Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

Hopefully there will be a new animated show soon.

Let's pray.

With the X-men back at Marvel I think a revival would be more likely than before. Not to mention more games and other animated appearances.

I wouldn't count on much given the quality of recent Marvel cartoons.

I'm quite sure Disney will heavily promote the X-Men before their introduction in the MCU, that will include animated shows.

Now, if they're going to be good or not, I don't know.

I talked to ViewerAnon about the test screening he saw and he didn’t see the version you watched. The one released in theaters is more or less the same.

Seems that they never publicly test screened the 2+ hour version.

Yeah ViewerAnon went to a public test screening several months after I did. I talked with them about it the day of their screening.

I have a question regarding the initial 2 film idea:
Do we think the main reason for making it 1 film is because of Fox?
I of course don’t know the behind the scenes, but I feel like even with the Acquisition, Marvel would have allowed them to complete the series with 2 films, if they asked them to. Marvel would be making money off of a product they didn’t put much work into and it would also have allowed for a better ending to a 19 year franchise. It’s not like they’re rebooting ASAP.

It was because of Fox, through and through, for better or worse. Disney and Marvel has nothing directly to do with that. The order for film condensation happened in April 2017 and filming was already geared to start first week of June!

Yes, the order was because of the plan to sell but that was privileged knowledge that not a single person on the film knew about.

The bid by Comcast that kicked this whole thing off was announced in June 2018.

Over a year later.

Add in Jean Grey and Rogue. Be a fun show.

And by the way, was Rob Liefeld who designed those characters? :p

Oh, I'm sure they will do one. It will just probably suck unless there are major changes made to their animation showrunners.

Can I ask you what do you think Disney should do with New Mutants? Should it go to streaming or do you think Disney should release it in theaters like they did with Dark Phoenix and risk losing more money? Do you think Disney will even spend money on reshoots now that the franchise is now essentially on life support now?

Ah, you were the one he was talking about.

Yup that’s me. Public test screenings are arranged by other companies and in addition to my screening, there was one the week prior and another the week after. All of them private and personal invites. Test screenings you can’t even get your cell phone on the lot.

Can't see why Disney would release it to theatres. They shouldn't have done that with Dark Phoenix. It's not like Fox have recovered their costs yet.

Kinberg’s explanation for the Mutants lack of aging:
Well, Jennifer [Lawrence] is the easiest one to rationalize because she can make herself look however she wants to make herself look," explains Kinberg. "The aging on her is Mystique should actually always be the same age when she's blue. And when she's white, she is just pretending to look young, the same way she was pretending to look like Richard Nixon."

"But for all the other characters, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, going back to First Class, they certainly have not aged 30 years since we started making those movies 10 years ago," he acknowledges. "And the way that we sort of rationalized it, and it is a rationalization for sure, was that they aged a little differently because they're mutants, and we hoped that the audience would go with that. And so far that's not been a problem for the audience."

I've said this before when Disney announced a new 2020 date, that it was just a red herring. I think they didn't want the announcement of New Mutants getting cancelled/sent to streaming to further sully Dark Phoenix. So they were going to wait til Dark Phoenix has had its run at the box office (which will be quite shorter a wait now based on the the film's reception). Why move it and not just keep the August date? Who knows, maybe the August date was cutting it close and theaters need a long enough heads up that a studio can't commit to a given date.

I personally think they have little to gain doing reshoots to a production that's troubled enough as it is.
"And so far that's not been a problem for the audience."
Famous last words. What a dolt.

It seems like Marvel Television is making interesting choices with the adult oriented Hulu shows. Hopefully Modok and the gang will be an improvement over the sub par offerings in Disney XD.

Kinberg has crafted something superior; his singular vision is one of supreme clarity and people have been against....

J/K I’m so glad the ******* known as Kinberg is finally going to be completely booted and gone from X-men. He has totally ruined an epic amazing classic X-men saga twice. Seriously this guy is a royal *****e. Why was he even given a second chance to screw up a story even worse than he tried adapting last time?

I am so thrilled to finally be rid of half this cast, Kinberg and Fox from this comic franchise. Fox has produced some amazing Foxverse films but the last few X-men films and even the good x-men films have done such injustice to so many major characters.

Dark Phoenix was a choppy, shoddily directed, half assed piss poor effort from a moron who should have never been with 5000 miles of the X-men.

This was like the longest charade ever. Wow hats off to you. It was too annoying to actually have been real for all this time.

I applaud your long term commitment to that trolling.
