You Have My Permission To Lounge - Part 10

A frail attempt at revitalizing this thread.....

The current state of game development. Especially with Sqeenix.

We will have humans on Mars by the time the Final Fantasy VII remake comes out.

Dear God, FFVII was my absolute fave growing up, and even I totally forgot that was a thing.

Well, last I heard, its two games now. Assuming they don't fire and hire a new team. Again.

They've said it'll have an "episodic" release, whatever that means. Bottom line is Square Enix is a clownfraud company that shouldn't be trusted.

Well, the original game was three discs. I wonder if they're trying to mimic that :o
I keep forgetting that remake is a thing that is happening, and this was announced a few years ago without much of an update. Resident Evil 2 remake had an announcement trailer, and a good amount of meaty content and bonus information followed, but I guess it helps being that game is pretty short while FF VII is kinda massive.

Speaking of occupying Mars though.. how do you think that could affect publishing of games, movies, and other internationally released projects? It won't be that easy to bridge good internet connection between planets.

@Slade W this is the new location of the Lounge. Being in the Dark Knight Rises sub-forums days are behind us.

Do you think Jim and Barbara would be appalled and disgusted by Batman if they knew he shared a big, wild laugh with the Joker so soon after he shot and crippled Barbara?

I collect as many data packs as I can in Arkham Origins pretty early, so I won't have to torment myself with snipers later on. I did the same with the Advanced AR, which are thankfully less aggravating than their predecessors in Arkham City.

If you take the last scene literally, sure.

I did not face that Burnley Comm Tower glitch in Arkham Origins this time. It feels like a triumph that I could finally go up the vent to deactivate it instead of leaving it as it is.

I think what I enjoyed most about AO was how grim the whole game felt, even more so than Arkham Knight.

None of the games felt more grim than Arkham City to me, even with the threat of Joker taking over Batman's body while all the chaos is happening in the city because of weirdo Scarecrow and whiny Jason Todd.

I dunno, the villains seemed much more violent in AO. They looked less cartoony too, which helped. Thinking of Joker beating Black Mask with that pistol was rough, not to mention Bane tossing Batman around (literally) like he was a rag doll...it makes me wince.

Bane cutscenes is easily the best thing to happen to the character in the entire series. It is the only adaption with Venom that remembers Bane is a buff fighter.

Deathstroke deserved a chance at something that glorious.

A throwback to a time when Logan Paul wasn't a *****e...

Thandie Newton, Christopher Nolan, Sophie Okonedo & ‘His Dark Materials’ Author Philip Pullman Score New Year Honors

Thandie Newton, Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan, His Dark Materials author Philip Pullman and Hotel Rwanda star Sophie Okonedo are among the Brits to pick up a prestigious award as part of the New Year Honours List.

The distinguished awards are handed out once a year and recognize the outstanding achievements of 1,148 people across the United Kingdom.

CBEs – Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire – have been awarded to Nolan, for services to film, Okonedo, who is set to star as Lady Hatton in the forthcoming Hellboy movie, as well as Channel 4 drama Chimerica, children’s author Julia Donaldson, who created The Gruffalo, while Westworld star Newton has picked up an OBE, as has Downton Abbey star Jim Carter, who said that he was “particularly delighted this honour came in time to share with my mum, Molly, who is 99 and she was thrilled, she lit up at the news, so that was very good”.

Pullman has received knighthood for his on behalf of the Society of Authors and his successful campaign for fairer payment for writers as well as raising money for the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire. His book His Dark Materials, which has sold 17M copies, is being adapted into a big-budget TV drama for the BBC and HBO by Bad Wolf and New Line.

I rewatched Hollywoodland, based on his acting in the film would you think Affleck felt then and maybe still feels now that he's above comic book adaptations? I think 2006 was around when he did say he was embarrassed by Daredevil and he obviously shared that movie's version of George Reeves's desire to become a director.

That film at least did express that back in the '50s a lot of people thought superheroes were strictly for (young) kids and therefore low-quality.

superheroes back in the day were meant to keep boys busy given dads being overseas

This wasn't a 'find' by me and not sure its been discussed or not (or...ha even if its worth it) but recently I was told, then found in the Dark Knight Manual book a section of text where Bruce says he had been Batman for 5 years before wearing the TDK suit. I'd always gone with the Joker's line about " a year ago', meaning only a year had passed. I'm guessing if we are to use the text that would mean that he was Batman for 5 years and that it was only within that last year that the mob had finally been losing its grip on Gotham. Thoughts welcome!

I'm not sure how canonical that book actually is, but I like the idea. There was always some ambiguity there with Joker's line, but then there are things like Wayne Manor still not being complete that don't necessarily line up. Had Batman's career been longer I think some people wouldn't have had a problem with Bruce's retirement(s) in Rises. I think the sticking point for some wasn't that Bruce retired, but that he did after only being Batman continuously for two years at most.
