Oh, I'm sure the negative people will chime in here over the next couple days to make it sound like more people hated it than liked it.

I think it's great that the box office sounds like it slapped Ghost Riders record into the dirt. 30 million in one day?

It didn't slap Ghost Rider's record. It made more than Ghost Rider though Ghost Rider only set Presidents Day Weekend records. They opened a month apart not competing for same record and Ice Age 2 made more than 300 per early estimates so 300 is in 2nd place still. Maybe 300 will surprise and made 70 million. :)

This HUGE BO taking is 99% confirmation of the Watchmen movie being made. WB's back in the money! Let 2007 roll!

For an R Rated hardcore movie with little fanbase and no stars it is an astonishing opening,so a kids movie sequel making more is not really a big deal,it's amazing 300 is s close.and didn't GR destroy DD's take by your calling even though it only just beat it ?:cwink:

Congrats to Zack, you deserve it! I am looking forward to Watchmen

Show me where I said "Ghost Rider" destroyed Daredevil? Ghost Rider though did made more in 3 days than Daredevil made in 4. It's ahead of it by 15% which is pretty good considering the competition. Adjusting for inflation makes things almost dead even. Also I have nothing but good things to say about 300 doing so well. It's good for the genre but more importantly it's good for other studios to note that R rated films can still make money. Fox screwed up Aliens vs Predator and the Riddick movie was over sanitized, etc...300 should be Rated R as should have the 2 movies I just mentioned but I think Ghost Rider needed to be PG-13...that's another argument. Ghost Rider could have been alot better but it was fun. Back to the point though yes it's amazing that 300 did so well. When I saw the lines Thur night I realized it'd make 60 million for sure. Lastly, Ice Age 2's box office was very impressive as well. It surprised many considering the first film was nothing near the level of Shrek as far as quality or any of the Pixar films.

The fact that it is doing so well is great news!! 300 kicked @$$, now bring on the Watchmen!!! :yay:

Numbers like this just make me want to stop predicting the boxoffice. I didn't see this movie's numbers coming and am fairly shocked and amazed. It is a huge hit. It's strange why could WB market an hard R Rated movie to amazing numbers but can't seem to do that with the most popular charcter in the world?

WB needed this good news because last year was a bust.

It kicked Batman Begins and Superman Returns' box office ass, hilarious, DC's most glorified and popular characters are kids play to these numbers. :D

Awesome!!! I'm done being pessimistic LOL. I don't buy that frontloaded thing. If it made 27.7 mil on fri when 18+ are working or at school most of the day. Then it could make 32 mil more on Sat. And another 25 mil on Sunday. Its gonna beat Ice Age 2. And might even beat Passion of the Christ too. If people come back the next day when its sold out instead of wasting their money to see something else. Plus fan's seeing multiple viewings. Then maybe just maybe it could match The Matrix Reloaded too. If not I don't think WB will mind LOL.

Awesome! Hey DC/WB let Miller bring his own Dark Knight to the big screen in this style.:woot:

25 million on Sunday would be shocking to say the least considering the Fri rush on Midnight showings. I'd say more like 17-19 million on Sunday.

Batman had to deal with an awfully "bad taste" from the prior sequels. I think the Dark Knight will be back on track for DC. Superman was a great film but it just seemed like I was watching a newer version of the 70's film and not much else. I think those franchises are going in opposite directions. Superman will always have an audience but Batman Begins was so great in almost everyway.

As a hardcore Batman fan.... I agree, this is ****ing hilarious.

Remember marketers, Swords + NIN = Gold. :oldrazz:

You can count me in as well. Maybe they will make a rated R DKR film one day.

It's pretty funny that Superman Returns was so damn politically correct it didn't have the balls to say "Truth, Justice and the American Way". Meanwhile this movie gratuitously breaks every political incorrectness convention in the rulebook like its nobody's business. :D:up:

Its great news for all C.B. film fans because it shows the public still craves the genre. I just hope W.B. will get off their duffs now and make more (hint hint) Flash, G.L., M.M. etc etc.

^ It's great news for R Rated action movies and R rated movie's in general. The numbers for GhostRider and now 300 show just have much WB screwed up Superman. They could have had a huge hit if they had actually made a real Superman movie. A mopey Superman movie with bland characters and very little action doesn't work WB! Maybe they will change their minds and fire Singer and the Urban Legends: Bloody Mary writers. Get rid of that whole damn "creative" team, including all of the actors, and bring in somebody who will make a fun but serious Superman movie with a woman as Lois Lane and a guy with Bulk as Superman. Alas that won't happen, we are stuck with a lame ass drama director who wouldn't know how to direct action if Steven Speilberg crawled up his ass and puppeteered him.

That all being said I still think that 300 is going to have a terrible weekend multiplier and an average overall multiplier.

Well...this confirms that Frank Miller is a genius!

Sin City, now this...wow...$27 is a REALLY REALLY High number...REALLY damn high. This movie really delivers a nice blueprint for Marvel to follow in it's films...deliver stories with heart and soul, and wrap it around great action, and people will come. Fox REALLY needs to take a note from 300...

$27 million...just freaking awesome!

Did you ever read his script? Its known as the worst comic book movie script ever.
