🇮🇱🇵🇸 The Israel-Palestine Politics Thread II

VICE: Is Israel trying to Spark another Intifada?

For Israel, these brutal outbreaks of violence aren't a disruption of the ordinary status quo, they're a way of preserving it. Something similar is happening now—the Palestinian flag has been raised at the United Nations, and Palestine has formally joined the International Criminal Court. Netanyahu is faced with the prospect of a peace process that might actually go somewhere, instead of stalling for time while the concrete cools in new West Bank settlements. And in the weird and chasmic world of Israeli politics, that might mean it's time for another war.

The USA's best allies is a short list. Isreal is one of them. Obama has greatly torn some bonds between Isreal and the USA.

Obama's Iran deal was terrible. He ( Obama ) refuses to call Terrorism by its name. More? Obama said Isreal should go back to the 1967 borders.

It has come to this. Isreal now shares intelligence with Russia, to help get rid of ISIS.

If Israel shares intelligence with Russia, the Russians aren't having it. Israelis tried to spy on some ISIS targets and Russian planes forced them to leave. Russia and Iran are on the same side fighting ISIS and they both support Assad's tyrannical regime.

The only countries that don't want this Iran deal are: Israel, Saudi Arabia, and rich Gulf countries. So what does that say to you about the current state of affairs?

The nation of Israel is on the stolen land of the Palestinian people. That is all.

Netanyahu is doing more damage to Israel than Hamas could ever dream of doing. Israelis are starting to realize that.

He's isolating Israel, and biting the hand that feeds him. And for what? To start a war with Iran? Over what?

Netanyahu is been going on about Iran getting a nuclear bomb when the Super Nintendo came out. Since then we've had the Nintendo 64, the Gamecube, the Wii, and the Wii U. Now Iran still doesn't have a bomb.

When is his credibility going to run out?

His own intelligence agency says he's wrong.

The Middle East ain't got nothin' on the Console Wars.

Israeli Prime Minister: Okay But The Holocaust Wasn't Totally Hitler's Fault

In an address to the World Zionist Congress in Jerusalem yesterday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided it might be a good idea to partially absolve Hitler of responsibility for the systematic genocide of six million Jews. In doing so, Netanyahu parroted an idea that has since been widely rejected by the vast majority of historians.

From The Times of Israel:

Netanyahu posited that the Nazi fuehrer did not initially intend to annihilate the Jews, but rather sought to expel them from Europe. According to the prime minister’s version of the events, Hitler changed his mind after meeting with Husseini — who was grand mufti of Jerusalem from 1921 to 1948, and president of the Supreme Muslim Council from 1922 to 1937 — in Berlin near the end of 1941.

“Hitler didn’t want to exterminate the Jews at the time [of the meeting between the mufti and the Nazi leader]. He wanted to expel the Jews,” Netanyahu said. “And Haj Amin al-Husseini went to Hitler and said, ‘If you expel them, they’ll all come here [to mandatory Palestine],’” continued the prime minister.

“‘So what should I do with them?’ He [Hitler] asked,” according to Netanyahu. “He [Husseini] said, ‘Burn them.’”

But as leading Israeli historian Tom Segev told the Times, even entertaining the idea that Hitler needed to be guided to the decision to exterminate the Jews is “entirely absurd.” And while “one can surely say that [Husseini] was a war criminal... one cannot say Hitler needed his advice.” Hundreds of thousands of Jews had already been killed before the two had ever met in the first place.

Netanyahu described his alternate history of the Holocaust in an effort to prove that Palestinians have a history of using holy locales in Jerusalem as an excuse to commit violent attacks against Jews. In doing so, and according to opposition leader Isaac Herzog, Netanyahu effectively “[trivialized] the Holocaust” and “[played] into the hands of Holocaust deniers.”

More than that, though, Netanyahu is doing this so that he can take the most tragic event in Jewish history and place blame squarely on the shoulders of the Palestinians. That takes an awful lot of hate.

F*** this guy

He was an enthusiastic supporter of the Holocaust, but saying he put the idea into Hitler's head is another matter entirely.

Demonize the Palestinians = Justification to steal more land, appropriation of East Jerusalem, and justification of Israeli brutality towards Palestinians

Ever read about that Mufti guy? He was NOT someone who like JEws.

The mufti was reacting towards massive European Jewish immigration to Palestine. He never had problems with the Jews that had lived there prior to the mass illegal immigration and nationalism. The Germans also met with Indians and Afghans trying to get them to join their side against the British. The mufti also didn't have much of a power base, Arab nationalism and violence towards European Jewish immigration was unanimous in the entire Arab world. Nothing has changed, don't we hear politicians and priests in America professing death to immigrants/ 'foreigners' today?

Ever heard of the Irgun? They didn't like Muslim, Jewish, and Christian Arabs, they even had death squads and ethnically cleansed villages. For their crimes they were rewarded a political party, the Likud, and their war criminals became Prime Ministers, foreign ministers, and justice ministers. And even today, Israeli Zionist Rabbis are calling for the entire genocide of men, women, and children of Palestine, Syria, and Jordan...this is what the 'best democracy' in the Middle East can offer.

If that is the case, we need to expect more.

He was a genocidal racist. He didn't convince Hitler to start the Holocaust, but let's just call him what he was. He in no small part made the conflict between Jews and Arabs in Israel / Palestine worse. He hated Jews when Israel was a Zionist pipe dream.

Let's assume you're right for a minute. What does that have to do with the plight of the Palestinian people? Isn't Germany and Japan part of the G8 some 70 odd years after WWII? Is Japan still occupied by the US? So what makes Palestine any different?

The fact is that since the 70's Israelis have been systematically/aggressively pushing Palestinians out of their own country and the rest of the world is too vaginal or have too many interests tied to the Israeli government to intervene. The US loves harping on about human rights this and that, but when it comes to Israel they conveniently turn a blind eye. Imagine living through the civil rights era where you are the discriminated party on what is your native land.

As far as I'm concerned Netanyahu and Assad are cut from the same cloth.

Or Bibi and Hitler for that matter. He probably holds the same contempt for Palestinians as Hitler did for Jews. Both are guilty of Lebensraum. Both seem to want a genetically pure state. Israel needs to remove Bibi and the Likud party from power.

The nation of Israel is on the stolen land of the Palestinian people. That is all.

I don't necessarily disagree, but the only viable solution at this point is two states.

It's unreasonable to expect Palestinians to just go live somewhere else, and it's equally unreasonable to expect the multiple generations of modern day Israelis born and raised in Israel to just go live somewhere else from the only home they've ever known.

Palestinians need to stand up against those elements that want to erase Israel's very existence no matter what, and Israel needs to reject racial supremacists like Netanyahu who treat the Palestinians like the Nazis treated Jews.

Lots of Israelis hold dual, sometimes 3 different citizenships.

Wow, Netanyahu hates Palestinians so much that he's willing to absolve Hitler.

Let's see... Israel up to that point had been invaded/attacked by mulitple Arab nations several times so you would expect a feeling of enough is enough. Again look at the treatment of Palestinians by their fellow Arabs.

Where the Jews suppose to go? Levant WAS their homeland. Jews where being rounded up and killed.

Also isn't Iran and Hamas calling for the destruction of Israel and it's people? Both sides have their loons.

BiBi has always been unreasonable when it comes to dealing with Palestinian Authority but that Authority has zero control on how Hamas acts.

I think it is a stretch but I am sure that guy encouraged Hitler.

Wow, Netanyahu hates Palestinians so much that he's willing to absolve Hitler.

Stop being stupid. BiBi is not absolving Hitler.

herakles I just wonder how much FAUX news you watch because you sure do parrot off those ideas like a good republican is supposed to

Herakles, from what I have heard, but can't confirm, there was actually a few areas that a proposed Jewish state was to be founded. One was in South America in the vicinity of Argentina, the other was in Africa. They decided instead to occupy a region that was 80% Arab and thought it was a good idea.

As for Hamas and the PLO, they were about to sign a peace deal, even coming close to recognizing Israel...but Israel, under a false pretense of blaming Hamas for murders, invaded Gaza and bombed Gaza killing over 2,000 people to keep them hostile and divided.

Is Israel was to reduce tensions in the area they need to start showing the Palastinians respect, living with them in harmony. But that won't happen because of the deep seeded racism between the two.

There has always been a Jewish presence in Levant. The Jews wanted barely 1/2 of what is todays Israel but the Arabs attacked them and got the asses handed to them again and again.

I agree but Hamas constantly lobs bombs into Israel.

like you and thankprogress and Msnbc or Hamas news. I have Jewish friends and I am 46 so I am old enough to remember who PLO and Arab states would attack Israel.

Also I stopped watching fox when Glen Beck left. I found the chalkboards and his doom and gloom stick comical. I would just sit their, drink a beer and laugh at all his BS about Obama. Obama is no where near the worst or the best POTUS. His foreign policy is f'ing embarassment though.

BiBI IS A roadblock to peace between Israel and the Palestinians but Hamas and the PLO haven't changed their stance on Israel's right to exist. Also other Arab nations haven't exactly helped the situation as well.
