In doors yea but not to the public.

There were a couple temper tantrums over in the Spidey section if you'd like to see. Although I wouldn't recommend it. Just a couple of people demanding footage and planning to write angry letters to Sony (I'm not kidding someone actually wrote that. -_- ).

Yep, because I was actually serious when I said I was going to write an email to Sony Pictures about a lack of info when the trailer is being released in less than 2 weeks.

"I KNOW YOU'RE RELEASING THE TRAILER IN LESS THAN 2 WEEKS BUT I WANT IT NOW!"

New Spidey trailer in 2 weeks also??

Win month.

Yep it's expected to be out with either Tintin or The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Maybe online before then as well!

Why would they release the trailer with a film that has a hard R rating?

Maybe that's why it is coming online first. Eh, to 'release' is just to premiere... I presume it gets attatched to other films later.

I dunno, you figure some of those Spidey fans who saw SM3 4 years ago would probably be at least 17 now, and might not be aware that a new one is coming out. I don't think it's a terrible idea (probably wont happen though).

What about the fans under the age of 17 who aren't aware that it is coming?

Spider-Man has fans in all age demographics. It makes no sense to put the trailer with a film catered to a specific group.

Sherlock Holmes or Tintin would be better options.

I agree, I was just thinking that maybe that demographic could benefit from it as well. I would put it in front of everything. It's seemingly a "darker" spidey so maybe it could benefit from running in front of TGWTDT.

Whenever Spidey stories try to go dark, whether in comics, TV, or film, they fail. People need to stop trying to reinvent the wheel with Spidey when the wheel works just fine.

I doubt it, man. This ain't your typical Rated R film.

'Girl' has (spoiler) rape scenes and strong sexual and violent elements. if it follows the book that is, this is very adult material.

Some people are speculating that it will come out with both Tintin and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and it'd be a genius move, all things considered.

I totally agree. The main reason why Nolan's vision of Batman has worked so well is because Nolan has stayed true to the essence and tone of the character. Why do filmmakers want to abandon the essence and tone of Spiderman? Spiderman is lighter fair, and should be treated with the same respect Nolan has treated the Batman mythos with. Stay true to the characters and who they are and the stories will be great. Making Spiderman dark is like doing what Schumacher did with Batman. Spiderman is not meant to be dark and brooding and disturbed like Batman; that is just not the essence of who the character is.

I think the only reason people think it will be attached with dragon tattoo is because it's the only real high profile sony film out this month.

But yeah thinking about it that would be a bad move all over, dragon tattoo is way to dark and hardcore for the main spidey demographic.

I haven't followed the movie much, but could you tell me if people think the reboot of Spider-Man is going to be good? I personally never got into Raimi's version. Much the way it was hard for me to get into the Burton / Shumacher Batman series. Raimi's Spider-Man series was very whiny, lacked the spiteful humor, and McGuire and Dunst annoyed me. And the repedtiveness of their relationship issues in each movie.

I get that Spider-Man doesn't need to be dark, like say Batman... but whenever they go with a dark storyline it's automatically bad? Huh?

You don't need to have an equally violent or sexually charged trailer in front of a film with those qualities. Just another film that has relatable mature themes and situations. From the teaser I saw it looks like a much more serious Spider-man than Raimi's franchise. I don't think it would be that outrageous to put the new trailer in front of a serious film, it would help differentiate this franchise from the last. Unorthodox, maybe.

Also, Lisbeth has been equated to a "superhero" status of her own in the fan community so it might be beneficial in that regard as well. And I can't be the only one who thought some of the shots in the teaser looked like they were out of a Fincher movie..

Spiderman wont be dark at all, it just has more mature story

I have high hopes for it, I think creatively and stylistically it's going to a better place than Raimi's films, not to say his first two films weren't great, but they are starting to show their age now.

Some of spider-Man's best storylines are dark.

I'd say his uncle getting murdered by a thief he let go is pretty dark. His best friend's dad killing his girlfriend is pretty dark. The entire symbiote saga is pretty dark. Those 3 alone are some of the most famous Spider-Man arcs ever, are extremely dark and are entirely awesome.

Not to mention that this film is not dark in any sense of the word. Read the SDCC descriptions and you'll see.

And yes, this film is shaping up to be really, really awesome. At least in my opinion.

I don't know, I think Kraven's Last Hunt was pretty dark.
