Well... I have a Steve Yzerman jersey. I love it.

I consider it "retro" since he's retired, and he's one of the NHL's best players ever.

So if I get a Burress jersey and he retires, hey, it's old school! :o

Also, he came from a great college. So. Yeah.

Wasn't he a Spartan

I am in the small minority of non-Patriots fans who WANTS them to win it all, mainly because I want to see history. I think it'd be an amazing accomplishment to bear witness to, and with my own team out of the running, I find myself "rooting" for it to happen.

I feel the same way. I love watching Tom Brady play, because it is like watching Joe Montana in his prime. It is amazing.

To think, people are already saying, "this guy could be the next Tom Brady."

Joe Montana would throw hissy fits after a false start penalty when he's up by 30? I don't remember that.

I can't wait to be part of a full season and argue all this stuff. :D

Even from 2 games though, I can see Vince Young needs a LOT of work. :cwink:

Vince Young is like Michael Vick. Completely overrated due to his speed. The NFL is not like college football though. Speed will only get you so far and players who are dependent on it like Young and Vick...well...as soon as their legs give out (which usually happens before they reach 30) their career is over. I'm not saying it is bad to be a fast QB, you just shouldn't focus on it. Look at David Garrard. He is a QB who is both fast and has his arm and decision making ability to fall back on. Matt Leinhart may not be better at the present time, but he is only in his second year. I guarantee at some point he will be better than Vince Young as he is a better quarterback. He just doesn't have the speed to carry him while he adjusts to the NFL.

If they don't win a superbowl in their first year, they are a disappointment ot me.

No, he wouldn't, but it works for Brady. It is that competitive nature that drives his team to perfection. Sure, what is a little mistake when you are up by 30? Not much, but if you don't put your foot up your lineman's ass he may not learn from that situation and do it when you are down in the 4th with 2 minutes on the clock and the game is on the line. Such a double standard though, when Peyton Manning yells over a penalty he is just being a strong leader...but when Brady does it he is "Throwing a hissy fit."

Your Peyton Manning hate is fascinating.

And for the record, I hate his attitude too, I just disagree with you because I like seeing you angry.

Speaking of Manning...

What does everyone think of Peyton after last night? Does his blowing it yesterday bring back the question "Can he win big games?" Sure, he won a superbowl...but he got a lot of help from refs and other teams (Rex Grossman did what Neil O'Donnell did in Super Bowl XXX). Was last year simply the exception that proves the rule?

I don't hate him, I just think he is an arrogant prick who tends to get overrated when there are far more deserving players.

I'm not angry.

Honestly, before you go you're defending Peyton Manning and making excuses route, I really do think everyone has underestimated the Chargers this season due to their rocky start. When you have arguably the best running back in the league and maybe, in history of the NFL (bold) and a solid defense, you're going to be able to win some big games. On Peyton's play, well I mean, he did play horribly against them in the regular season 6 int's, so maybe the Chargers have found the scheme that works against the great Peyton Manning.

I can see the hate in your eyes.

Him losing yesterday certainly doesn't bring back that question.....the team was banged up, and there running game wasn't effective. IM not a big Manning fan either, but there is no denying he is one of the best ever.

Best in the history of the NFL? Bold indeed. I still say Barry Sanders or that other Payton :cwink:. Though he is certainly on his way to being up there. I mean, he is only 28 and he already holds the all-time rushing touchdown record.

I agree people underestimate the Chargers, but can you really use to LT argument for yesterday? He was injured and sat out for 90 % of the game and hell, their star quarterback sat out half. But for the most part, that falls on the defense (if you can't stop Billy Volek, you have a whole new level of problems). However, the refs were making all kinds of calls that were at best questionable...that game was set up perfectly for the Colts to blow the Chargers out and Peyton just couldn't deliever. He had two opportunities to win the game when it mattered, and he blew both of them.

Seems like an excuse. And Tom Brady didn't exactly have the best running game this season or the seasons in which he won the Super Bowl rings. The Chargers were banged up too, that is just the nature of the game. The great ones win it regardless. I think Jerry is right, Peyton just can't win if everything isn't perfect for him.

I think Peyton Manning suffers from matchup problems with certain defenses. The Patriots had his number for years but he finally figured it out. I think San Diego had his number this year for whatever reason.

I agree...I think they were also referring to his back story, which is kinda similar. Plus hes a tall guy with good accuracy and a nice arm.

That guy could have a bright future in this league.

Well you also have to look around at his supporting cast, they really didn't play a big part either. Harrison fumbles on the first play, Dallas Clark drops the wide open pass at the end of the game. Football is a team sport, and while the two picks he threw were directly on him, no doubt, the whole team crumbled, on both sides of the ball. I mean, where was Bob Sanders the whole game? :o

The Colts were certainly not a dominating team this year. The games I watched them play in with the NFL Package, they seemed to be going through the motions. They did not look dynamic as they had in years past. I am disappointed that they didn't beat San Diego to face off against the Patriots again. Last year's game was great.

What's perfect? Having a nonexistant running game, and defense that can't stop Billy Volek is tough for anyone to overcome even Tom Brady would struggle.

But isn't he supposed to be the quarterback who can read a defense like no other? And isn't it awfully odd that he has these "match up problems" any time he has a big game and it is on his shoulders? I think he just chokes.
