flick. Connecting the dots with everything else, it’s a brutal let down. Didn’t really watch the films until much later, and weirdly started with X3 and thought it wasn’t too bad, until going back and watching the prior films. It’s more of a let down to me than a bad film.

I havent posted since it was announced the release date got pushed forward to June, was a real kick in the teeth.

Hopefuly something comes out of the latest convention to get any sort of excitement going because right now its very low.

One problem I have with The Last Stand is that everybody is acting like they're in a comic book film, which just flies in the face of what Singer did with the previous 2 films. Just think back to the scene where everyone reacts to Jean's death in X2. All of the actors treat the material seriously and give that scene their all, and Last Stand lacks that 100%. On top of that a lot of the characters don't line up with the other films either specifically Wolverine, Professor X, and Magneto.

Not sure how you come to the conclusion that X3 cast dont take things seriously. Xaviers funeral and aftermath, Rogue contemplating taking the cure, Jeans death scene, Beasts inner conflict of meeting Leach, Storm worried about closing down the school are all dealt with similar heavyness of the Singer films.

I can see where you're coming from. Ian Mckellan in particular feels off to me in that film. Maybe the fault lies more in how the characters were written rather than the actors performances.
