Days of Future Past X-Men: First Class filming thread: News, reports, images etc.

Hey to each there own I guess, I just wanted to see a actual character who has been important and well written put in a X-men movie rather then a sad character who appeared in a random book a few years ago. Sinister, shadow king,Apocalypse, the list goes on with X-Men mythology that could make coll visuals and are more important to the core of the comics. Some of them would not translae well to screen, but most would and have a bigger fan base to g and see it rather then a one time off shoot.
Well, since the HELLFIRE CLUB are the villains there is obviously no room for any of the character you just mentioned. Unless you want them to be henchmen?

Havok has been important and well written and he's in the movie, and yet all people do it complain about that fact. So, I'm sorry, if other a-list characters were in this film it would garner the same reaction. And you also have to think of the fact that most of the a-list X-Men characters have already made it into a film.

First official pic of the mutants:

Yeah, Emma Frost :hrt:.

HAHAHAHAHAHA...wow

aside from Emma Frost, the rest of the cast looks ridiulously bad. again, more crap from Fox

well there may be areason for this that has already been stated(like I said I have had a badfeeling about this movie and not checking in) But why is it not about Scoot, Jean, Strom, and Beast in the first days? That would feel more X-Men then tis. And yes Havok is in there if thats what you wanna call him since he is now older then Scott and that does take away from his character since the one I have been reading over the year the younger brother aspect was a big prt of his character.

I don't see whats so bad about the pic, sounds like a lot of nitpicking to me, looks pretty good to me , though i wish Beast was more visable, and would like to see Sebastin Shaw in it.

I also don't get all the negativity surrounding this movie from you guys, this isn't Bret Ratner or Michael Bay directing this, Matthew Vaughn isn't a hack the guys made good movies and is definetley on the come up, and Singer producing obviously means this will be in good hands and that Fox isn't gonna try and **** it up.

I guess you guy's forgot about the first two X-men films which Singer was responsible for.

And get over the fact theres no Cyclops,Jean Grey,Storm etc, theres a reason there not including them, its not like this movie is gonna suck just cuse there not in it, any comic book character obscure/dumb/unknown into a great character on film with great writing and great direction.

...Because this is the story that Bryan Singer came up with, and FOX OK'd it, and it's significantly different to what Schwartz and Penn were working on.

...And regarding the Havok character, things sometimes have to be adapted for a film to make a narrative work better...

Doesn't the large, loosely-knit group of "X-Men" in the comics (and animation) span many, many characters throughout its history? How does one know what "feels more X-Men" until you see the finished product?

Again, other than FOX's clearly inept marketing department, everything I've been hearing about this film so far sounds quite intriguing...

The attachment of Fassbender and McAvoy are worth the price of admission, I'd say...

And just a tidbit...a consensus larger than just me thinks Kevin Bacon delivered what is arguably one of his best performances when playing a villain in Hollow Man...so I'm thinking he has the potential to be really good here...

Just because Singer and Vaughn are involved doesn't mean anything to me...I always think think about what could have been compared with is actually delivered on screen. I have to wonder why the writer(s) felt it necessary to transpose several characters into a different time period when other mutants, around the same time period, would have been more appropriate [Where is Banshee by the way?]

It looks like Singer's Magneto shares the same tailor as Azazel...interesting...

:o

The characters look okay, and I haven't really been paying too much attention to this out of fear of it being a combination of X3 and that awful GenX movie of the 90's.

But a few of the things that sort of bug me are
1) They've gone with the "Beast was always blue and furry" approach
2) Charles has hair
3) Not sure why they were able to have Beast as a character, but not Scott and therefore settled on Havok

Maybe for this movie we have to say that Beast is 10 years older than the other x-trilogy characters and was one of the rollovers onto the next line-up that brought in Scott, Ororo and Jean. This allows Alex to be the older brother (like Ultimate), and we just 'go with' Hank having developed his look at puberty but his traditional oversized hands and feet at birth like in the comics

I like that they have at least attempted a slightly realistic but not black leather go at the original blue and gold uniforms.

Then again - maybe it's fake.

I really don't see any problem with Moira.

But yeah, the photoshopping of the pic is just awful.

And is that Salvadore between Havok and Mystique?

Fox need to release a better image soon because that picture is awful. I need to see better shots of the characters and costumes before I make my final decision because this image doesn't do them any justice.

That's a terrible pic, it has to be said. Even with the poor lighting, Beast looks awful, as if they went for the cheapest makeup and effects they could with him. Reminds me a bit of Blanka in that crappy Street Fighter film

Looks kind of cheesy. The Beast looks like Nightcrawler ,the jumpsuits look like a mix of the past and present costumes.January Jones looks sexy as Frost though.Hopefully a trailer will pop up soon so i can judge this flick a bit better.

Final decision? You gotta be ****ting me.....One picture determs whether you see this movie or will like it?

You guys are the worst fans of any fanbase, i have been on a ton of websites and none are act as much like a bunch of teenage girls like you guys.

How about we tone it down a notch and let people be entitled to their opinions?

I agree 100%!!! If you can't differentiate between the movie universe and the books then stay home and read your books. Unjustly nitpicking on the MOVIE site is just annoying as hell. Plugging in cinematic pieces that flesh out the story of Magneto & Xavier as told in the trilogy is a great idea. The Ultimate Universe can change cannon in their Universe and that's OK but the film Universe can't??? WTF? A good story is a good story regardless of how Stan Lee wrote it 50 years ago or even Chris Claremont25 years ago.

Does anyone have a link to a larger copy of this picture? I can only find smaller ones and would like a larger view. :(

Fox should have released a still from the movie of Emma in acting mode, as the first photo from the movie.

something like this, but a real still, not from a photo session:

january-jones-modelo.jpg

it would have created a better impression on the net, and still keeping the mistery about the x-men costumes.

There's no larger view because the image was unofficially released.

It's interesting how so many details have emerged in this little interviews: Sebastian Shaw's "new" power, Magneto's red and purple costume, it would have been easier to wait for the official pic one more week if they had just started putting these interviews on the web earlier last week, but I guess that's the new strategy FOX is using, and the unofficial group shot is kinda growing on me.

yes, the interviews would have been better one week before.

And release a still from the movie, instead of a full cast pic.
