I don't know how big the market will be for a movie like Lincoln. It won't won't get my money, I'll leave my theater money for spectacle, not backroom politicking.
Yeah what is this notion that the only movies worth seeing in theaters have to have explosions in them?
Attitudes like this are why Michael Bay still gets work unfortunately. A good film can be "quiet".

It's doing fine but it's predicted to make $38m the weekend. I mentioned before but i did believe lincoln would be going after some of the same audience.
It's predicted to debut mid-20's i believe.

TDKR made 160m so the 150m prediction was not that far off. Twilight films are about as frontloaded as you can get, so much so that a lot of the demand is burnt out on the crazy opening Friday & the the relatively limp Saturday & Sunday prevents it from breaking opening weekend records.I'm surprised predictions for Twilight are so low
Granted i don't follow the BO news for twilight like other movies but i was just reading TOLDJA and saw that Twilight weekend prediction is around 150 million.
Surely something such as this should open much higher. Hell i was half expecting it to break TDRK opening weekend
Did anybody actually say this?
The war was not the point of the movie. The point of it was what Lincoln had to go through to get the amendment passed.
If you want to see a Civil War movie, watch Glory or something else. This movie is about Lincoln's life, his own personal struggles, and his part in the Civil War, not about the Civil War itself.
First, it was more of a glimpse into his life, what we saw was pretty much the life of the 13th amendmant. What the movie should have been was actually lincolns life and presidency in general and not merely the last year of his life. I feel like we never really got to know him besides a few scenes of him arguing with his wife and son. The rest was all his cabinet arguing about slaves being free or not. I would have much rather preferred to see a lincoln movie of his life from young teens to president.
It they dont want to show the battle and war itself then dont show shots at all or having a gruesome opening to make the audience expect that in the first 5 minutes.
Who are you to say what a movie should or should not be about? It could have been entirely about the last day of Lincolns life and that would have been fine for anybody should care.
It was spielbergs movie and he chose to focus it on what he wanted. Not every film has to be a big sweeping bio-pic when dealing with important events. Should the movie 13 days about the cuban missile crisis have started with JFK's birth?
The movie was about a very specific and very important moment in not just lincoln's history but american history. The passage of the 13th ammendment is why blacks aren't in chains in america anymore. If you don't find that interesting enough, it was obviously not the right movie for you to see.
