Garrett is paid the same money as Philips, which (to me) means Jones is grooming him to be their next HC if Cowboys keep fizzling out under Philips. However, with the lackluster month of December and an embarassing loss to Giants at Texas Stadium, where their offense looked to have stalled, I'm not really buying Garrett even though they racked up alot of points early in season.

Philip Rivers is listed as doubtful for the AFC Championship. The San Diego Union-Tribune has confirmed that Rivers' ACL is partially torn.

However, Rivers practiced Friday and still has a chance to play against the Patriots, pending his performance in pre-game warmups. "It'll be day-to-day," GM A.J. Smith said. "We're going down the same road as (Antonio) Gates." The Chargers used Gates in the Divisional Round despite listing him as doubtful. Still, Billy Volek seems likely to play extensively on Sunday. Billy Volek has proven that he can play QB in the NFL. Rivers if he's doubtful and truly does have a partially torn ACL should probably not be competing. He's not much use to his team on one leg.....

Volek proved he could lead one, successful 4th quarter drive against a tired defense. I'm still not sure that he can lead a team for an entire game against the best team in the league.

Ravens hire Harbaugh to replace Billick

Ravens hired former Eagles secondary coach John Harbaugh as head coach.

Harbaugh coached special teams before taking over Philadelphia's DBs in 2007. He has never been a head coach at any level or an NFL coordinator. But Harbaugh, 45, impressed owner Steve Bisciotti with his approach and energy during the interview process and is well thought of around the league. He's expected to name Pat Shurmer offensive coordinator, and may try to retain Rex Ryan to run the defense. LOS ANGELES — Georgia Frontiere, the St. Louis native who became a hometown hero when she brought the NFL's Rams from Los Angeles in 1995, died Friday. She was 80.

Frontiere had been hospitalized for breast cancer for several months, the Rams said in a statement posted on their Web site.

"Georgia Frontiere was the first lady of sports in her native St. Louis," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement that also praised her philanthropy and concern for retired NFL players.

"Our mom was dedicated to being more than the owner of a football team," daughter Lucia Rodriguez and son Chip Rosenbloom said in the team's statement.

"She loved the Rams' players, coaches, and staff. The warmth and generosity she exuded will never be forgotten."

Yeah but i'm saying that Volek has proven he can be an NFL starter, he was a pretty solid backup for the often injured Steve McNair with the Titans and with Rivers going down it's good to have a guy who's been in the league, has had a lot of playing time, rather than being stuck with a guy like say Cleo Lemon as your backup. Which may very well have been the case had the Dolphins not traded for him.

Volek is a pretty good QB, I know he won me my Fantasy Football championship a few years back when he went for like 400 and 4 tds. He was much better in college then another Fresno State QB [BLACKOUT]David Carr[/BLACKOUT]

Volek could be potentially dangerous against the Patriots mediocre defense, they dont exactly have a lot of footage to go by and game plan against him. Unless they reach into the vault. One of Belichicks biggest talents is game planning. The fact that he spoke so highly of LT this week at the press-conference already means in my opinion that he has a way of shutting LT down. So Volek is going to need to do a whole lot to beat the Patriots.

Can he? We'll see, i think so.

Will he? I doubt it.

for all this crap talk about the Giants playing dirty and such....it bugs me...the Giants led the league in sacks and on top of that they were one of least penalized teams in the league this season....I have a good feeling about sundays game....

Although I'm a Raiders fan, I was really heartbroken when she moved the team to St. Louis. The Rams was so synonymous to Southern California. I'm glad the Raiders was able to bring a SuperBowl Championship to Los Angeles and all of Southern California.

So it would seem. It annoys me that every other team, they pick apart what they did wrong...except Indy. I know the sports media had a bias towards the NFL's poster team...but damn, to mention them ONCE in a breakdown of a playoff game. Its ridiculous.

He seems to be getting a free pass because of the Superbowl win. It happens.
