Days of Future Past X-Men: First Class filming thread: News, reports, images etc.

If X4 is made, Scott should be the hero of the thing. If he does come back and he didn't actually die in X3, it would be great to see the film focused on him and saving the team or something. It would definitely make up for how he's been treated in the past decade.

Didn't Marsden say "screw this" on X3 and take the Superman Returns role? Isn't that why they killed him off and cut his part short?

I cant imagine him returning for the next one. I wouldn't if I were him. It wasn't a terrible film on its own, it was just a terrible X-Men film.

I'm surprised no official photos from Fox have come out (i.e. nothing with Fassbender and McAvoy, or even January Jones), let alone when we'll get a teaser trailer.

It's five months, people. We should've gotten a trailer last month, waiting until February to start marketing X-Men: First Class is pushing it.

im a bit surprised too.

But at the end of the day, studios dont need to promote a movie during a whole year. I mean, many viewers dont know a movie is coming until they see the trailer one month before the release date or the tv spots the same month, or some article on a magazine/newspaper the same month too.

So not having a trailer yet isnt as bad as some people think.

we know Fox will be promoting this movie like crazy in the latest months, so we dont need to worry.

On the subject of Cyclops, while his death wasn't "seen", let's be real here, it was established that he was dead. Both Xavier and Jean stated Cyclops was dead. He was killed "off screen" for the suspense of not revealing Jean's potential right away, that's why.

Trying to bring Cyclops back in the future just makes the franchise a convoluted mess.

It's fine. 5 months is plenty of time to promote a movie. The majority of people who see movies don't really know about them until a month or two beforehand anyway.

We will be getting promotional images and the first trailer soon. People just need to be patient. If we got a trailer in December with sub-par visual effects everyone would be complaining.

He was barely in those films so no one is really gonna notice to care anyway. :o

I think he was "killed" off screen so that he could come back in a future film. And explaining why Jean and Xavier believed him to be dead would also be easily accomplished. But I do agree that it would be a mess - but it's already a mess due to X3. This is why I don't think it would be wise to do any more sequels, but very wise to continue with the prequels that ignore the the third X-film and Wolverine film.

There's always that fanboy wish of Mr. Sinister taking his body offscreen for a sequel. :funny:

Something finally is coming!

Supposed Details of the Theatrical trailer:

http://www.dailyblam.com/news/2011/01/08/details-of-the-theatrical-trailer-for-x-men-first-class
- The trailer opens with the 20th Century Fox logo which pans up as the two spotlight beams cross and form a white "X" on the left of the screen. A white circle goes around the "X" forming the X-Men logo, as Magneto's helmet comes up on the right.
- Patrick Stewart and Ian Mckellan voice over the opening lines about destiny and which side will you stand for as scenes of each in their previous X-Men movie roles flash until the entire screen flashes from white to black.
- A very young Xavier and Erik meet for the first time, followed by a different angle of the scene from the opening of X-Men in the concentration camp.
- Camera pans outside of an old castle-style building that greatly resembles the X-mansion. McAvoy and Fassbender are seen walking through the halls. The words "One wanted peace" flash by Xavier.
- Scene transitions to Erik yelling dramatically as metal tables in the room begin to float around him. Xavier and Mags shake hands with a tall man in a lab coat introduced as Dr. McCoy.
- The words "The other was too far gone" flash as a very pissed off Erik storms through a hallway killing guards as he passes them.
- Cut scene to what appears to be a red Nightcrawler with swords taking out a room full of people; the close up reveals Azazel's face.
- The Hellfire Club stand next to Xavier on a bed as Emma goes into diamond form. Olver Platt and Kevin Bacon were next to Emma in black aristocratic clothes, with Emma wearing the exact same outfit from the Wolverine and the X-Men cartoon.
- Mystigue on a bed with her skin turning black; Beast is shown transforming, with his feet growing and toes webbing and fur growing.
- Havok shoot a red beam of energy (looks almost exactly like cyclops's eye beam, but larger) from his chest (SIDE NOTE: Havok's powers in comics have always had a blue energy).
- It then shows Beast all blue and furry (looking almost exactly like Kelsey Grammer in make-up) in the pilot seat of a crashing jet, followed by several rockets flying towards an island.
- Xavier's face goes all CGI and his head begins to go bald as he mentally pulls a large ship that was sinking out of the water, as well as some smaller boats around it (he's telekinetic now?).
- Back to Xavier (with hair) telling Erik he only wanted peace for him, and he replies there was never a chance for anyone to have that.
- Final scene: Erik picks up a black helmet, then he is shown from behind wearing a black and red suit (no cape or coat though) and the helmet. Screen cuts to black and the X-Men: First Class logo shows up (the one described above), then the release date.

thoughts?

Sounds pretty cool, but I'm not going to buy into it yet until I actually see the damn thing.

"Xavier and Lensherr Academy" I just almost eating my ears just smiling at the sound of it! Looks very promissing, and confirms The Last Stand in continuity.

I think it sounds awesome. But, who's surprised by that?

^Good point. Cutting Good trailers has ever been a problem for Fox.

I'd assume it would just be online officially soon. Trailer descriptions usually mean the trailer is on its way.

That description sounds very promising:
2 things though:
1.Havok has red And not blue blasts
2.Xavier is now telekenetic?

If it's legit, the red blasts don't bother me - it just adds to his likeness to Scott. As for the telekinesis... the clips could be entirely out of context. Or he could be telepathically controlling someone else. Trailers usually have a bit of false advertising.

Too much juicy stuff for the first teaser don't you think?

Mystique was reported to have only 10% of her screentime in blue makeup, and her first appearence in the trailer will be "with her skin turning black"?

About Havok:well on the red it didn't bother me just didn't understand why,but with them tying it with scot makes sense

Xavier: ok that would make sense didn't think ok that

She's blue, naturally. I would expect that to be the ten percent in makeup. However, her ability is to shapeshift, and I'd imagine we'd see her in several different disguises. As for things being too juicy, it seems to show about as much as the first 'teaser' trailer for 'The Last Stand' did.
