First off, Congrats to the St. Louis Blues on their first ever Stanley Cup Championship

Free agency started July 1st, at Noon EDT, and with it the official dawn of a new league season.....

Will anyone ever be able to listen to Laura Branigan again?

Can the Blues repeat?

Is John Tavares still a snake? (Narrator: He is.)

Will the Blue Jackets be able to field a roster after free agency?

Will the refs still suck?

Will the San Jose Sharks be teal enough?

Will a team from Canada ever win a Cup again? (Narrator: They Won't)

Will the Oilers make the playoffs? (Narrator: LOL)

The answers to these questions and more, coming soon!

Summary of yesterday's major free agent signings:

Sergei Bobrovsky (CBJ) to Florida

Matt Duchene (CBJ) to Nashville

Artemi Panarin (CBJ) to NY Rangers

Sebastian Aho (CAR) signs offersheet with Montreal

Anders Lee back to NY Islanders

Robin Lehner (NYI) to Chicago

Semyon Varlamov (COL) to NY Islanders

Leafs trade Kadri/Rosen to Colorado for Barrie/Kerfoot

Joe Pavelski (SJ) and Corey Perry (ANA) to Dallas

Cam Talbot (PHI) to Calgary

Mike Smith (CAL) to Edmonton

Anton Stralman (TB) and Tim Connolly (WAS) to Florida

Wayne Simmonds (NAS) to NJD

They'd a been crazy to let Aho go...

Dzingel signs with Carolina. 2 years. $6.75 million.

Err'body jumping ship from C-Bus...

Love this off season, no pressure. It’s relaxing.

Canes sign Jake Gardiner for 4 years for only $4.05 million per.

That;s quite a discount deal IMO

Marner signs for 6 years with the Leafs, just under $11 million per.

They will now have like 50% of their cap tied up in 4 players.

Good luck with that.

Season starts tomorrow, let's hear your wildest predictions....

Mine:

Stanley Cup Finals: Avalanche sweep the Leafs.

I can see the Avs winning a round or two, but not all the way

Looks like after 17 years, the SHH fantasy hockey league is dead.

Revising my Cup Finals prediction to Islanders vs Oilers

Gonna party like it's 1983! (not 1984 though)

My Caps have started off well. I hope that we can keep it up.

The Oilers will barely make the playoffs

I mean, its a quarter of the way into the season practically and they're still on pace for 112 points. Barring a big injury to McDavid or Dreisietl I don't think they'll regress all that much.

Re: their supporting cast
Everybody's gonna need career years to make any impact, but in their case, making the playoffs will be a success

Don Cherry was fired from Hockey Night in Canada.

About. Damn. Time.

yeah that was about 2-3 years overdue. My guess is that they'll bring in Brian Burke to replace him. He's got the old guy hockey curmudgeon thing going but isn't a xenophobic bigot.

Yeah, Don's been off the rails for a long time, and he tainted 11.11 with his own ego. This was a step too far and it was a no-brainer move to let him go. It's a pity, because I often found him entertaining.

And to defend himself he went on...Tucker Carlson's show.

If anyone had any doubt that he's a right winged racist, talking to Tucker should eliminate that.

I'm gonna miss the flashy suits... :csad:

That stated, I'm going to do two minutes on Don this Monday at a bar in Richmond Hill, we'll see how it goes.

McDavid is ****ing dynamite.
