Sequels X-Men: First Class

Hmmm. This at least has a good chance of being good now. Not a fan of Singer's take on the X-Men though. Ultimately I'd love a reboot with someone new, but at least it'll be a good science fiction movie.

My only problem is that First Class seems a little "small scale" for Brian. If we can't get a reboot, than I'd rather him direct an X4 and take the series in a different direction, in the same continuity. I'm not a big fan of the era when humans didn't know that mutants even existed.

But Brian's involvement definitely sparks my interest way more than it was before, and I'm excited just to get another team X-men movie in development.

So, on the occasion of this day, I have to say:

HELL YES! Welcome back, Bryan.

Now to wait eagerly for an announcement on the creative direction.

This gives hope for something other than a 90 minute crapfest.

Perry White- Singer Returns

Very surprising news. I was convinced that Singer/Fox had their ties severely cut. It'd be interesting to see where he takes this franchise. Hopefully it being the early days doesn't take away the scale of these stories.

yes, I return just as I gear up for an internship in LA with Marvel Studios Film Development. ha

Hollywood is weird. No one stays dead. It's all about money.

Actually, back in 2006, there were reports that Singer and Rothman buried the hatchet shortly after Superman Returns was released. Singer even made recent comments that he wanted to come back and one of the trades mentioned that he was flirting with the idea of directing First Class.

Good news though. Glad to see him back.

i agree i rather go X4..... x titled film set after X3 then doing a prequel film. Cause it would really shoehorn what they can do. Also what possible villains could they use. Then it is nice singer is going back to xmen, i still say he should have never left xmen in the first place. So i may have hated what he did with superman, so hopefully he will do well with xmen again.

I wasnt too pumped for this before, but I sure am now.:up:

Though, yes, I would prefer to see him go forward with the X-world rather than go back.

Graydon Creed would be a very logical choice.

what is his backstory if you can give me a brief recap?

Graydon Creed is actually the son of Sabertooth and Mystique. He's human.

Anyway, Creed grew up vehemently hating his parents and mutants and founded Friends of Humanity, a grassroots community organization against mutants. Non-political. Eventually, the organization gains so much momentum that it becomes a political organization, pushing Creed near the presidential platform.

ok thanks, is there any other foes that could work in a prequel setting/before the world really knows the x-men?

After William Stryker, Graydon Creed would be redundant.

Not necessarily, depending on how they go, Creed represents a non-political grassroots organization that's hate and prejudice is completely community-based, and not politically based which could be a more dangerous and interesting threat when you think of the implications.

Think of Creed as a New Yorker who just doesn't like these mutants setting up shop down the street. That makes him VERY different than William Stryker.

What you need now is a mutant threat, which I think must come from inside the school.

There are but this is the thing...

The TV show Heroes has covered the "unknown mutant threat" so I don't know if Marvel/Fox will go that route, or if they should.

With Singer on board, this project could go in a radically different direction.

Sinister could work due to his connections with Scott... but again, Stryker in Wolverine kind of stepped on his toes a little bit.

I would definitely have the movie start at a time where the world is learning that mutants exist. I hate the whole concept of hiding mutation from the world, and only having a couple people be mutants.

I think Singer will do a really good job on portraying these kids as outsiders, who finally have a place to connect and relate to other people like them. I hope the friendships between the characters is focused on, because I thought that was lacking in the other movies.

I have mixed feelings about this. I wished Singer hadn't abandoned the franchise and do SR, resulted in an abomination that is X3, and now after SR is branded as a failure he pretty much crawled back to the franchise that made him what he is today. As a punishment, I think Singer should be strapped to a chair and be forced to watch X3 for 12 straight hours. What do you think?

This could be good. Hopefully singer can do a better job on the team action sequences
but yeah pretty cool

Uhmm... How about no? Singer isn't "crawling back". He did Valkyrie which was successful and if you listened to the part in the interview where he discusses his upcoming projects, he mentions first prepping a feature for WB called Jack the Giant Killer. He's also signed to do Battlestar Galactica and Excalibur. So he's hardly "crawling back".

Tom Rothman, also for the record, offered him the opportunity to direct X-Men Origins: Wolverine but he declined, and for years has been thinking of returning to the franchise.
