Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix Skepticism Thread

With Mystique, that's 2 sisters that's been retconned into Xavier's life now. lol

I'd rather have Cyclops, Storm and Jean-centric storylines for the next trilogy. Though I will always love McAvoy's Xavier.

Good point though Im still very doubtful of how they utilize Storm, DP will be telling as to how they handle the character. I do want them to focus more on those 3 you mentioned as well as give them villains or arcs that directly have to do with them. Still feel the Phoenix Saga will be our trilogy of films.

Fun fact: Storm doesn't say a single thing to Jean at any point in the film. They have been friends for about 20 years and yet don't communicate once. Storm barely mentions her to anyone else either, unless she's convincing to Logan to "let her go" and "do what he needs to" when the time comes.

Storm doesn't talk to Scott once either, another friend of 20+ years.

Brilliant writing.

One of the many reasons I hate X3

Thank god we're out of the era where every character can only interact with Wolverine at everyone's expense.

I mean we got Simon Kinberg,The mastermind behind masterpieces like The Last Stand, FANT4STIC and Apocalypse, as writer/director. What's to be worried about? :o

Storm didn't say a word to Jean or Scott in Apocalypse too.

Oh, yeah, she barely said a word.

Preach it, brother.

That Scott/Storm hassle was dumb precisely because there is zero investment in it, basically it comes down to the cool visual of their powers bouncing off each other. Its like Scott against a mindless sentinel except its Storm. That whole third act was a crushing dissappointment.

That battle between them didn't even make sense. Storm could've easily had the lighting come from any angle lol

Something that really upset me, Im hoping they do more with this coming film but I think its more likely not to happen.

I kind of get why she didn't interact with Scott or Jean (she didn't even know them and was part of the opposing team), but I don't like how she barely said anything at all.

yea thats the part im talking about not her not interacting with Jean and Scott but in general.

I don't like how she barely said a word. How she didn't interect with others. How she had basically zero motivation to join Apocalypse in his massive genocide. And how she had zero development or motivation to turn against him. And how she barely had personality.

And how we've seen almost nothing from her origin, but we've seen Logan's and Eric's being brought up for the millionth time!

And how she worshipped the god damn Jlawstique! And how they justified her god damn natural white hair!

Ahhhhhh... I'll never get tired of expressing how much I want a completely different creative team for the X-Men. Completely.

I feel your pain trust me, thats why im not enthusiastic about the upcoming movie. I would have much preferred Apocalypse stumbling upon Storm as she was being worshiped as a goddess as she was in Giant Sized Xmen, seeing her sheer power is what drew him to her. Lets hope this next film we get some proper focus and development on the big 3 and not Raven and Mags.

I'd love to see them focusing on Jean, Scott and Ororo. And give the other characters the justice they deserve. It's really ridiculous that Fox can't really see alll the potential they have with Jean, Scott, Ororo, Kurt, Psylocke, Beast, Rogue, Kitty, Bobby, etc...

But unfortunately I don't have that hope. Not for this movie. And certainly not with the other "big three" in the mix.

Fox is clueless on what to do with these characters. Sometimes they get it.... Though most of the Time they just don't!

Imo, they should just start from scratch. Planet of the Apes reboot series is good, they just need to get a new creative team that gets the source material. It ain't Kinberg and Singer.

Claremont for their Kevin Feige! not as a writer, but someone to oversee the whole universe, and who doesnt get too busy in one particular proyect (like Kinberg, being a writer too)

The X-Men films do not have a kevin feige and maybe thats how they are trying to be different to marvel.

People who work with marvel play by marvels rules, while someone like Mangold can come onboard and say hey can i kill off the X-Men? and FOX will be like yeah sure.

Just hand out the X-Men to Fiege and still keep them separated from the MCU.

Kinberg is closest thing they have to overseer.

mcu is like a tv show with directors like directors of tv episodes with feige as showrunner.with x-men related films directors have more control.

with Donner focusing on the tv shows now kinberg is closest thing to producer of all the films.

Thats only because kinberg has been the most vocal about the project but hutch parker is also a producer.

parker is the new ralph winter and is only involved with main x-men films now that wolverine solo films are done.if they do x-23 then maybe he could be involved in that but for now he is only producing main x-men films while kinberg is also producer on new mutants, deadpool films, and the others ind evolpment like gambit and x-force.

then we would get real respect to the actual X-Men and they'd be put front and center, no doubt about it. Sadly not gonna happen, Fox is happy with their team.

Feige won't even touch Fox's projects as he only focuses on the films of MCU. Just look how messy their Tv shows are without His guidance.

I do think Fox needs someone that gets the team. I don't really care much about Deadpool, X-Force and New Mutants... Great if they are good, move on if they suck. Those are just extra branches of the X-Men world for me. But the X-Men team the real X-Men is what I love the most and what made invested to cb films and just in comic books in general. So it's very important that they get it right. Dark Phoenix will be another misinterpretation of the X-Men again. They could have already hired someone new, or just from start from scratch, save us from that "continuity" that makes half sense. But no singer verse must continue with Kinberg as the driving force. Magneto and Raven are back just cause. They are wasting time and effort for potentially a bad film.
