Cant help but wonder who is behind the release of the poster is it Fox or Disney. If I had to guess id say it was made before the merger. But who knows.

For sure It was not made by Disney.

I think it's more a "con exclusive" poster. Like the Brazil comiccon comic one. They tend to be more artsy even with the MCU ones.

But is anyone else seeing the Phoenix Head forming the the black neck/upper chest section of the classic Dark Ph costume? We're the symbol is.

Also she is wearing gloves with the X similar to the Grant Morrison costumes.

I have this theory that the X's around her represent the number of X-Men that die by the Phoenix. There's 3. Im thinking Mystique,Magneto and maybe someone else.

Looks like she was supposed to be in her x-Men uniform, but I definitely wouldn’t read any further into it than that, at all.

In the orginal comic Dark Phoenix costume she has a black segment that forms her collar and upper chest (upside down triangle) where the gold Pheonix symbols is.

In the poster the black Pheonix Head and body is forming that black upside down triangle shape.

Reading it sounds like

It seems with or without Disney I think a hard reboot was probably coming sooner rather than later.

I read it more as him saying it would concluding the story for he "first class era" (obviously the death of you know who), whihc would then have the follow Nightcrawler, Storm etc into a new era of the franchise.

When you look at where the franchise is currently a hard reboot would make sense.

Jackman is done
Singer is done
Most of the OG cast were done after DOFP
They struggled to get the first class cast to even renew for another contract especially Jlaw.
The way kinberg keeps describing Dark Phoenix as a finale/culmination of the XCU.
And the fact we know DP was at one point billed as a 2 parter.

Its fair to say they had many other films planned in the same universe. they were not ending this series anytime soon.

A reboot was/is what I would have wanted regardless of if the deal happened or not. I was hoping wayy back in 2016 that they would reboot after Logan. The movies need fresh blood and the black hole of fresh creative talent is just showing at this point

You're thinking of the Phoenix green costume. The Dark Phoenix red costume, AFAIR, doesn't have the black triangle.

But perhaps that was the intent with it on the collar.
