Uh, ParaNorman.

I bet you based off what type of business these movies did that the company wishes they never would have moved. Might have ended up being a hit.

Ironically September seems to have a plethora of pretty decent flicks coming out. Not like award caliber but stuff like Resident Evil, Hotel Transylvania, Dredd, etc. Popcorn flick stuff.

No offense but kids movies dont interest me at all and this certainly didnt look special.

It is as much a kids movie as the Avengers was, which is to say, not at all. It appeals to all ages. But of course, let us make blanket statements about animation again.

I all looking forward to Perks, Dredd and End of Watch. Too bad they all come out the same day.

Also kind of curious about Watson's B.O. pull post Harry Potter.

GI Joe 2 I think would've fallen into the same grouping as Journey 2, Battleship and Wrath of Titans, $300-325 million worldwide (same as the original). It would take a $50 million hit domestically compared to the original but would make that up internationally.

Ted benefited from it since they took Joe's release date, TASM maybe a bit because
there were less options for July long weekend.

Here's the re-worked Joe's competition:

March 1st
Elysium (Neill Blomkamp sci-fi w/Matt Damon)

March 8th
Oz: The Great and Powerful

March 15th
The Croods (Dreamworks Animation)
Captain Phillips (Tom Hanks drama)
Jack the Giant Killer

March 22nd
21 and Over (low budget comedy)
Carrie (2013)
Now You See Me (Jesse Eisenberg thriller)

March 29th Easter Weekend
G.I. Joe: Retaliation 3D
The Host (sci-fi/romance from Twilight author)
Tyler Perry's The Marriage Counselor

April 5th
Dead Man Down (Colin Farrell bomb)
The Heat (Sandra Bullock comedy)
Jurassic Park 3D

Okay, this has been bothering me a while, so I have to ask. . . why do you have Ted repeated in both the Success and Blockbuster list?

Ted was originally in Succes but moved up to Blockbuster. I just forgot/missed deleting it. With all that code it's a mess to look at. Thank you for pointing that out.

Thursday Update: Warner Bros. reports that The Dark Knight Rises added another $4.6 million to its haul in China on Tuesday, pushing its total to $9.1 million.
The 2nd day in China compares as follows:
- 135% ahead of Inception
- 92% ahead of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
- 6% ahead of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1
- On par with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 (which was in 3D)
The Dark Knight Rises currently has a worldwide total of $958.2 million.

Boxoffice.com projects that Summer 2012 will suffer a 2.9% decline from Summer 2011. Here are the numbers:
May 6 - September 5, 2011: $4,405,854,535
May 4 - September 3, 2012: $4,277,100,000 (projected)
(Note: We define Summer as the first full weekend in May until Labor Day)
Luckily, a strong first quarter in 2012 continues to have an impact, helping 2012 as a whole maintain a solid 3.6% lead over 2011

Awesome. For both.
What I found more impressive is The Avenger's domestic box office ($619,545,000 ). If Titanic hadn't been re-released, it would have been passed by Marvel.

Yeah, but 3D gave The Avengers a huge boost. Titanic reached +1.5 million without 3D. Had 3D been available back then, Titanic would still be king today.

batman fans happy that TDKR made 1 billion? why. will you get a sequel to TDKR?

Iono are you unhappy that it made $1 billion.

• TDKR was in 2D.
• TDKR endured a National Tragedy.
• TDKR was a great film and end to Nolan's trilogy.
