Tell that to Conner Kent.
Who? That character they offed recently? Or am I thinking of somebody else from the comics that's meaningless now?

Jor-El and Zor-El are brothers though.
What's your point? You're not thinking OUTSIDE the box.

The show is called SMALLVILLE. They're not slaves to comic canon, much to the chagrin of a lot of fanboys. In SV...

  • Kara was the name of a human girl who was killed in an automobile accident.
  • Dr. Hamilton was a scientist killed by Kryptonite poisoning.
  • Morgan Edge was a crime boss shot to death by Lex Luthor.
  • Perry White is a former alcoholic.
  • Lucy Lane is a spoiled grifter currently on the lam in Europe.
  • And Jor-El is a deceased Kryptonian who visited Earth in 1961. He also had a son that survived a pretty big explosion....
Anyhoo, I'll reiterate, this is Smallville. Think outside the box.

Not that I'm aware of.
What about the daughter of a stepmother's sister, or something like that? Wouldn't that person still be considered your "cousin?"

Hee! Don't get me wrong peeps, I prefer the story where Clark is the ONLY survivor of his birth world. It's more bittersweet that way. But this little plot twist could add quite a bit to the bigger picture. And best yet, it DIRECTLY relates back to CLARK. Anything that involves him "intimately" (you know what I mean) is fine by me. I hate some of the wide tangents they've taken in the past that had NOTHING to do with Clark.

Ok I'm going change this subject before I fall into a Coma .

Did anyone notice that for the first time in "smallville" series . The name "The House Of EL" was introduced at the same time as The Superman emblem .

And that the control panel in The Phantom zone Jor-EL placed incase anyone of his family members were traped that the panel had the superman emblem ingraved into the stone and when Clark first place the hand on the control panel the \s/ symbol was blue but just he was being teleported out the phantom zone the blood on his hand went on the stone and for a split second you saw the red \S/ symbol .

Are you being serious????

...you must also realize that Supergirl may not even exist in the SV universe also.
I never said she did. I'm just saying folks should keep an open mind. All too often I see "that will NEVER happen." Or "that's impossible." Or "they're not allowed to do that," yada yada. Meh.

Never. Say. Never.

Until it is shown on screen, we wont have proof of her existence. Sadly, this means theres no evidence of Batman or Wonder Woman existing either.
We don't need "proof" of the present or future existence of a fictional character showing up in SV, especially if it's in name only. That's why I used "Kara" from Covenant as one of my examples.

You're the expert on the show...
I'm flattered. Hey, speaking of names, "Lionel Luthor" isn't the first user name you've used on the Hype, is it? Just curious'.

but even I think you know deep down she won't be.
Mmmmm... I have no CLUE what they're planning. I know at one time, DeKnight had adamantly said on his own blog that SV couldn't have Jimmy Olsen. And then two weeks later, poof, that changed on a dime. I don't recall seeing a statement that SV couldn't use Supergirl. Would they *call* her Supergirl though? I seriously doubt it. At least not until a character named "Superman" shows up, and that might never happen.

...or it might happen during February sweeps. Who the puck knows? ;)

Do I *want* "Raya" to be SV's version of Supergirl. Hmm... well, what I want is irrelevant. But if Raya does indeed show up on Earth like Gough says, guess what? She's Kryptonian. She's young. She's blonde. And she would have the same powers as Clark. Sounds like a super girl to me. *shrugs*

I think they have some twist lined up for her when she arrives. It makes no sense for Clark to have a Kryptonian sidekick during these development stages of his life.
Who says she'd be his sidekick? That's Chloe's job.

I kid! :p

Seriously though, think characterization, not character. Everybody is so quick to pigeon hole a character by virtue of their name. I rather look at it from the POV of how they're portrayed. How do they act? What do they do that sets them apart from other interpretations? In short, what makes them special to us?

Question: The ending of the Smallville premiere suggested something sinister in Lionel Luthor's character this year. Any scoop regarding that?— Seelye

Ausiello: Obviously Lionel is lying about his connection to Kal-El's space kin being broken. The question remains, though: Is he linked to Jor-El or Zod? Discuss amongst yourselves.

I was afraid of this happening DAMN you smallville, you couldn't keep a good thing going could you ? [I liked Lionel as The Good guy, now it seems he'll be once again the bad guy .]

He was a beloved and well developed character killed for shock value in Infinite Crisis.

I agree with your love for the character, but I think he was killed more as a way to avoid all of that messiness with the "Superboy" name.

Arrrrrgggggh. Could be interesting, but I was really enjoying Lionel being (mostly) on the side of good. Maybe it won't be so black and white, but....I hope he doesn't go SO bad.

It had to happen eventually. The writers aren't too keen on shaking up the status quo for very long if at all.

I hope it's not as black and white as it seems either.

Now I've heard this a couple of different places...is that REALLY the Eradicator's symbol that Lionel was drawing at the end? Since when has Eradicator had a symbol?

I was surprised to see, on some other boards not this one, that people were having a problem with what Zod was trying to do with the satellite. He explained he was just using the satellite for its signal, and that the device he pulled from the ship is what had the capability to change the Earth. I wonder if they means they have a problem with a crystal forming the FOS too?

I'm not sure. It looked like the symbol was in one of the other rows of letters.

Can anyone get a screen grab of that?

Kickass. Zod was a great episode. The special effects were most outstanding, especially the Clark/Zod fight. The entire fight sequence left me at a loss for words afterwards and they nailed it. :wow:

The cast did splendidly with what they had. KK really stepped up to the role. I was starting to get used to the good Lionel and honestly, I prefer him that way. It would be a shame to see him revert back to his old ways, but that cliffhanger could mean anything. I'm clinging on a thread of hope here. :csad: AS was great as Jimmy. I could barely tell him apart from his twin brother, Shawn, thanks to his dorky personality. I agree with Hulk when he said in his review that MR played Zod a little "cool." I expected better, but that doesn't mean I'm not unhappy with the outcome. I was underwhelmed in most parts, but I did like it when Zod flew into Clark and out of the window, and when Zod impaled Lana's hand into a wall, especially the latter. Boy, did that look agonizing. Both gave believable performances. Before I forget, I MUST mention the brilliance of Zod face-pounding Clark. Seriously. That was simply beyond anything of awesome. :wow: :wow:

A great start to what seems to be a promising season. KNEEL BEFORE ZOD!!!! :cwink:

Lionel is a great character for keeping the other characters on their toes. At least the writers keep him interesting. :D

And holy postage machine, Batman LOL.

Dude! That's IN-SANE! HAHAHAHAHA!!! Wow!

I couldn't agree more. I like what he's bringing to the table rather than hellbent on destroying everyone's lives. He just feels more three-dimensional and I sort of view him as a reminiscent of JK. I hope the writers aren't going to turn him back to the old Lionel just for the sake of "Haha, I now know your secret. I was merely playing along and you naive Kents fell for it hook, line and sinker. Blackmailing is imminent." or something. :csad: Although, I can't say that I entirely think that they might go and do said theory. His apparent attraction to Martha seems truthful enough and I doubt he would want to do anything to hurt her. But in Lionel's case, you can never know. Sure, he might have lied at the end of Zod, but I'm willing to not rush into presumptuous conclusions and believe that he has good reasons for doing so.

the 'Boom thinks the Hulk should post more, he is sorely missed.

As you can clearly see this is not Zod

I think we figured out that Zod got sucked into the medallion or transported back to the PZ by the medallion

I Think My theory of this creature is the same as the one described in The CW Official Description for "Wither". Maybe right on the money

Meanwhile, Clark (Tom Welling) and Chloe (Allison Mack) pursue a creature who uses male human bodies as potting mix to procreate, and the hunt intensifies after the creature gets hold of Jimmy Olsen

Its probably just a little hint that things actually escaped with Clark when he got back. I dont think the creature is anything specific.

mayeb that's why the lubberjack growls at Clark when tries to dance with the park ranger. Becase he's been taken over by the dementor.
