Days of Future Past X-Men: First Class filming thread: News, reports, images etc.

As long as Penn and Kinberg aren't talking I am happy.

Millar also recently said that he got a hold of the Wolverine 2 script and that it is one of the best scripts he has ever read. I don't really trust his comments.

Mostly because I know he hasn't come within 30 miles of the Wolverine script.

He also said he knows which villain(s) will be in Batman 3 and how awesome a big scene of the movie will be :whatever:

Millar reminds me of Fitz from The Departed.

"Mum... I'm not gonna maike et home fo suppa."

he also said he was gonna direct superman

No, he said he wanted to write it and had an 8 hour long trilogy planned. At the time he said he had a 'top Hollywood director' interested, which turned out to be Matthew Vaughn. I don't think Vaughn would fall under that category. Not yet, anyway.

andyffgibbons Andy Gibbons
Just saw James McAvoy and Nicholas Hoult filming a scene for X-Men: First Class. All green screen so nothing much to report.
Yesterday.

Yesterday.

@andyffgibbons was Nicholas Hoult in costume (blue, furry) or as-is? Appreciate any info!

@xmenfilmsdotnet He was in costume but very 60's geek chic. Trousers, shirt, blazer and horn rimmed glasses.

'Not sure they're clear that "costume" also means blue and furry, though... if they were, they probably would have said something about it.

Savannah, Georgia newspaper Savannah Morning News reports that X-Men: First Class will film on Jekyll Island. Here are several clips from the article:

The Jekyll Island Authority this week approved an agreement with Twentieth Century Fox for filming of "X-Men: First Class."

Filming is expected to begin on Jekyll later this month and is scheduled to run to the end of the year. Producers will pay the authority $16,000 for use of a 4.5-acre beach area east of Beachview Drive and the fishing pier at Clam Creek. That fee is established as long as producers at the end of filming agree to provide 375 cubic yards of beach-quality sand at the beach location, according to the signed agreement. The sand is worth a film credit of up to $15,000, the agreement states.

Toward the end of the scouting, however, a producer reviewing the locations on Google Earth thought the water near Jekyll looked bluer.

Chris Petrikin, of Fox corporate communications, said Jekyll ultimately was chosen for of its "visual aesthetic," abundance of crew and equipment resources, travel access and housing availability.

Maybe they will shoot a romantic plot there.

Id like to see Muir Island, but maybe Moira is too young for that... dont know

I assumed it would be a scene with Xavier in his own head or him in someone else's head. The place is kind of surreal looking.

Everone really still trust what Mark Millar says? And with in Darren direction maybe the new Wolverine movie do something well.

I hope Wolverine 2 wont have a bigger boxoffice than First Class.

Two Wolverine movies are enought, its time to continue the saga with the whole team.

Who gives a damn which makes more? I just want two great films and if they're great, both deserve their own successes.

^^ I agree. I don't pit one movie against the other. Maybe it's because I'm a Wolverine fan, too. But it makes no sense for there to be any competition.

I do want First Class to do better then Wolverine so Fox would get the message that X-Men doesn't need Wolverine to be a success. If it does less (especially by a significant margin) than Wolverine then Fox might think "You see? Wolverine is the real money maker. Not these other losers. Now let's get started on X-Men First Class 2: Wolverine Rising."

I would like Wolverine to be a success (provided it's actually a good movie) but I think it's important for the future of the film franchise for First Class to match it very well in the box office. And I would prefer FC to actually surpass it so when Wolverine does show up in the X-Men again maybe he'll play a more balanced role.

Yep, Muir Island is the first thing that comes to mind but if you look at images of Jekyll Island, it looks too 'exotic' for a rugged Scottish island.

Krakoa? Genosha? Something for an astral plane sequence?
