No no no. Most people actually have had mostly bad things to say about Jake playing a Persian. lol. Psylocke in X3 is also a bad example and so is Pyro.Well, Jake Gyllenhal can play prince of Persia, so why can't Viggo play Apocalypse in the movie verse. Look at Psylocke in X3 or American Collossos, Pyro.
Viggo is a very good actor, he is gonna make X-men movie even cooler.
Apocalypse, unlike the characters you just mentioned, is not a character that can appear arbitrarily and gets pushed throughout the film. He is a major character and antagonist with a complex history. They would have to tell his origin story and in order to do so believably, they will be required to try and get the facts straight. Even with Storm, since they decided that they were unable to get her backstory on film, decided to drop her African accent, but at least they were able to attempt honoring that original material in some other way.
Here's the deal--This is a chance to save the X-Men franchise. They shouldn't just get some random good actor and hope they can play the part. They need to start with the material first and work around that instead. THEN, after that, should they resort with something different. Everyone knows that Viggo is an awesome actor, but that doesn't mean he can do anything. Even if ethnicity wasn't the case, Viggo still wouldn't be right for the character, IMO.
