Sure there is a downfall, but most teams don't even come close to being a Dynasty to even experience that downfall. What is better, becoming a dynasty and falling or never climbing to take that fall like alot of mediocre teams in the NFL.

Don't go all Dalai Lama on us...

Don't go all Dalai Lama on us...

The Patriots were so bad around here for so long, they were blacked out on telelvision for years. Now they have a chance to have the best season out of any NFL team all time, and so many fans are ripping at them wanting them to lose. However, if it was the team they rooted for, they would be sleeping with a football. It just humors me to no end.

I am in the small minority of non-Patriots fans who WANTS them to win it all, mainly because I want to see history. I think it'd be an amazing accomplishment to bear witness to, and with my own team out of the running, I find myself "rooting" for it to happen.

Oh, I agree. Just the whole "If you don't fall then you didn't try" thing just struck me funny for some reason, that's all.

If the Pack lose next week, I'll be rooting for the Pats as well for the same reason.

yes you can:cmad:

Rams weren't a dynasty... not even close... they could have been... but not quite... there are only four dynasties in the NFL and we all know who they were decade by decade... going back to back isn't a dynasty either because I think you really need to do it over a period of time... I mean you look decade by decade of teams you can make an argument for...

70's... the Dolphins went back to back... just a great team... they really didn't do it for a prolonged amount of time... so that doesn't count in my book. The Cowboys are the only other team... over shadowed by the Steeler teams ofcourse... but you look at the four year gap between their Championship years... getting beat by the Steelers the ensuing years... they never quite put it together... they were never quite dominant... but certainly the most consistent team over a ten year span... not quite a dynasty

80's... the only other team that comes to mind is the G-Men... pretty much the Cowboys of the seventies for a shorter period... but the consistency of excellence wasn't quite there... 49ers were too dominant back in the day compared to the rest of the NFC. Yeah the Giants were consistent... but the 49ers were more consistently the better team in that time... and you can't have multiple dynasties at the same time... and ofcourse Gibbs won his three with essentially three different teams... way too far apart.

90's... the Broncos went back to back.... the 49ers lost some heart breakers to the Cowboys and Young really never got back to that level... his competition was just too tough... heck they were lucky to get a piece of the pie in that decade that one year... the team that is the real head scratcher is the Packers... It's still hard to believe Farve has only won one Superbowl... 97' was inexcusable... you gotto finish there... 98' was an even bigger disaster as the team was poised to make yet another run for the third year in a row... the Rams could sort have been that sandwich dynasty clumped in there with the likes of the Giants or Redskins.... returning only two years later... had they taken care of business... they probably stick with Warner and that nucleus for a few more years than they did and maybe they would have made more playoff runs... not to be though...

00's... I am not even putting the Eagles up here as a model franchise... not even close... yes they were consistent... but even if they won in 04 its debatable... they played in the watered down conference. The team that will be vying for that close second is Pitt and Indy... right now I think Indy will be remebered more so than the Steelers... keep in mind the Steelers, although they had many playoff appearances... were pretty much blown away in both AFC title games... the Colts have stood toe to toe with the Pats... until Roethelisberger and the Steelers beat Brady and the Pats in a big spot during this run... or the Steelers beat Manning en route to another Superbowl title. The Colts are clearly the number two team of the decade even if they never win another playoff game with this current nucleus of players.

Looks like the bandwagon stops here for the Cowboys and their "fans". For the actual Dallas fans, you had a good season, but even you have to admit, that your team was not as good as advertised. Not to say the Packers are better, because, talent wise, they aren't, but Dallas got way more credit than they deserved, and quite frankly, I got more sick about hearing about the Cowboys than I did of the Patriots. Of course, with the Packers winning, that just means the Favre haters will have to put up with every sportscasters man love for him for at least one more week. Even as a Packer fan, I admit, it gets out of hand quickly.

The Giants never get respect...

they are always the underdog, They're coaches generally suck

and the players always play through it.

I hope the giants continue to pull out surprising wins because all this entrenched loyalty to rising teams in the NFL, which often only lasts as long as it takes untill the next "dynasty" to roll in... is worthless

its the upsets and surprises that are interesting and worth watching.

However, as a diehard giants fan, having watched them wrestle a win from the cowboys that brought TO to tears...

I'm numb to whether they can beat the packers.

But i hope

Americas team is the one that wins the superbowl that year. Man up ya nancy.

Giants just haven't had much of a history that's all there is too it... couple of years with Parcells and that's it... not exactly a prolific franchise... New York generally has had mediocre football teams for the most part... its not a football town... look how much disrespect people showed the Pats in 01... Giant fans want respect? Go out and beat the Pack and win this NFC title and give a half decent effort in the Superbowl unlike last time. None of those two things in all likelyhood are going to happen... and in the big picture... what is this win going to do if the Cowboys win the division next year and the Giants go 7-9? It all gets forgotten... and none of it will matter from there on out until the two teams meet up again in the playoffs. Its about Championships... exceeding expectations you had for your team is a feel good story but none of that stuff carries over to next year. Its about winning Championships when all is said and done.

So it's gonna be Greenbay vs the Pats. I like that. That's huge IMO. I want to see Brett go to one more SB and I want to see a perfect season with the Pats. It's historic. Giants won't beat Green Bay.

That's not "all there is to it". You need to read a little about NFL history before you post. The Giants won 6 pre Super Bowl era NFL Championships. They also played in an additional 10 championship games. In their first 40 years of existence, they had something like 32 winning seasons. Granted, they were quiet from the mid 60s to mid 80s but that hardly negates what they did before that and the success they had once The Frumpy Egomaniac arrived and got them a couple Lombardi Trophies.

Thats sports in general for you, love your own, hate the others

I'm afraid this is setting up to be the team and city rematch against GBY and the Farve, from SB XXXI....

....now only if the Pats could have defeated the Colts last year and revenged it's lost to the CHI Shuffle from SB XX.

Coincidence... ;)

you couldnt be more wrong guy,

History means nothing, after time people forget championships as well... Giants were dominant in the beginning of this leagues history. and they are among the all time top 3 teams with hall of fame inductees, along with being one of the oldest teams in the NFL

nobody could care less, and I as a giants fan honestly dont give creedence to it

and that goes for everything amongst all teams before the mid 90's, the attention span of fans that demands the respect your talking about is about 10-15 years long.

I'm not making a case for why you or anyone else should respect the Giants, sorry if i came off like that but i was stating how nobody ever expects them to show up and play, and when it comes to upset and passion... people are careless in predictions against them, and thats what makes the games worth watching.

dija see the Pats game?

Anything can happen Advanced. Chargers won't supposed to beat Indianapolis and look how that turned out. When you think about it this can go either way as it could be the Chargers/Giants or Chargers/Packers.

My team is the Patriots and have been from day one, so I'm definitely hoping for a perfect season as it would definitely be an historic moment. I just won't get ahead of myself because I know anything can happen.

Right...

Apparently not with that previous quote... I was wrong about the Giants in the pre merger era... football was an after though at that time in the country... I guess it counts for something... people remember Superbowls... Giant fans will remember this little run they had in 07... but really no one else is going to remember if they don't win it. And don't give me "what the experts think"... these things are always a crap shoot as everyone knows... look I laid the target on my back by essentially guaranteeing that Superbowl matchup as pretty much everyone else is at this point... check back with me in a week. All I can say is go Pack... they have the best shot against the Pats...

Please. I told yall Maroney was a beast but yall dismissed it and Jags paid the price. I told yall Moss would own but yall dismissed it. Told yall wed go 16-0 from before week 1 but yall dismissed it. Told yall Santonio would own. Told yall Adrain "All day" Peterson would slow down big time. So I wouldn't expect it to start now.

"Choice words in football intelligence"

Fran thank goodness you aint a coach. Like most reporters, you ignore film and focus on simply numbers to determine whose playing good is bad. Like many, your under the false impressions that

-Joseph Addai is great and deserved a pro bowl spot
-Maroney sucks
-Reggie Bush is finished
-So is Vince Young
-Matt Leinart will be great
-Adrian Peterson will be good next season

You dont seem to actually watch the game or atleats understand what happens or hwo their gameplanned, if you did you notice Addai and Petersons enormous drops in productions and so many more...sorry dude, but I dont what you could call my football intelligence that I wouldn't like. The only point I really pushed this year was Bush would break out and he didn't but last I checked hell be back next season, so really lets hear these "choice words" for what I know about football.

As for the Owens point, hes been playing great football for over a decade, its the same way I meant for Jason Taylor. At some point they all want to win and New England - like it or not- is pretty damn good at doing that right now, so yes A LOT of people do want to be here.

You may not like me or the team I like, but I wanna know just what you getting at.

:cries:

Your love for Maroney is hilarious....the simple FACT is Addai has had the better career thus far, and its not really close. As for Bush I still stand by my statement that he is overhyped, and IS NOT a featured back.

As for the others, Leinart was IR pretty early this year, 5 games I believe so how can you make an assessment that he stinks and can't get it done with Fitz and Boldin, when he got hurt:huh: .

Next on to Vince Young.....he is truly a project at the QB position. He has bad mechanics which have been well documented, plus he has a really tough time reading defenses. Didn't he have one of the lowest Wonderlic scores ever? Weapons or not I believe he will continue to struggle.

As for Peterson, I will bet you any amount of money that he finishes in the top 2 or 3 next year in rushing well ahead of your boy Maroney.

Oh and Owens will never be a Patriot.

:yay:

I can't wait to be part of a full season and argue all this stuff. :D

Even from 2 games though, I can see Vince Young needs a LOT of work. :cwink:

The only best thing is that Cowboys lost.
I go for any team in the playoffs right now but the cowboys.

Picture of the day :D
