Fire,

I've heard rumors of Tubberville go to GA as a DC/ head coach in waiting with the agreement Richt leaves in two years as, supposedly, he wants to do something in the missions field. Sounds quite laughable, but I am serious I've heard these rumors.

Comments?

I've heard em too. They're 100% bull.

I am not so sure because their cash crop would make MORE money with a playoff system. The increased finical intake is the biggest reason why I still believe the playoff system will eventually happen.
No doubt it'd make more money overall. My belief is that the lack of control of where that money goes is what would dissuade them from championing change.

Outside of forced intervention, someone is going to have to show a concrete plan for a lucrative structure that still has the BCS conferences getting their bellies scratched first with guaranteed (and likely unequal) payouts before they even think about changing the system. Too much power to give up.

I couldn't see any truth in them either, I was curious if they'd gotten in play in GA.

I DO think Tubs does want to coach again, and I think UGA would be a good fit for him - but I don't see him doing anything like that rumor detailed. He's not a second fiddle type of guy.

I don't know if Richt would want to leave, but I think he's gonna have to win bigger in the next few years than he has in the past few of there will be some grumblings - deserved or not.

BCS conferences would be guaranteed to get their bellies scratched first simply due to the fact that most of the teams in any sort of play off system will ALWAYS be BCS conference teams.

That's what make this BCS stupidity so baffling, the BCS is putting loyalty to it's system ABOVE increasing profits.

Richt is going to have to make a championship in the next 3 years.

Source: Irish Interested in UConn's Randy Edsall
One day after a source familiar with the Notre Dame coaching search said things were "heating up" with Cincinnati coach Brian Kelly, another coach has emerged.

There is mutual interest between Notre Dame and Connecticut coach Randy Edsall, another source said Wednesday.

Edsall is a solid defensive mind who showed great leadership on the Connecticut campus in the wake of the tragic death of player Jasper Howard.

The Huskies also beat Notre Dame this season.

On Tuesday, Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh reiterated that he had no scheduled meetings with Notre Dame. And Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz, also mentioned as a possible candidate, said he had not had any discussions with representatives for the Irish.
BL is going to serve up a gem of disdain on this one. I can feel it. :hyper:

I read that this evening....Randy Edsall has been the Huskies coach for quite a while now and I really don't think he would leave for Notre Dame, but it's probably the most prestigious job in college football and as much as I want to be mad if he does leave, I'm not sure how I would feel

Looks like Notre Dame is resorting to the old mantra of "If you can't beat em, throw tons of money at them and take their head coach away so he can have mediorce success with a highly overrated and below average football program only to fire him three to five years later", regarding their interest in Harbaugh and Edsall.

No. He really isn't.

I love Lane Kiffin.

Yes. He is.

anyone watching the awards show? my boy McCoy has got two so far. toby g beat out ingram and spiller for best running back. pretty interesting stuff.

Toby is going Pro. Once season hype wears off, he will be a third round pick.

Drew Butler won the Ray Guy award.

McCoy won Maxwell (Best Offensive Player), Walter Camp (Player of the Year) and O'Brien (Best QB).

Gerhart won Doak Walker (Best RB).

Golden Tate and Aaron Hernadez won Best WR and TE awards.

Suh dominated the Lombardi, Outland, Bednarik and Nagurski.

Eric Berry won the Jim Thorpe Award (Best DB) and Rolando McClain won Butkus (Best LB).

Kirby Smart won Best Coordinator while Brian Kelly was the Best Coach.

i guess ingram will just have to settle for the Heisman since he didn't any of the other awards he was a finalist for. seems weird.

Brian Kelly's decision makes me sick. I can understand 'following your dream', but...

completely...when I heard he got the job, I was like "ok, its been his dream and he'll finish up with Cincy in a bowl game and move on" and then I heard he was leaving the team immediately and I was like....

*****e. Bag.

My thoughts exactly, BL..when I saw he won't coach in the Sugar Bowl. Gotta make Cincy's guys feel good, right? Knowing they were apparently nothing more than a stepping stone for Kelly's "dream". :whatever:

Exactly. It's one thing to leave for another job after the bowl, but to abandon the team before the bowl... :cmad:

It was a pretty ****ty move; just hauling ass like that. The want for a higher profile gig with more resources/greater challenge/whatever is understandable, but showing up to the team awards banquet, saying 'It was real' and peacing out is *****etastic.

Have enough respect for your guys to finish out the season ...or give the administration the opportunity the chance to say 'no thanks' and fire your soon-to-be-shamrock-loving ass.

As if I needed another reason to root against Notre Dame. :awesome:

I feel for the Cincy players. It ripped my guts out as a Mountaineers fan to watch RichFraud go stand on the sidenline during Michigan's bowl game after abandoning WVU (If you ask me, he abandoned WVU in the Backyard Brawl as well). It's always sickening to watch a coach basically abandon their team right before the biggest game of their lives.

It's unfortunate that recruiting gets so heavy during these few weeks, since college's need their coach now and that coach potentially has a big bowl game on the horizon. Is it possible to postpone ANY recruiting/committments until after the bowl games?

One potential upside for Cincy though is to look at the same Mountaineers I mentioned earlier. Abandoned by RichFraud going into the Fiesta bowl, WVU stepped up and beat down the Sooners WITHOUT him, and it looks like the Cincy seniors are stepping up to be the leaders this team needs.

I expect that Cincy team to be madder than Rosie O'Donnell when she's out of Twinkies when they hit the field
