Cool to see Miroslav Satan finally get to hoist the Cup, after all his years.

Dear Detroit, you can keep Hossa. We don't want him back.

Another Staal brother gets his name on the Cup.

Crosby still lives in Mario's basement?
:facepalm

Well now its onto the entry draft, free agency, trades and training camp.

You can tell CBC loves Crosby they're still on the ice interviewing people. Usually 30 minutes after the Cup is awarded is what they'll do to wrap up.

Watched the whole game, was a great one. It always seems game 7 heroes are the role players, in 2004 it was Fedotenko, 2006 Frank Kaberle and this year Max Talbot. That last second save on Lidstrom was insane!

Hossa, stay away from Edmonton please. This playoffs show he is not an elite player.

I really like that Helm guy on Detroit, same with Kennedy and Talbot on the Penguins.

Good for the Pens. I don't normally watch hockey on tv, but I caught the 3rd period. Fun stuff.

Congrats to the Penguins. I'm glad to see them win it since Detroit won it last year.

Final point standings will be up soon.

All I can say is, it's a GREAT year to be a Pittsburgh fan.

Now maybe the Pirates will... ugh, nevermind.

The Cup is back in the Burgh!!!! :woot:

As awesome as it was to see Sid and the team lift the cup,I was extra happy for Mario. After all he did for the team and the city,he deserved this.

Agreed, Venom. Living in Pittsburgh has been great this year, but Mario lifting the Cup was the highest point for me.

As a life-long "Pixburgher," I love my Penguins. I do want to congratulate the Red Wings on a great season and series as well. To be the best, one must defeat the best.

Well maybe one day the owners of the Buc's will start spending some money on them and build a great team... no wait this is the Pirate owners we are talking about. They will sign them and then tarde them for player that are crap or over the hill.

Hey but two out of three championships in one year isn't bad. We are the city of champions again.

I just can't believe it still. As a Pens fan, I was waiting for the other shoe to drop throughout the game and it almost did when the puck got past Fleur to hit the crossbar.

The last period felt like the longest 20 minute period of a hockey game I've ever seen, counting down the minutes out loud.

Somehow the Pens held on. It looked like they were in good shape from the beginning. The Wings didn't look like they had control of the puck the way they had in last year's final at home or in game 5. Something was different in this game, the momentum for some reason had shifted away from the home team on their ice in their building.

It's freakin' awesome no matter how you slice it. Call it revenge to win the cup in Detroit's building. Maybe Hossa saw each Pens player hoist up the Cup, rubbing it in his face that they couldn't win.

I'm interested in what Hossa does next year. Does anyone know whether Detroit is interested in resigning him or if it looks like he's on the move again? Atlanta really seems to want him back...

EDIT: I'm assuming he'll be looking for a long-term contract after the situation last year.

He had a great regular season, but I highly doubt Detroit would spend the money to sign him again, esp. after his very disappointing playoff run. From what I've heard, the Red Wings fans are calling for his head.
I know the Pens wouldn't take him back.

No snub of Lidstrom, Pens officials say
Saturday, June 13, 2009
By Dave Molinari, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Penguins officials have defended Sidney Crosby, the team's captain, against a charge that he snubbed his Detroit counterpart, Nicklas Lidstrom, in the handshake line after the team won the Stanley Cup at Joe Louis Arena last night.

Red Wings center Kris Draper told the Associated Press that "Nick was waiting and waiting, and Crosby didn't come over to shake his hand" in the traditional handshake line. He added that, "that's ridiculous, especially as their captain, and make sure you write that I said that."

When Tom McMillan, the Penguins' vice president of communications, was informed of Draper's accusation, he said:

"There's nobody who respects the traditions of hockey more than Sidney Crosby. It was a young team celebrating its first Cup and some of the guys might have been a little late getting into the handshake line."

Crosby was photographed going through the handshake line and it is not known how long Lidstrom waited before adjourning to the locker room.

Members of losing teams generally vacate the ice pretty quickly.

I'm sure this wasn't really intentional, as Sid did go through the line with the rest of his team, but I'd like to hear him address this in the coming interviews.

Sid is a world class guy. I don't think it was intentional either.

I actually just watched a clip of Lidstrom leaving the ice. He left right in front of Hossa. I do believe I saw Hossa cross by Sid, so I'm not sure Lidstrom was really around when Sid was. This is the guy that was doing interview with network after network post-game.

Wow, I really hoped the Pens would win, and they actually did! That's why I chose to say Detroit would win in this poll...every time I root for a team, they beef it. Reverse psychology, see :D

I agree with Immortalfire, it was good to see Miro Satan finally get a chance to lift the cup. Personally, I always felt he played great with the Sabers, but I was glad to see him come to Pittsburgh....
