I agree Matt

2011, Browns, Ravens and Steelers will duke it out for the division. Browns can steal the wildcard away from the Patriots or Ravens

.......Yeah, about that.

They're turning things around in Cleavland, no doubt and they're looking damn good. If they can keep this momentum up into next season and make a few tweaks, they'll be contenders at the start of the season instead of midway but in no way, shape, or form does that indicate that the Browns are going to push us out of the playoff picture in the near future.

We're a perennial lead in the AFC North and consistent playoff contenders in the AFC as a whole. They're just arriving, let's give them some time to prove themselves before you leap headfirst on the bandwagon.

Matt takes a **** on everyone's teams. That's why he has no friends, he can comment on another team without being a total *****e about it.

Well, Matt is the most horrible person on this forum..as claimed by the legendary Bakerboy.

I'm happy that both Jets and Raiders won their respective games last weekend, although I was actually more impressed with Raiders' victory because Jets almost lost their game against a good (but not great) Lions team, and had to have a comeback to seal the win. Sanchez has yet another INT, and so far he hasn't really convinced me that he the QB that worth all those picks to trade up in the draft for. Colt McCoy impressed me more since he won against a great Pats team with really nothing on his team except maybe Hillis with the Browns. Anyway, I hope he will continue to improve, because by and large USC QBs aren't really impressive this season (Palmer, Sanchez, Leinart).

Btw, it's nice to see Raiders on top of AFC West. It is a really long time coming.

Half a game back. We're almost there.

Impressive win for Oakland considering they had to beat the Chiefs, the refs, and themselves all in one game to get over .500. The officials handed the Chiefs that fourth quarter touchdown by blowing the call on that scrum ala Steelers-Dolphins from a week ago.

there is not some vast ref conspiracy to keep the Raiders down....is that what Raiders fans tell themselves?

Matt's a Matt Moore fan and agrees with me on points about the Panthers.

No Injury Update on Matt Moore so far, he is suppose to have a MRI today. If Clausen has to go, I wanna see the following....

1. Wishbone Offense. At 1-7, why not. With three Injured RB's just have Steve Smith be a RB in the Wishbone and have Goodson who is a RB be the other.

2. Run the Mountaineer Package with Edwards. AKA Wildcat, which Carolina has run two times this year with Edwards.

3. Activate Edwards for entire season if Moore is even out 4 weeks. 1-7, Moore is a FA, might as well let Edwards get playing time with Clausen.

4. If Moore is out 4-6 weeks, and with 8 games left...I dunno if it's just wise to put him in IR or what.

yea....I saw that in someones sig, anyone know what that whole conversation was about?

Bakerboy was in love with Michelle Pfeiffer, Matt thought it kinda creepy. Bakerboy then proclaimed that Matt was stupid and the most horrible person on this board, and told him to go to the hell.

So, my thoughts on the season at the moment:

One - Will this week have silenced all the people ranting about how the Chiefs and Bucaneers are legit? They are results of easy schedules and I think that this week underlines that.

Two - I'm sure people will start talking about how the Raiders are legit, but they aren't either. They beat either inconsistent teams or bad ones. We will see how legit they are next week when they play the Steelers (I'm guessing they won't be very legit).

Three - In my opinion the most suprising team in the league who is actually legit are the Browns. Why? Because they are not simply having a good season based on a cake walk schedule. In fact, they aren't even having a good season. But what they are doing is showing CONSISTENT (and that's the key word) improvement of a young team, where it needs to be shown. Holmgren is actually laying the foundation for future success. I don't see that with the Raiders or Bucs. MAYBE the Chiefs. The Browns are the legit underdogs this season, IMO.

Four - So, after this embarrassing defeat will Jerry eat his words and fire Wade Phillips fired or will he stick to his promise to give him the full season?

I agree, the Browns are becoming a scary team for people to play. They don't quit, they always play hard, and now, the young talent is starting to shine. You don't beat the Saints and then Patriots in consecutive outings by chance. Maybe one of them, but not both. Especially the way they dominated both teams. I am very happy with the Browns this season. Sure, this is not a playoff season, but every week, they look better and better. For the first time in ages, this team is moving toward being relevant for more than 1 season.

I don't see the Browns making the playoffs this or next year. But, I think by 2012, this team might be serious. It's all about grooming a #1 WR, growing McCoy, and adding a few pieces on defense.

I doubt we're going to pull it off, but if they can snag a win against the Jets this week, WOW! What a trio of wins that would be.

So, out of boredom, I checked the Browns schedule for the rest of the season. And other than the Jets game, and the last two games (Ravens and Steelers). I think they could win the rest of 'em. I dunno though, those Bills might be a problem. Other than than, they have a good chance of making a run. It's unlikely they will, and they're probably gonna finish 7-9/8-8. But they're schedule is pretty easy from here on out, so they do have that going for them.

I am a Browns fan. I love the progress I am seeing, and I agree that the schedule is not overtly rough outside the Jets, Ravens, and Steelers. They can easily beat the other teams on their schedule if they play like this. But, even if they nab a win this week against the Jets...the Browns won't make a playoff run. Why? Look at the AFC. Even if the Browns went on a major run and AT BEST finished 10-6 (and that is VERY optimistic...prob not happening optimistic), look at the AFC: Raven and Steelers have 2 losses, Pats and Jets have 2 losses, Colts and Titans have 3 losses. Chiefs have 3 losses.

The Browns already have 5 losses. Even at 10-6, I don't see a WC birth here. I don't see any combo of 2 teams between all these 2 or 3 loss teams having 6 or more losses come season end that would allow a 6 loss Browns team to get in. The AFC is too good. Maybe in the NFC, it would be possible. But, not the AFC.

And I don't see the Browns reaching 10-6. I was just doing the math based on that assumption to show how far down they are already. It would take running the table, and even then, a miracle to make it. I personally think the Browns land in the 6-10 or 7-9 range. If they get anymore than 6 or 7 wins, then I will be REALLY happy. But, playoff talk for the Browns is insanity.

provided the Browns can afford to keep McCoy after his contract ends....which they can't if he continues to progress

Just heard it from John Fox on panthers.com press conference...:csad:

MATT MOORE PLACE ON IR, DONE FOR YEAR.

Fox will look at Clausen and Pike and go from there. Here comes 1-15...unless if the offense goes with wishbone and options and wildcat, cause Clausen just isn't good. Pike ain't ready.

Immortal, even the Dolphins have given up on the Wildcat. It was definitely a fad that eventually most teams have figured out.

Like the Lions, Jets can't expect to have an easy victory over a (presumed) weak team. Browns already proved by beating the Saints and Pats that while they may not be a great team yet, they are very dangerous and have the ability to defeat a very good team. It depends on whether Rex Ryan will allow his team to get complacent just because they saw that they are playing against Cleveland, and I do believe that if Browns didn't get that win over the Pats, Jets may very well have gotten too overconfident. It doesn't help that Ryan likes to tell his team how great they are, either.

Cowboys have called a press conference for 4:15.

Gee, wonder what that's about.

The offense coordinator has to try something different. This play calling has been predictable in the league for years now. Clausen, Pike, Edwards running this offense the way it's been called may very well end to a 1-15 season. Defenses are nto scared of this offense...running wildcat, wishbone, option offense, hurry up, no huddle, 2 min drill offense could work for Carolina.

I'm shocked Fox allowed a fake punt run play to be called..and it got a 1st down.

Hell, they should play Pike ahead of Clausen, he seemed less prone to mistakes and was overall pretty calm.

Sad situation when your Starter gets done for the year, it's even worse when said Starter was Matt Moore.

Goes to Cowboy levels of sad when you have to toss up between Clausen and Pike.

Browns beating the Saints didn't make the Patriots respect the Browns anymore. If the Jets make that mistake against the Browns that both the Saints and Pats did, it will be a rough game. The Browns now have a solid running game, so if they get ahead, they can actually keep leads now. This is something the Browns couldn't do before.

Cowboys vs Panthers...that game is going to be great

I was surprised that Wade was given an extension last year. I never thought the Cowboys could win with him at the helm but I'm beginning to think they can't win it with Jones being a GM.
