Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

What a randomly ominous photo.

Origins is factually nothing. One's opinion on a film is their opinion, it's all subjective. Personally I'd watch Origins again long before Apocalypse or Last Stand. At least it makes me laugh.

The last stand has Kelsey Grammer as Beast, which is one of the best casting choices in cbm history. I would watch it ten times over Apocalypse for that alone.

Frankly it's embarrassing how the special effects from 2006 look much better than the ones in Apocalypse ten years later.

The worst movies are those that inspire nothing. It is better to be trashy fun then to be a drab and boring. A movie that I can't get through is much worse then a movie I can watch.

There is no "objective" facts about art. It's all opinion. You might think something is better directed or written, but that is your opinion. Considering the consensus so far on Dark Phoenix, others would disagree.
...So if I said to you unironically that Tommy Wiseau's the Room is better directed than Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather would you still be saying that?

Art at its core is subjective but in certain cases there can be some objective aspects about it.

I wrote on Rate thread.

I like it, i found it better than X1, X3, Apocalypse- and First Class level. (and better than the other superhero movie i saw this year, Endgame)

Great first 2/3. Then a low end act, even if action paked.

I have to said the level of writing in the first 2/3 is very good, very distant from superhero genre and with a sort of flavour you can see in more authorial movie (that was the reason critics hate it. we know they hate the mix and they tend to ghetto the genre).

What is missing is a true courage to follow the way set in the first half, while to end in the same final battle that miss all the crucial point Kinberg set earlier.

About 24 hours to go here for me. Yay. I'm looking forward to...getting the free keychain?

I'd disagree. But it would still be your opinion. I don't have to agree with your opinion. I can think your opinion is crazy. But it is still your opinion and you are entitled to it.

Wait, what?

Ugh. I really don't care about her views on movies, primarily because she doesn't know what she's talking about and is a half-assed critic.

There are just some things that can't be changed Xpecially something as iconic as the name of the X-Men. Like what are they gonna do, change it to X-People?

I wasn't happy when they changed the iconic codename/ alias of Carol Danvers to Capt. Marvel especially they just gave the Ms. Marvel to another character. So hopefully they won't mess with the name of the X-Men.

They've already lost Cottilard. It'll be funny if Chastain quits her (!) movie too. The most likely scenario is that Kinberg comes out with a statement saying he can't resume duties as director because living away the duration of filming will take a toll on his family.

I was talking about an italian professional critic about that. In the last 5-7 years the critics in usa strive for please the bigger fanbase for gain follower/views and at the same time doesn't wanna harm their critics 'integrity' position. So they accept the most liked and inoffensive style and create a sort of ghetto where they can give the same score at Endgame they would give to Kubrick' 2001.
They know there are 2 different league (so their integrity is safe), but at the same time the bluckbuster movie get the highest score (so followers are glad).
When a blockbuster movie try to exit from the safe ghetto zone there are the problems.

Looks like stunt casting to me, than actually trying to make a film with a good story. Also, this has nothing to do with Dark PhoeniX nor the X-Men.

Ok, now I get what you're saying. Using the word "ghetto" threw me off.
