If this was Disney then kudos to them for actually getting an illustrated poster. The majority of the Marvel films don't get posters like that.

If this was Disney then kudos to them for actually getting an illustrated poster. The majority of the Marvel films don't get posters like that.

if you analyze some disney works in stars wars, avengers, alladin and others, you will notice many similarities with this new #DarkPhoenix poster.
many people on social networks have also noticed this, in fact Disney always suffers some criticism for its posters being one equal to the other.
but as I said the result was good, if it was really done by disney as I am thinking was one of the best work they have done, and if it was done by fox they are also to be congratulated for it.

The theatrical poster was already released. We then got the character posters with the "Every Hero Has a Dark Side" tagline.

Then just days ago the released this:

Which looks identical to what FOX typically puts out during the final stretch of marketing. They even changed all their social handles to reflect this new key art.

Now it's all gone. We have a brand new theatrical poster (that looks VERY Disney) a new tagline, and the official Walt Disney twitter tweeted it out. It's pretty curious.

Well... in this franchise he can change his appearance but also during this scene he obviously is wearing a mutant collar, thus suppressing his x gene, thus calling for a hulk-like transformation back into his natural form when he breaks free from the collar .. ..

I’m sure it was Disney and I’m glad the marketing took a turn for the better. Of course a lot of the material is going to be illustrated because it’s not as if they were able to produce photo shoots for a lot, but I miss the days of posters comprised of actual live photography.

But...

- Storm is very small and in the background

- Cyclops' has a very long neck

- JLaw is in blonde JLaw form rather than blue Mystique

And, in general. Jean just looks like Wanda. Could have been some better wardrobe choices that were more Phoenixy.... Are they hoping MCU casual fans will think this is Wanda?

The only point I disagree with is Storm. Yes she’s smaller than the others but she’s a full figure and grabs your attention based on her lightning around her being a pop of color that draws your eye in, unlike the others.

Everything else is on point, though I think the long neck issue is because they drew his shoulders slouched which is throwing it off. I do wish they got the texturing and movement of Jeans jacket correct since leather literally can’t billow in the wind like that so that would change its look entirely, included her effect though I get that it may be harder to illustrate. A giant closeup of Jeans face similar to the screenshot below with the force on the right side, characters laid over it would have been my editorial choice. But still better than what we’ve gotten.

Basically every poster for every other film except this one. this has used about 3 characters from actual promo photo shoots and everything else has been artist illustration for the other characters. Even most other artist illustrations are stylized from actual photo shoots, so there’s no weirdness happening when it comes to the actors. This one has repeatedly just had to illustrate them because part of me thinks they were originally going to go the route akin to the image of the “first look”. Since the movie is taking a slightly different turn, the images they shot would be a misrepresentation of the finished product. That was a photo shoot for example. The below are photo shoots or mixed media (predominantly photo shoots.


No weirdness going on with awkward drawings (though the latest is still my favorite) or worse, photoshopped heads on bodies in another pose. See that awkward Fox banner and look at Raven and Charles for example

Tbh today seems like the day the Disney marketing took over. The old twitter banner that was released last week was typical Fox uglyness. This new one is stunning and VERY Disney.

Because it HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED that Hank already can, so anythingthat suppresses his x gene will take away his physical appearance no matter what, not to nightcrawler, it was established that whenhes inhibited in his powers, he can’t teleport, he can’t change his apperance,... Remember in XM:A in the helicopter going to Strykers?? He was already born that way anyway, not Hank... even in the comics he starts out as human... then he turned blue and it just enhanced his x gene, meaning taking away the x gene will now take away his entire mutation which means being blue, because it is enhanced. Now it still sucks in these movies that he can willfully take it away... but it’s whatever and it’s been established .. and he looks damn good as beast in this

My only explanation would be that it’s not his physical mutation as Nightcrawler’s is, with them being born like that. Hank’s blue appearance is rather a sideaffect of his serum he developed with the intent of fixing his physical mutation, his feet. The serum he then created in DoFP then allowed him control that secondary man made mutation with his temper, hence his transformations.

The collar prevents use of their mutations but doesn’t take it away, so Nightcrawler can’t Bamf and Beast can’t morph from one form to another. I wish this was explained, but it’s the best explanation I can find.

I wonder if I’m the comics, should Scott have an inhibitor collar on, would he still have his blasts, would storm still have cat eyes, and would someone like Anole still maintain their appearance.

They want to show Nicholas Hoult's face make up like as if he's a big draw. It probably saved them some time and money with Nicholas not having the prosthetic on. Like I said Beast isn't the Hulk. Beast can't turn off his blue fur / beastly physical features. His physical mutation is permanent. He's not like Iceman who can turn into ice instantly and revert to human form.

Obviously FoX knows better, like how Cyclops' blast is plasma in Apocalypse, that it burns things it hit.

That middle X-Men: Days of Future Past poster is awesome.

Looks very illusory of sorts. Think the faded sky colour scheme and Wolverines pose really makes it stand out

If you look at the bottom of the poster Nightcrawler's and Quicksilver's actors names are missing. But it has Kinberg's name THREE TIMES!

Lol I see it twice or am I missing one. But I agree that it’s stupid Kodi and Evan aren’t credited.

I know some people have been thinking about Disneys involvement in this. It’s quite clear with the trailer in front of imax and the new promotional material that Disney have taken over. And whether they produced this movie or not they own it now and expect a profit so it makes sense that their marketing team are stepping in to take over for it. I’m glad tbh. End of the day they aren’t thinking about locking it away so that eventually down the line people will forget about it so they can reboot it. That’s not gonna happen. People will always remember it the good and the bad (like Spider Man). But marvel will be able to reboot it and start something new and people will flock. The way I see it they promote this. Make some money, ramp up the nostalgia and end it on a high note and reboot it in a few years.
