In numerous interviews, Nolan says he likes the cold, messy fashion of making films and he compares them to documentaries, referring to the style in which he makes films.

First of all, Nolan wasn't saying he was making documentaries. So, not being a documentary, when the basic comprehensibility of your characters' dialog is severely impacted, you have a flaw - it's not a "style" or "flourish."

It's not enjoyable to scratch your head and ask yourself "What was it that guy said?" while the characters continue to talk and the movie moves forward.

You need to learn not to take everything Nolan says literally and, while you're at it, drop the fanboy, apologist attitude. He's not perfect, his films aren't perfect, and there are legitimate problems with them that can be improved upon, as there are with any directors' films.

Re-read the interviews, do your homework and get back to me.

Well, when you get off your self-righteous, ignorant high horse, and learn not to be a colossal *****e to people, you can feel free to get back to all the rest of us.

;)

Wow, thought you would have made the connection. The academy doesn't give best picture awards to box office successes like Inception. They give them awards like these, essentially to shut people up.
Titanic and LOTR were robbed at the Oscars!

Nolan introduced in a half-full theater, saying the IMAX film format, invented roughly the time he was born, was as of yet unmatched.

Can we instead of being anal about his voice (make a thread about that someone, like the bat-suit thread that went so well) talk about whats going on in the scene itself?

Sounds to me like Bane is the one being transported with chains, and is being freed by others.

Except Inception won both sound awards but not best picture...so your argument makes no sense.

He means the film that wins Sound Editing DOES NOT win Best Picture but is the film that the Mass Audience FEELS SHOULD win Best Picture.

So his argument makes sense.

Just so I've got this clear.

There are actually people here not only defending, but advocating the idea that Bane's dialogue should be completely unintelligible for the sake of realism. There are also people suggesting that Bane's dialogue being incomprehensible is not a big deal.

Why bother giving him dialogue at all then? What's the point in the character speaking if people can barely make out a word he says?

Just mind boggling.

It seems its only one person.

I don't recall reading anything about chains...? I think Bane and his men interrupted the transport of Pavel from the Militia to the CIA.

No 3D sequence I have ever seen has come close to that kind of scalable depth; and let's not even start in on clarity and brightness

Put simply, invest the energy to see TDKR in an IMAX theater projecting a film print. You will be amazed

As he's right.

So true, might as well give him some monkey noises and get it over with. Maybe this is Nolan's way at giving some homage to Schumacher. :oldrazz:

Well hopefully that was not to me, because I don't agree with that at all. It will be interesting to see it though and see what the issue is with it.

I'm sure the dialogue will be understandable, I just don't see them making a film where its not. Maybe bad sound? I dunno, too bad I don't have an IMAX to go to. But maybe online I will get treated to this.

It's all ok, Boom, because there was a shot of Bane holding a broken Batman mask. That makes everything ok :oldrazz:

Fenster from the Usual Suspects, you cant understand anything he's saying yet he steals the entire show

The IMDb (yeah, I know, should be taken with a large bottle of salt hehe) description told of a scene where Bane and his crew walked out of a hangar, and then cut to a scene where Bane threw some chains up in the air. I took that Bane is already in the plane during the hijack, probably being the one transferred.

I honestly think it does lol. That shot sounds amazing and gives me chills.

Why? I thought he sounded like a guy who is suffering so badly that he needs a constant supply of anesthesia to numb pain... isn't that the point of the mask in the first place?

I mean, if he's suffering from that severe of an injury, the last thing I'd expect is for him to sound like Kevin Grevioux. Yes, Bane should sound intimidating, but if he needs a constantly supply of anesthesia to dull pain, then he's obviously not well, is he?

Besides... in reality, inhaling that much gas that often is going to take a toll on your vocal chords. You're not going to have some deep, booming voice that sounds like it's from the pits of hell.

I disagree. This isn't real life. It's fiction. Fake. Not real. Acting. Make believe. And whatever else you want to add to that list. It's important to get things right but in a way that's not going to be on the level of somebody scratching a nail against a chalk board. Plus I heard people with breathing issues in the past and they didn't sound as bad as Bane did in the "instrument of liberation" speech.

Yes. They do. But as one Hype! member's astute signature notes, opinions can be wrong.

If that's the case then their opinion, as well as yours, are wrong. See what I did there? Maybe we should just go back to the "opinions are neither right are wrong" mentality.
