Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

But why is the raptor relegated to the end only and for one shot/scene for the complete running time of the movie when, as you've mentioned before, she's already shown to have possessed said firebird in a previous movie, one that was so powerful to have defeated a blue god-like ancient mutant. Why should Phoenix be a big deal this time?

Teasing the raptor would be fine if this was X3. But more than ten years later after a botched adaptation, I don't want the raptor teased, I want it literally all over the advertising and film. It should be THE central image.

Instead the central figure of Kinberg's X3 mea culpa is a Jean Grey in her costume from X3, along with other things that remind people of that film

We are then left to question: Kinberg do you actually know what you were apologizing for?

What I mean is... we're teased with this:

And this:

Which is a perfect visual representation of the Phoenix.

But we're then followed up with this:

and this:

Why is it so hard?
I hate to give him too much credit, but isn't it a big coincidence this happens when Singer is replaced.

I'm more than fine with him gone, but it's twice now that he teased it only to leave us hanging.

I think the firebird image we see in the trailer is when Jean absorbs the force.

The concept art of the scene shows a vague "firebird" outline forming around Jean with he debris of the shuttle around her. Very similar to the effects used on the firebird in trailer.

After the force enter Jean there seems to be an explosion in the astronaught shuttle. That what I think we are seeing in this trailer.
The explosion happens and goes onto from the Phoenix shape.
Then it heals Jean; which we see in the trailer

Preach.
Thats what a 60% smart studio and marketing team would do.
But the lack of the firebird everywhere is probably because the mediocre Simon Kinberg didnt even use it that much in the actual movie, so Fox just cant sell what the movie wont really offer.
This is how clueless and out of touch this 'fan' is.

Holding back on the raptor, aliens, Chastains true form, selene/Lotus action, full scale Genosha. The movie must deliver on all this points

Genosha does look like a scrapyard in all of the scenes we've seen it, even Erik- Pre-Dark Phoenix Jean. I wonder what's going on there

So I wonder from everything you guys have discussed what I’m getting is that the “cosmic force” can take any shape by whoever possesses it? So possibly in the finale Jean shapes the force into a Phoenix by her own will? Hence why Chastain isn’t referring to is as “the Phoenix force” which doesn’t make sense because if Simon is going to include aliens from another world then why not have the force be what it actually is?! I would have appreciated if Simon took the Phoenix plot from Ultimate X-Men, and had those aliens create the Phoenix Force, they couldn’t contain it, it destroyed their home world, then fled through space until it came contact with the space shuttle attempting to hide itself inside one of the astronauts but when the X-Men came to rescue them it hid/bonded with Jean instead.

why is Storm behind Peter? is he more important than Storm or what?

its like if Kinberg wanted the actual important x-men as far away as possible

Does anybody actually prefer the First Class design of Beast? I personally don't.

I'll tell you something I don't like, that actually matters, is the fact Beast takes a serum to appear human. It mitigates what he has to deal with as a mutant and sends the message that you should be ashamed of who and what you are.

I agree. I think it would’ve been alright for DoFP, but his arc (if he were to actually have one) should’ve concluded with him giving up the serum along with Charles. I guess they thought Hoult was going to be a big enough star that seeing his actual face would generate interest. But, no.

Yeah it undermines what was set up in First Class even though I hate the whole Mutant and Proud line it shows what the X-Men are about being proud and accepting who they are. I feel like if JLaw and Hoult didn’t want to fully embody these characters then why audition in the first place? I’m surprised they didn’t make Storm wear a hat or head wrap because she’s ashamed of her white hair!!! So Beast is a 40+ year old man who wants to keep his boy ish looks? Like it’s lazy storytelling and it’s stupid AF and disrespectful to what Kelsey G. gave us in X3 who’s a much bigger star than Hoult who could’ve demanded one scene with no make up. I personally think Hoult is trying to throw is supposed star power around like JLaw because why is Kodi blue? If that’s the case then he should be wearing his image inducer as well but oh wait in XEVO he only wore it to school so he could fit in and mutants weren’t public knowledge!!! I can see if Raven/Hank disguised themselves in public because the X-Men are national heroes and they want to keep a low profile that makes sense but to do so in a place you should feel comfortable is just dumb.

Yep, it irritates me that, of all places, they decide to be in their “human forms” when they’re within the mansion. The students know who they are whether they’re blue or not, so what’s the point? It’s a small (albeit frustrating) detail that doesn’t really detract from the story of this film at all, though.

I just hope when they debut in the MCU if they decide to use Beast or not, have him be a mo-cap character, so we don’t have to deal with actors demands. Far as Mystique is concerned have her in one film and one film only that is central to the overall plot! Lol.

Beast's physique is so dissappointing. Just looks like a slim guy with a mask.

Mystique actually looks good there, maybe its the lighting...

I will say that shot looks like the "X-Men" even if the seating arrangement is wrong, it does make sense that the "older" characters are in the front. That said, shots like this make me go, "Man it only took 20 years." But I got a bad feeling this will be a great opening... and the best scene in the movie.

Well, I did it. I'm very pleased now.

I modified my timelines and inserted "LOGAN" in the Original Timeline a.k.a. Timeline Prime Alpha.

So, "Logan" is a follow-up of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", "X-Men", "X2" and "X-Men: The Last Stand". It works nicely this way.

Decades after the events of "Logan" (2029), Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon) traveled back in 1912 and started altering the timeline, thus creating the "First Class Franchise" we all know and love.
