Days of Future Past X-Men: First Class filming thread: News, reports, images etc.

X2 was great but unlike some sequels to big movies Bryan Singer was still restricted when It came to budget.Which cause limitions on how many characters could be used. And what set Pieces could be used. The fact X2 came out so well Is a testerment to
Singer and his team despite Fox and It's cheap ways.
Seriously, how many movies are NOT restricted in some way due to their budget? I just think X2, like you may be inferring, is actually one of those exceptions where the movie didn't have quite so many restrictions as I recall, especially in relation to X1.

This misconception about a cheap movie or studio isn't necessary a bad thing. We've seen many movies with huge budgets fail miserably. Also, the restriction angle can also be a positive. Sometimes less is more (i.e., Transformers 2, X3).

I donno, the X2 script before the budget cuts had so much awesome in it. .

I don't disagree, but I'm perfectly fine with most of what we got. :p

Those sorts of things I would imagine are common across the board and not much can be done about that, so, I don't see it as a big deal.

All of the X-Men scripts either leaked, or reviews of the scripts were posted. So, we could hear something in the not to distant future.
I friggin hope not.. :(

Oh, no I completely agree. I'm very satisfied with X2. I just can't help but think of all the cool things we could have gotten had the budget been a bit more reasonable. Angel, Sentinals, Nightcrawler vs. Toad.

I've never been a big fan of the Sentinels and Angel...the Toad thing, definitely could've been interesting.. :D

and their was supposed to be a scene where Jean goes all "phoenixy" and destroy the sentinels

I know that was in the past, but after X3, I'm all "Phoenixy" out.. :p

I could never be Phoenixy out!

This may be off topic to this board, but could you tell me what happened in the script that did not realize on screen ?

X2 Is my favorate Marvel film and In my oporion one of the 4 greatest
Comic book films ever(along with Richard Donner's Superman and both
Christopher Nolan batman films) but point I was trying to make compared
to other big sequels fox was revelary cheap.Fox gave more money to fantastic four than It gave to X-Men(the first X-Men had 75 Million budget
compared to first fantastic four's 95 Million budget) X2 had a 110 Million
budget when sequel to film that grossed 300 Million worldwide usually would
get close to 150 Million.

As for what was lost here Is list

Wolverine training In Danger Room after nightmare(the kitchen stuff with
Iceman and going besterker on SOlider replaced It.Wolverine would have
left the danger room In time to save Rogue,Iceman, and Pyro.)

Sentinle breaking Into Cerebro

The Angel as prisoner of Stryker. He and Cyclops would have shared cell

Stryker exprements on Angel creating Archangel

a battle between Nightcrawler and brainwashed Toad

Battle between the X-men and sentinles.Jean's enhancing powers destroy
them

During dark Cerebro's attack on mutants several are seen Including Beast
In labortary mutating Into blue and furry version of beast

During the escape archangel flies some children out

First Class to shoot in Michigan?

It looks like some of the next X-Men movie, titled "X-Men: First Class," may be shot in Michigan.
I just received this bulletin from the West Michigan Film Office:
"A location scout is seeking out areas with a 1960's, South-American or Central American island feel for the next X-Men movie, 'X-Men: First Class.' In particular, he needs to find café and bar locations, evoking the Argentinian feel of Bariloche, and an Art Deco Cafe or restaurant overlooking a body of water. Additionally, the movie calls for a Miami styled harbor for yachts. If you know of any locations that seem to match a description, please contact our office."

Well It looks like they will go to Michigan Instead of Germany.I have no Idea what the Miami style ahrbors are for but the south-American style locations are almost certainly for when Xavier and Magneto meet.

Awesome! I never thought living in Michigan would pay off!

j/k :p

With Michigan's great incentives to movie studios, almost every other movie has been doing some kind of filming up here...

instead we got cool conversation between logan and bobby. It was an intimate scene too !

sentinle breaking into cerebro

the angel as prisoner of stryker.he and cyclops would have shared cell

this would be cool, as more cyclop screen time.

stryker exprements on angel creating archangel

a battle between nightcrawler and brainwashed toad

we would have to know how he survived x1 and where would they fight ? At stryker's base ?

battle between the x-men and sentinles.jean's enhancing powers destroy
them

so it seems instead of sentinels, we get deathstrike instead. She is cool !

during dark cerebro's attack on mutants several are seen including beast
in labortary mutating into blue and furry version of beast

during the escape archangel flies some children out

In hindsight, a few of those things are a little weird/bizarre (i.e., Beast turning blue), but I do remember the infamous deleted/shot/never shot? Gambit scene discussion for X2.

I think I still have the novelization where some of the last cuts to go are still inside...

Does anyone have any advice if I wanted to find out if they will need any runners on the London sets?

You'll have to contact Fox. Pinewood Studios are just where studios shoot, they don't hire any crew.

Well if you see anything going on there you're officially on assignment to report it back to us. :oldrazz:

Yeah, Hugh Jackman is going to filming a movie there starting next week, I think -although I'm hoping they don't take advantage of that to sneak in a Wolverine cameo they don't need.

A bar location? I could picture them trying to include a Wolverine cameo in that setting.

Yeah, I think most of the movie sets in the state are a few hundreds miles from me unfortunately.. :p

Everything sounds so good...but the release date
They could hire a good director but film directors are not miracle workers. I don't see how they're going to get this out for 2011 and have it still be good and not look rushed.

To quote Matthew Vaughn's IMDB personal quotes page:

"Prep properly and you make a great movie."
They've been prepping since he signed on at the beginning of May, possibly even before, and they will continue to until they film in August/September.

First Class basically has the same production schedule as X3, and while that's not the most encouraging fact, First Class is a smaller film. Vaughn also uses CGI/effects lightly, which will reduce time needed in post.

They just need to have a tight schedule with no fat. If Vaughn didn't think he could do it he wouldn't have signed on.

Ugh...one of my biggest pet peeves is how people can tell whether or not a movie is rushed or not. There are so many other factors other than a movie's production time that can go into the final product to the point where this "rush factor" is extremely difficult to capture and quantify as a root cause of anything detrimental or advantageous even.
