Dark Phoenix X-Men Dark Phoenix SPOILER Discussion

@icekid when Storm says her line in the trailer about people being who they are is she talking to Scott or Jean? I noticed in the final trailer Jean in her red outfit comes back to the mansion or is that scene misleading.

The trailer splices two scenes together. Jean never returns to the mansion wearing that outfit. I believe that’s a shot of her entering the alien’s base in New York. Storm’s line is to Scott about Jean.

They’re not the focus of the movie so they’re not named, their origin not discussed as that would make the movie about them, this movie is about Jean. That much is abundantly clear and that’s exactly how the movie will play
Geez thats the explanation for that? I guess the Skrulls and the Chitauris should have been nameless since they weren't the focus in the Marvel movie they have appeared in.

Look at the Chitauri in the first Avengers movie, was there anything about them?

We knew there were theChitauris. Jessica isn't playing a minor role to left out the identity of the aliens/her specie. So much for introducing aliens for the first time in the series. Sounds like a really bad eXcuse.

To the every day audience, what’s a Chitauri? Why did they all die? A name doesn’t go that far, even I was confused as I dont care about Avengers comics or those of the characters involved with that first movie. I’ve come to love it anyway but it’s a fair comparison.

So like I've said the Chitauris should have been nameless as well as the Skrulls. They weren't the main focus in the movie anyway... Who cares about the identity / name of the alien species in Marvel movies anyway.

So if my relatives asked me, who are the aliens in Dark PhoeniX, I should just say, nameless because they aren't the focus of the film. Great.

You’re not to*going to like the answer. It’s one of the things I can say I hated about this movie.

What happen between the part when Jean sends Magneto away through the window and the part when she shares the Phoenix Force with Chastain?

I know she sees Xavier and tries to kill him. But in meanwhile, where's Cyclops, Storm, Nightcrawler and Beast?

This moment happens after the fight in the streets, right?
Another thing. I just don't get it how the mutants let themselves be carried by MCU soldiers with no resistance.

I have a very oddly specific question.

In Apocalypse when he is chocking Mystique, her scales start to flutter in a sign that she is distressed/panicking.

Does this happen when she is impaled and dying?

I felt it was great visual, especially in relation to her powers.

The Chitauri are the weapon bestowed on Loki to capture the tesseract. They are a faceless army, but who they are and why they are there is very important. Especially once you see Thanos.

Well I of course know all about them now but looking at the movie, within only the confines of the movie, they are aliens that came from floating space rocks in a portal to fight. That’s it. Outriders are things with 4 arms that ran out of spikes. That’s it. So if the GA did not care one single bit about the intricate details of their backstory, they won’t care about this. We know Chastain’s drive, motivation and purpose, we know Loki’s, so why would anyone treat anything any different than we do that situation within the confines of those individual movies.

its okay I can handle it. LOL.or just DM me
They don’t.

Yes, they do. Because they know I follow these movies.
My relatives know I'm into everything superhero and superhero movies.....they have never asked me "Who are the aliens in ______ movie?" They want to know if the effects are good, if there is cool action, anything the kids can't see....but when Avengers was out, not a one asked who the aliens were and where they were from. They accepted they were the bad guys and that was that.

The writing was on the wall. Storm's sisterly role with Jean was usurped by Mystique. Funnily enough it also seems like Storm's role as a younger mutant idolizing Mystique, calling her "my hero" has also been given to Jean. Seems like Jean will be Mystique's protege in this, and not Ororo. Neither

So it looks like Storm won't be talking to any other females? So much for the Bechdel test.

A connection between Raven and Jean was actually established in Apocalypse when Jean fearfully asks about Raven’s experience with the X-Men on their way to Cairo. That’s more than can be said of Raven and Storm’s interactions shown thus far.

The Bechdel test doesn’t require every single female in a film to interact with one another. Keep trying, though.

Yea the same scene where Mystique tells the kids they came up with the name X-men. We all remember it. Does Simon?

You sure got me! Yea it's just a shame that Ororo doesn't, but I guess that's A-OK with you

Next you're going to defend that Nightcrawler (your avatar and namesake!) barely has any lines LOL

Stop trolling, it's unnecessary.

By the way, the guys came up with the name (as revealed by Raven), later Moira proposed it to Xavier. It's a proper retcon, not even contradicted.

"Proper retcon" is an oxymoron.

Why would Moira propose it to Xavier if "the guys came up with the name?" Isn't Xavier part of "the guys?"

So in that case the Chitauris, the Skrulls, the Sovereign, the Kree shouldn't have been identitified. Just unidentified nameless aliens, because that is exactly what this movie is doing.

No....that is not what I said....you are just being obstinate for obstinate's sake. Just because one group of aliens are not having their name and entire previous history in the universe shouted from the rooftops it doesn't mean that every alien race should not be named.
