Days of Future Past X-men First Class Sequels?

What should come next?

  • Nothing, it should lead into X1

  • Continue with McAvoy finding Jean, Scott etc

  • Continue but with the cast of characters they have now

  • It shouldn't continue at all, I won't like it >:(

I hope J.Jones/Frost has as little to do in the sequel as possible. Could be arguably the worst comic character on big screen ever.

I'd love to see a younger storm in a sequel.

I wish there were a solid timeline for this franchise. I think we now have to accept it would make more sense for the 'not too distant future' to be in relation to the opening scene of X1 (ie not too far ahead from 1944) rather than not too far ahead from the time of the film's release (2000).

If we assume Magneto and Xavier were in their 60s in X1/X2/X3 and are in their late 20s/early 30s in First Class, then there is 30 years between First Class and X1, which would mean X1 is set in the 1990s.

Young Xavier is said to be aged 12 in that scene where he meets Mystique (said to be aged 10), and wasn't that in 1944? The Cuban missile crisis was in 1962, so Xavier would then be 30 and Mystique 28 (but ages slower). Erik's age in 1944 isn't stated but would be similar to Xavier.

It's best not too think about this stuff to be honest. It's headache material.

I think it was a mistake to have Xavier and Raven meet at that time and at that age. It's just so wierd later in the film when Xavier is treating her like a kid (and she in turn acts like a kid) when there's probably only a couple of years difference in their age. Maybe I also object because the scene is incredibly brief and their entire relationship is skipped over. Why she couldn't have been introduced with the other team members is beyond me.

Sure, but they need to cure that headache and have a proper timeline for the franchise if they are keeping First Class in continuity.

Well, he was obviously a child prodigy if he became a professor at that relatively young age, so I'm going to deduce he was more mature and acted far older - which he does in the film anyway. Raven, meanwhile, ages at half the normal rate - and that may include emotionally/psychologically.

So, with his extra maturity and her slower ageing, the gap between them is wider than would otherwise be the case for two actual years of age gap.

I must admit I did quite the 'twist' of her knowing Xavier from a young age, because it was unexpected - and yet in some ways hinted at by her knowing the layout of the mansion in X1.

I think 'worst ever' is a bit extreme. Sounds like an immature fanboy reaction when someone says 'best ever' and 'worst ever' for something that clearly isn't.

I think the sequel is time for Emma Frost to shine and come into her own, now she is no longer under the thumb of Shaw.

Lol, while x-men are my favorite when it comes to marvel, I am hardly a fanboy. If you want to label my opinion fanboyish and immature, more power to ya.

Next time I have an opinion of an X-men character portrayed in a movie, I'll make sure to run it by you first as to make sure it is mature enough for you.

I still don't get the hate for January Jones/Emma, like at all.

I just didn't like her in the role or the way she came across in the film. Simple as that. Has nothing to do with her compared to the comics or anything but in In a film that was that good.. She was just..boring. Because the film was so good, it sticks out more, to me. Just one guy's opinion.

Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch would be nice to see. Not that they have to go into 'magneto is their father' right away, but they would be good additions as magneto probably wants to expand his group in the sequel.

You know exactly what I mean.

Emma Frost is hardly the 'worst ever comic character on screen'. What about the fan-hated 'Barakapool' in the Wolverine movie, what about some of the portrayals in the 1990s Batman movies???

It just seemed to me such a silly overreaction, and it is typical of fanboys to say 'best ever' or 'worst ever' at something they dislike. There are people in the Avengers thread who have said it was the 'best movie ever made'. LOL!
Extreme overreactions belong to immature fanboys.

The fact is that January Jones looked very like the comic book version in terms of outfits, except not as voluptuous. Her persona sometimes seemed very Emma-ish, sometimes not so much, but they obviously didn't want her to compete with Shaw on screen as the major villain presence so she was a henchwoman (much like Magneto's cronies in X1).

Like I said, the time for her to develop is in the sequel now that she is free of Shaw.

But it is. Until 'The Dark Knight Rises'. That will be the 'best ever' until 'Man Of Steel' and so on.

:woot:

Nah, even after TDKR and MoS, Avengers will still be the best comic movie made.

Just because you disagree with someone's opinion doesn't make their opinion immature nor does it give you the right to criticize it. Be respectful or don't respond.

A young Storm, with an actual Africa accent this time.
Jubilee
Ms.Marvel
Rogue that can actually fly
Apocalypse
Mr.Sinister

I wish they could use Jubilee and Rogue again but, alas, that would **** up the continuity even more. Child Storm in the Cerebro sequence has the American sixties look going on, but I'm sure they could still root her in Africa. As for the others, well, add Stryker and Shaw together and you essentially get a Sinister-type character, though I personally wouldn't mind seeing Essex. I feel like they'd really have to rework Apocalypse's character for him to be anything but hokey in the live-action universe.

Ms. Marvel is owned by Marvel.

The reason i mentioned her is becuase she's the source of Rogues flying powers - according to the 90's cartoon anyway.

Also, i wouldn't mind seeing Cable in there and perhaps Bishop. It would be cool to see some time travelling between the FC world and the other X-Men films. Perhaps it can be re-worked like Abrams Star Trek, where some time travel event changes the timeline, so we can then ignore the first 3 X-Films continuity, and Fc would have it's own seperate timeline from then on out.....

They can easily rewrite Rogue's flight stolen from another mutant or as I had it in my X4, make it a secondary mutation.
They spend no time explaining why Emma Frost turns to diamond, there's no reason they need to explain Rogue's flight.

And **** Cable and Bishop. :o

Or people who just really, really liked the movie. They can be excited over a movie they really liked.

People who start threads asking how TDK influenced the 2008 US Presidential election (which did happen here, and he was completely serious)...those are the ones we question.

But it's OK to go with "best ever!!" if you really like the movie. Nothing immature there.

And I've seen The Avengers 4 times now. One of the best superhero movies I've ever seen.

Again why do people want them to add tons of characters and screw up
contunity. If filmmakers listened to some of these the sequel would be
absolute mess.

Rogue and jubilee will not be In this film.Way way too early for storm to show up.

Storm as a teen or older, yeah it's too soon, however, if they were going to use her as a younger character, maybe they can get Lawrence's Hunger Games costar Amandla Stenberg?

I could see them adding Jubilee if they wanted. That ****s up continuity as much as Hanks cameo in X2.

I must see a movie with teenage Cyke/Jean/Storm and others!

We saw Storm in the Cerebro sequence - wasn't she having her eyes examined? Probably a doctor trying to figure out why they're blue! But could show up as a young teenager in the sequel, provide a "youthful" view of the mutant/human conflict. Scott and Jean could as well. I'm guessing the kid with the dark glasses playing catch was Scott. The color of the shades is hard to determine, but I'm pretty sure the likeness was intended. Plus he was wearing a blue shirt with red and yellow details, I think. But there's nothing dating the first two movies... I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be that much of a stretch for the trio to be Charles' first set of "official" students. It's not something I feel is absolutely necessary in the sequel, and I'm not banking on it happening, but they could make for a nice contrast to the conflict between Magneto and Xavier. I'd love to see Magneto's twins - Erik trying to recruit his kids and them being conflicted because they long for a father, but also feel used by a man who's chosen his persuit of vengeance over them.

Why would that need to be studied?

Because I've never heard of blue eyes naturally occurring on a black person. I'm pretty certain the gene for brown eyes is dominant over all other eye color genes. She would have two parents, both with brown eyes... naturally, she would have brown eyes, too. But Storm has blue eyes and white hair, niether of which would be genetically natural. I can see how blue eyes - while common among white people - would concern her parents. It's the same concept as yellow (Nightcrawler, Mystique) and red (Gambit, Sinister) eyes; they're part of her mutation.
