So the majority...no wait EVERY single publication is buzzing about the prologue, saying it's amazing, and a real spectacle. Only a handful are complaining about Bane's voice...and people are starting to lose faith in this film?

:whatever: Yeah...anyway.
Point out one person who said that.

Is that suppose be a reference to some comical moment? Possibly this movie's "oh that's not good" guy from TDK.
It's what one of the articles described about the prologue.

Nolan wouldn't put it out if it wasn't completely done with. He didn't tamper with the TDK prologue and he won't tamper with this; it is done. This nonsense about sound is ludicrous. These deaf and dumb people complaining about the sound are clearly morons. There were a lot of people who were saying the same thing about Inception; "We can't hear... What is Watanabe saying, etc?" These people are idiots. And deaf.

No there were some definite issues with the sound mixing on Inception which is why I'm really surprised it won for that.

I don't pick up on sarcasm. In a poor video recording where the phone or whatever is not meant to handle such loud sound, you don't hear the subtleties of someone speaking over a loud speaker. The rise and fall and emphases in his speech are not english. They are from farther east.

I don't believe the youtube recording's sound quality was so bad that it missed the subtleties of an accent. It wasn't a garbled mess, it was quite clear.

Besides, I could just as easily argue that the loudspeaker itself may have distorted the sound, so that those who heard it in person (through the loudspeaker) wouldn't know what it actually was supposed to sound like.

This makes sense considering Bane's apparently european convicts backstory.

There's no direct evidence that that is his backstory.

Exactly. We get some great news about Bane carrying a shattered half of Batman's mask and people are focusing on the voice/accent?

I just don't get it.

I'll say here that I can understand worrying about whether or not we'll be able to understand what Bane says, but what I don't get is the complaining about the accent...

If Hardy's acting is top-notch, the story is as epic as pretty much the entire crew of TDKR has stated, and the filming is beautiful, then I don't care if Bane sounds like he's breathing Helium through that mask.

(ETA: chipmunk Bane. As soon as the first trailer is out with his finished voice, I DEMAND That someone do this!)

But honestly, I seem to go in the opposite direction of people on this board for the most part:
-I never had a problem with Bale's Batman voice.
-I was neutral about the TDK Batsuit, but after rewatching TDK this morning, I realize that I frickin' love that Batsuit.
-With the exception of those heels (they really do look stupid, which is why I'm praying that they have some sort of practical functionality and aren't just there), I love the Catsuit.

So maybe I'm just the odd guy out or something...

So far it sounds like he's going to sound the same as he did in that instrument of liberation speech. If so then that's going to suck.

Why? I thought he sounded like a guy who's suffering so badly that he needs a constant supply of anesthesia to numb pain... isn't that the point of the mask in the first place?

I mean, if he's suffering from that severe of an injury, the last thing I'd expect is for him to sound like Kevin Grevioux. Yes, Bane should sound intimidating, but if he needs a never-ending supply of anesthesia to dull pain, then he's obviously not well, is he?

Besides... in reality, inhaling that much gas that often is going to take a toll on your vocal chords. You're not going to have some deep, booming voice that sounds like it's from the pits of hell.

I'm not complaining about his accent.

I'm concerned by the multiple reports that he is difficult to understand. That's kinda important to me. Sorry if I'm raining on your parades .

Now this I get. That worries me, too. I hope he's much easier to understand than what some of the reports are saying. I want to be able to hear his lines clearly, after all...

Naturally people focus on the ridiculous and not the legit problems to worry about with the voice.

I'm starting to think that's human nature.

 Take it easy. You too are whining... about other people. They have the right to voice their opinions. Even if they're a bit premature.

Yes. They do. But as one Hype! member's astute signature notes, opinions can be wrong.

Wait..so according to the description the movie starts at the end of TDK and sinceNolan said most of it "takes place 8 years later", I guess Nolan is going to flash forward during the movie...which leads me to wildly speculate the reason for the jump is so Bruce's back has time to heal! (not to mention the pic/vid of Bale with the cane)

And suddenly, the idea of Batman needing time to recover from a broken back received in the prologue makes sense again...

Although, judging by the so-far pathetically unspoilered descriptions I've read, we're obviously not getting that.

But am I the only one who remembers Gordon saying to Bruce(?) "we were in this together, and then you were gone." in the teaser trailer? Why the hell would Gordon say that if there wasn't a period of time where Batman was... as he says... "gone"?

Let's not forget the confirmation we received that Bane is injured and is relying on some form of anesthetic gas for life. Since we have conflicting reports on Bane's voice at two DIFFERENT points in the story, one can make the assumption that Bane's health is deteriorating (because of some plot point?) and therefore sounds more wheezy during the sequence at Heinz Field. My work here is done. Oh and let's not jump to conclusions before we actually here the voice people.

Exactly. Thank you.

I am suspecting that in some sequences, the difficulty in grasping his words will be purposeful. Otherwise, I don't believe it's going to be as much of an issue as it seems from tonight's reactions.

So like General Grievous? I can dig that

wow... its getting chippy in here already! that certainly didn't take long!

It's all opinion and taste. Some people like clean, spoon fed, 100% standard fair. Others can understand what NOlan is going for: grittiness. Not only in story, but in aesthetics and sound as well.

You're definitely a man with credibility. That I can tell you. Stay classy. :cwink:

If it's any consolation, the descriptions are orgasmic.

Happy :awesome:?

It's an accent. Deal with it.

Whoah ho ho! Now there's a productive comment!

When someone makes a legitimate criticism of a film's weakness, you should just say "It is what it is. Deal with it." And suddenly, that criticism is no longer valid!

Lesson learned!

:whatever:

For anyone who wants to watch an awesome movie with characters who can't be understood 100% of time, check out most of Robert Altman's movies.....
All the characters talk over each other, and half the time you can't understand a word... but darnit, it works.

The logo is the cracked design, which is on the official site. No purple, blue or blurple.

Are they going to confirm if the new Bat Symbol is blue or purple?

Are you joking? Because along with the crumbled building poster we also have the batsymbol cracked out of concrete already.

Like i always say and will say, THEY ARE CRITICS!!! They are not fans, they complain, the moan, they bit#$ about what they dont like all the time.

Who cares about his voice. I honestly could watch any of these Batman films from Nolan with it on mute and still be entranced.

Now the half Batmans mask is very intriguing!!!

Let me ask you then. How else are we suppose to know what Bane is saying if its so unintelligible that its feels authentic.

Also you certainly are high on that horse.

I'm heading to bed in a few. If I wake up to an email with a few more details, I'll be sure to share it in the morning!

If the source of the sound was distorted, then the video would be further distorted due to compression.

No, no confirmation on ANY of this really. Just descriptions and people fretting about really unspecific descriptions. According to the descriptions, though, Bane is in some country with a Russian physicist. So.... whatever. I'm out.
