1,2 Freddy's coming for you: Welcome to the elm street thread

More than anything I want to see Freddy's origins explained which is why I really wanted a prequel(forget the pilot episode of Freddy's Nightmares). However,I don't want them to go back as far as Rob Zombie did for Michale Myers in Halloween. I don't want to see Freddy as a child. Start showing him in his late teens and early 20's. Show what happened, but not too much.

The original Halloween started with Michael Myers as a child too.

If they're going ahead with a remake, I don't need an origin story. I think it's better for everyone not knowing he was a real person until later in the story. It just works better and makes it scarier, especially when it turns out that Nancy's mom having the glove hidden away in the house.

I don't see any need to see Freddy's childhood (really, do we need to see the horrid childhood of every movie slasher now??), and there's really no point in showing what he did to the kids he killed, other than just some gratuitous scenes of little kids being murdered.

yknow
this is sorta off topic but kinda on topic... in the dream scenes there are always the little girls w/the jump rope chanting "1,2 freddys comin for u" im thinking... did he kill those girls and thats why they're in the dream???

or did he just create the girls in the dream world for spooky effect...
if he did kill them id love to see that part in the movie... thatd be spooky and creepy

i was always under the assumption those girls were his victims before he was turned to a demonic creature. i always viewed the nightmare realm as being in part of freddy's mind or something.

yknow
i agree NOW, but i always thought like maybe freddy killed em as a kid... like maybe they taunted him and made fun of him as a youth. just my thought (my incredibly dark and morbid thought, yipes)

There was a "prequel" story in the Elm Street novelizations that came out back in the 1980s (apologies if that's been mentioned here), and according to that Freddy's first victim was a kid trying to pick his pockets while he was passed out in an alley. He awoke suddenly and smashed a bottle on the boy's head. He carried the unconscious boy into a basement and slashed him until he bled to death.

That gave him an enormous sense of power, and he created his glove and then used it to kill a little girl that he lured away from a school playground.

He just went on the killing spree from there, which ended the way we already knew about from the movie. It didn't really add much, the story was pretty predictable and kind of gross.

i think we saw enough of how freddy became freddy in Freddy's Dead. Id rather them just remake the original but have its differences.

really?
thats rlly interesting, than i could be right on the $ then. thanks man, ive never read any of the books (ironic cuz i own of them).

I still want the little child murderer plot in it.

Also maybe have Nancy have a sibling and have him (I prefer a him in this case) get killed off.

I dont know, maybe have the younger Male sibling then Glen?

A sibling would cause more emotion to the family and Nancy if a sibling died then a boyfriend.

Honestly, I think if the sibling idea flies, to have the sibling older than Nancy, and killed by Kruger while Nancy is a baby, and then they raise here like she was an only child. It would add to the distrust of her parents, the blow would be bigger of hearing about the neighborhood parents killing Freddy, and it wouldn't take away from teh boyfriend's death.

Yeah, but if that was the case, i'd would be the **** if the mom told her the sibling story when she showed Nancy the glove.

this is a great idea....
i just hope the flick turns out well.

A little tidbit i found interesting.

Craven also reports that he thinks Platinum Dunes is officially off of the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET remake, along with New Line Cinema founder Bob Shaye.

I don't like the sound of that. If its true don't even bother then.

"The fact is I heard from my agent that a remake (of the original Nightmare on Elm Street) was going to happen. So I called my friend Bob Shaye. As you may know New Line Cinema had now been shut down by Warner Bros, who owns it, all of the properties were assumed by WB and Bob didn’t know any more about it than I did, he told me I certainly have no control over it. Michael Bays company Platinum Dunes had it, but I believe that is no longer the case. There is a writer on it, I don’t know if it’s a remake or prequel. I don’t have any real information about it." - wes Craven.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ithink thats something thats not really needed and could mess up the whole movie cause some writer or producer would think its cool. Just stick to how the original one was with a bit of new info. Don't totally mess with it.

Wouldnt addin a new sibling be considered new info?
I mean besides adding a piece thats not to much.

Plus killing off a family is a bit cliche. and nancy wants to get revenge and all that other stuff turning her into buffy or something. lol.

Umm, have you seen the original of NoES? Nancy goes Buffy anyway. Adding in a dead sibling would just add to the story.

O-T: Nancy came before Buffy, so she technically was the first to willingly take on a supernatural demon thing, but I know what you mean.

LOL @ buffy.
I'm just saying cause when you think of strong female heroines people think her. shes gonna round house freddy and then the guy who plays giles is gonna pop up and say very good your on your way to becoming on of the best.:woot:

Yeah, the mom telling Nancy the sibling is dead later on in the story when the glove would add to Nancys insanity towards Freddy and her mom (just like the orginal)
