Your current opinion of Daniel Craig as James Bond

As far as Casino Royale is concerned, I don't have too much faith in EON or Martin Campbell. Not after Goldeneye and their laughable attempt at some akward character study of Bond. The overly dramatic "speeches" by 006 and M were odd and out of place. I thought M was going to bust out, "do you remember your 'Licence To Kill' mission?"

And considering they had the most popular Bond ever (inflation not included) in Pierce Brosnan and churned out 4 arguably lackluster Bond films doesn't bode well for Craig. The fact that they decided now, "What the F were we doing for 9 years, let's make a good movie" shows how inapt Barbara and Michael were/is after they took over.

James Bond isn't a character, he's an institution. If they decide to use Craig as a vehicle to retool the character, I think this will be met with resistance by the majority of people. Dalton took his place in history pretty well, let's hope Craig can do the same.

The "sexist, misogynistic dinosaur" and "do the martinis silence the screams?" stuff is kinda painful. It sounds like they've got a much better script this time, though.

I'm no fan of GOLDENEYE's script either (the original Michael France draft was so incredibly superior to the final one they used), but the script CASINO ROYALE has left that behind and actually gone for genuine character development and moments. There's some great stuff throughout - I'd give plenty of examples, but I don't want to spoil you guys - and there's none of the "Bond as written by Oscar Wilde" nonsense that plagued GOLDENEYE.

I don't find him much more in shape than those... But he is shorter than them, yes

Seriously dude, apart from the red x, are you honestly trying to tell us that Lazemby (based of that skinny-assed pic) was in better shape that Craig is now? I've seen more meat on D.J. Squalls! LOL!!

And for the record, I voted 4. He still has the blonde hair, but after a lot of therapy I've managed to get past it ;)

Fact is, Craig's a damn fine actor, 'Layer Cake' will forever go down in my memory as the movie that showed me how smooth he can be and what a good choice he'd be for Bond.

After everything we've seen so far, I still stand by my belief.

Never had a problem with the casting, though I do think they should've dyed his hair.

Daniel Craig is James Bond material (sans the blonde hair)...he's just not the Hollywoodized James Bond type.

i gave him a 4. he'll be a great James Bond, i just wish he looked more like the teaser poster.

I like the casting of Craig, it's very ''against the grain'', even if he is not handsome like Connery. He has a very masculine presence and is like a goddamn animal in the trailers and promo reels. I'm still not sure he's a great actor though, which you need to be if you are cast as bond and look nothing like Bond. I don't know if he will carry off the humour or charm, but time will tell-if it's a choice between him and Brosnan Craig will get my vote everytime.

He definatley looks badass and i know he will carry off the 'cold killer' side with flying colours, something Brosser could never do.

My main problem is Martin campbell. He's done a coo, T.V series 20 yrs ago, and average Bond film and a really crappy Zorro sequel. i'm sure the film wont be bad, but i think with the casting of someone as different as craig, they could have gone the whole way and cast a really innovative director(not in the Lee Tamahori sense lol). Tarantino would have nailed it-he respects Bond is a totally English proposition and would have done it right. Oh well.

what's wrong with GoldenEye? i love that movie...

GOLDENEYE's a blast - so don't get the wrong idea. I think GOLDENEYE is definitely a good entry in the series.

But it does have flaws. It's first third is very slow, and doesn't give Bond much of an active role. Bond is essentially reduced to a guy watching a monitor in a conference room for quite some time, and even when he gets to St. Petersburg, it takes him a while to actually get down to things.

The dialogue is also overly weighty, and sometimes pretentious. It just seems that every character throughout the film is hammering in the "The Cold War's over!" idea of the film at every moment, and it becomes a little much.

Goldeneye is actually my fave. I guess it was my first Bond movie, and got me into 007 to begin with.

Craig is hands down the most buff, in shape Bond ever.

The dude looks like he could kill men with his bare hands.

That's damn ****ing cool.

He is, however, ugly. I thought good looking was part of the criteria for the role....but whatever.

in 1955 an image of Bond was based on a photograph of American actor Richard Conte.

I personally didn't like the teaser.....thought it was weak and the music for the theme song sucked. I hope the full trailer is far better!

we should all have a wait and see attitude when it comes to Craigs Bond.

My Likes- youthful looking who is in shape and can be intimidating and Craig is a good actor and is English.

Dislikes- his hair should be a bit darker.

Other than that..we should wait and see with Craig.

I just saw the trailer for the first time and i must say Craig delivers as Bond! I loved Pierce as Bond (him not so much all his Bond films) and i tried to picture him in place of Craig in the scenes in the trailer. To be quite honest with myself, i can't see Pierce looking as rugged and as kickass as Bond looked in the teaser, so i'm all for craig!

That's something I actually liked in Goldeneye, that he didn't jump into action right at the beginning, but did a bit of investigation/spying before. He looked like a spy and not only an action hero. That said, he could have spent more time eating, drinking, playing and sh*gging, which is more Bondian. But having Bond not fighting right away is fine by me.

I think Daniel Craig is a good James Bond.. he is way better than George Lasby.. and we know he is better than Timmothy Dalton.. besides We'll never find the perfect James Bond... What it comes down to is this: Can he act well? and Can he drive a Austin Martin with Style?

Okay.. But I was speaking as in.. like we will never find another Sean Connery.. Maybe Dougeray Scott... for the Record Connery was the best.. except in Never say Never again.

I thought Connery's preformance in NSNA was great. One of the best parts of the film.

And for the record, I think Craig will be pretty damn close to Connery in terms of raw coolness, masculinity and ruthlessness.
