So, my thoughts on the season at the moment:

One - Will this week have silenced all the people ranting about how the Chiefs and Bucaneers are legit? They are results of easy schedules and I think that this week underlines that.

I still don't get how close losses by both teams illustrate that they're not going to be very good. They have plenty of potential and both still have a pretty good chance of making the playoffs this year.

Being able to have a schedule full of nothing but world-beaters would be nice, but a team in the NFL has no control over that sort of thing. A team's schedule is set by the NFL, and all but two games are set a year or two in advance.

Its not about the teams they lose to. Its about the teams that they beat.

I'm not saying they do, but it is an indicator of how good they really are in comparrison to their records (look at least season's Bengals).

The Raiders won thanks to a rather flukey reception at the end of the 4th
The Bucs lost thanks to a 4th down stop right at the endzone by the Falcons.

Both the Chiefs and Bucs could have easily won those games. They barely lost. If the Bucs would have been blown out I would agree, Matt. But they lost by less than a Touchdown for crying out loud! And the Chiefs lost in OT! Both teams are good. And played well today

So, out of boredom, I checked the Browns schedule for the rest of the season. And other than the Jets game, and the last two games (Ravens and Steelers). I think they could win the rest of 'em. I dunno though, those Bills might be a problem. Other than than, they have a good chance of making a run. It's unlikely they will, and they're probably gonna finish 7-9/8-8. But they're schedule is pretty easy from here on out, so they do have that going for them.

Tell that to the '09 Bengals.

How about the '05 Colts? Nobody doubted their schedule (remember they started 10-0 or something like that), and they still face-planted in the playoffs. Meanwhile the Steelers, who barely squeaked into the 6th seed ran the post-season table.

True, true. It all matters on who gets hot at the right time. The '07 Giants are living proof of this. Same with the Cardinals the next year. And the Jets the year after that.

Two - I'm sure people will start talking about how the Raiders are legit, but they aren't either. They beat either inconsistent teams or bad ones. We will see how legit they are next week when they play the Steelers (I'm guessing they won't be very legit).

Three - In my opinion the most suprising team in the league who is actually legit are the Browns. Why? Because they are not simply having a good season based on a cake walk schedule. In fact, they aren't even having a good season. But what they are doing is showing CONSISTENT (and that's the key word) improvement of a young team, where it needs to be shown. Holmgren is actually laying the foundation for future success. I don't see that with the Raiders or Bucs. MAYBE the Chiefs. The Browns are the legit underdogs this season, IMO.

Four - So, after this embarrassing defeat will Jerry eat his words and fire Wade Phillips fired or will he stick to his promise to give him the full season?
You know what Matt I am getting tired of you hating on my Raiders:cmad::cmad::cmad::argh:

They had a lot of help from the refs.

I remember a couple of years ago when the Cowboys cut TO and someone telling me this is where we will see how great of a team and I knew back then, they had issues and I'm not so much believing that the Cowboys have given up and thinking that they just were never that good to begin with.

That's what happens when you drink the Tony Romo Kool-Aid:o

So Guys, if the Falcons beat the Ravens on TNF this week, would that show that the Falcons are the best in the NFC?

What happens when they get beat by a team like the Fins ? Though the odds of that happening are none to zip :o
Who cares its like when NE got beat this weekend does that mean their not a legit team anymore? No it just means they got beat that day. Oakland is a good team people need to give them their proper respect. Their team may not have the talent of the Cowboys or Bengals or the Saints or Jets but they are still a good team who works with one another instead of against one another.

Packers play the Falcons, Giants, and Bears in the last half of the season, should be an interesting race for homefield after all is said and done.

Matt takes a **** on everyone's teams. That's why he has no friends, he can comment on another team without being a total *****e about it.

he's still mad about the (alleged) rapist still on the roster
