2009 NCAA Football Thread: Revenge of the Computer Polls

I really liked Pat Forde's picks for the Heisman with Geirhart and Boise State's quarterback as finalists and the rightful winner in Suh. Of course it won't happen, but that's what it should be instead of Tebow, Ingram, and McCoy.

One the other hand, I couldn't stand Mar May trying to defend the BCS and even trying to defend Boise State vs TCU. It will be a great game, but it shouldn't be happening unless it's in a playoff. I guess the BCS doesn't like the prospect of three undefeated teams at the end of the year who AREN'T the National Champs.

My nephew and I watched the SEC championship..both went :whatever: at Tebow crying.

The chuckled at the Texas/Nebraska game at how low scoring it was, and how they kept trading interceptions and punts.

yay...UConn is in the Pizza Bowl with South Carolina....

I think the only way a team like a TCU or a Boise State gets into the national champioship game is if they go into one of these big teams stadiums, be it Austin, Gainesville, etc and throws a beating to one of these SEC teams

the BCS is kinda like the Oscars, its basically to the point where you have to eat **** for a long time and once the Academy makes its own silly determination that you've eaten enough **** and been nominated enough times you get one

Which is why the NCAA should simply drop the charade and have the BCS schools be their own conference, and the non-BCS schools as their own conference

Strong men also cry.....strong men also cry

:hehe:

At this rate, I would rather the BCS people come out and just say that a Non-BCS school is never going to be allowed to play in a National Championship game under this system than continue to shove teams like TCU and Boise State under the rug and say that the two powerhouse-schools (This year, Bama/Texas) are the clear 1 and 2 and that they don't need a playoff.

But that requires common sense. Something that the NCAA lacks with regard to football, as well as basketball (telling a college that a player is eligible to play in a tournament twice, and then retroactively declaring him ineligible a year later, and then punishing said school for playing that individual anyway)

Dan Wetzel talks playoff http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/footba...lug=dw-ncaafplayoff120709&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

On one of its propaganda websites, the BCS asks whether a playoff would really satisfy everyone?

“NO!!!” it boldly declares.

Who knew Ari Fleischer wrote like a sixth-grade girl on an iPhone?

Give the campaign credit for this: It’s hardly bothering to explain why the BCS is any good.

Instead, it launched a clown-show website (playoffproblem.com) that claims there can’t be a playoff because college football is incapable of figuring out how one might work.

Sure, every other sports entity on the planet can do it, but we somehow can’t decide how many teams would be in it or where they’d play and so on? So stop asking.

the BCS also launched a twitter page to try and "connect with the fans"...didn't work out too well

That Twitter page looks like a bigger sham than the BCS itself is. Comes across like a parody ...or are they just that simple/clueless/arrogant?

Have I mentioned that I hate Twitter? Not as much as I hate the BCS, but still.

The first page of Playoff Problem.com makes me want to drink gasoline rather than read anymore. Is that the only way anyone can defend the BCS?

I think there can be a compromise...keep the "BCS" and create a playoff system using the bowl games as "playoff" rounds....if anything some of the bowls might have to move a week or two to accomodate

Seriously, It's like they know they're full of crap, but trying to convince themselves and everyone that they aren't. Blech :whatever:

Maybe the NCAA can hire Older Jim Mora and have him go "Playoffs? Don't talk about Playoffs, You Kidding me? Playoffs?" everytime the question of a playoff system in college football comes up.

I didn't have a problem with it...unless you have played in a game of that magnitude it is very hard to understand the emotion involved...

His interview afterwards was very classy, classy to the extreme...

Actually, that's not a bad idea. Probably why it will never see the light of day.

...so Brian Kelly has been contacted by Notre Dame about the head coaching spot. He told the team that he is going to New York for an interview and said that he may not be back in time to coach the Bearcats in the Sugar Bowl.

What a jerk! :argh:

No, he told the team that he is going to New York for an interview and said that it's possible he won't coach in the Sugar Bowl (if he accepts the Notre Dame job). I added in the parenthesis because Kelly worded it along the lines of "well I can't GUARANTEE that I will wake up tomorrow" sort of deal.

That's not what I heard...

I'm hoping for Gerhart.

Tebow doesn't belong on that list.
