Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix Skepticism Thread

Genosha is now confirmed too. And " a confused Jean" will be looking for him. Sounds familiar?

Goddamn. I was really hoping Magneto and Mystique would play the back in this movie/ Storm, Nightcrawler, Scott, Quicksilver. Professor X. They should be the ones that have to figure this out. I thought that when they introduced these characters, they would become the meat of the story. Magneto and Mystique should really be an after thought for this film.

I've mentioned this a long time ago, they are NEVER gonna give magneto a supporting role not especially under Kinberg who is a biased Magneto fan. With so many X-Men characters, they've still found a way to squeeze Magneto in every X-Men team film and give him a non supporting role. This is a lost cause now.

Magneto is one if not the best X-Men characters in comics.

So it's perferct to me he has more space than others.

Magneto defines X-Men in a most important way than secondary characters like Psylocke or Jubilee

^it's sad what the Singerverse did to people.

I love Magneto... but they need to make space for more villains and for more development for the actual X-Men.

Magneto is good in the movies, though I much prefer him in the comics and in the animated series.

Magneto just overstayed at this point. It was fine that he was the main antagonist in the ot and we got a prequel film detailing his origin story. While Dofp should have been his swan song especially with his scene with Xavier in the future portion. He didn't need to comeback for Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix. What they should have done was to make Apocalypse the next big bad for like a trilogy but no, and they've also rehashed Phoenix/Dark Phoenix again. An actual Age of Apocalypse film for a second/third film would have been more exciting. While Apocalypse the movie should have been an introduction film similar to Thanos in A3.

I love Magneto. And I also love Mystique and Charles and Logan. But also love Scott, Rogue, Kitty, Kurt, Storm, Beast, Alex, Sean, Warren, Betsy, Jubilee, Gambit, Dazzler, Colossus, Bobby, Bishop, Jean, Emma... you know, the X-Men.

Like to me I always view Magneto and Mystique as a villain first and foremost and in these movies, the actual X-Men like Gambit, Rogue, Psylocke, Dazzler, Colossus, Bishop, Emma are more fitting to be in the team.

And even in the comics right now, there's still disdain to Magneto and Mystique from the actual X-Men even if they returned to the X-Men more than twice.

You wanna talk about comics:

Magneto did not play a big role in the Dark Phoenix Saga at all.

Neither did Mystique.

But they exist in that world. So they can have a big role.

Stryker exists in that world too doesn't mean he should play a big role.

They only play a big role if you want to CHANGE the Dark Phoenix Saga.

Just bumping this up so we can start utilizing the right threads. :)

Every X-Men movie needs magneto and Mystique!

yes, and it doesnt matter if actual X-Men get poor roles or dont even appear. fanboys just wanna fanboy

Whocares about the comics when you can have Quicksilver as an X-Man. Jubilee, Psylocke, Havok, Dazzler, Angel who?

I agree Magneto needs to take a backseat for a film or two. We get this his battle for mutant supremacy is his cause but their are other villains he can either team up with for that or tell a new original story that involves his character down the road.
It’s like the Joker popping up in every Batman movie after awhile it gets pointless and tiresome. I get that he’s their main arch nemesis but he doesn’t have to be in every film maybe a mention or build up to his epic return

Nolan's Batman trilogy didnt use the same villain in each movie, and its one of the best cbm trilogies ever, if not the best.

But Fox didnt get the lesson, it seems. "We gotta use Magneto in all the movies because if not, a sequel without him would fail"

What gets me about Phoenix in this movie is that it's a retread of X-men Last Stand in that they are going with Jean being schizophrenic again. Kinberg says he wants to get it right this time round but he's just amplifying the same problem as last time from what I've read. Not only that but they have alien villains this time round which makes it seem even more redundant.
