61 Nights of Halloween (2024 Edition)

Nobody did low budget schlocky fun like Roger Corman did back in the day. I don't think I've watched this movie in like 15 years, but I do remember loving it quite a bit as a kid. Is this a good movie no but I'd still take campy, fun flicks like this over any of the Syfy channel/Asylum crap that we get nowadays.

The effects are low budget but that's apart of the charm IMO and I still think this has some of the best gore and most memorable kills out of all the movies in the franchise. If you want R-rated dino carnage you get plenty of it here but if you're expecting great acting or a complex story than sadly this won't be for you. Also, kudos to the people who did the really solid puppetry effects for the Deinonychus.

All these years later and that thing still creeps me the hell out lol.

It's basically an Aliens ripoff but its probably one of the best Aliens ripoffs out there at least to my best knowledge. They ramp up the gore and the dinos here which was smart, and I really liked the cast here as well. Rick Dean brings so much personality and humor to this and I love his back and forth with Miguel A. Nunez Jr. As a kid this was my favorite film in the franchise and thankfully more than 20 years later that still hasn't changed.

My least favorite film in the franchise but still worth a watch if you enjoy the first two movies. Scott Valentine does a good job here playing a fun badass lead and the cast is very likeable overall. They obviously didn't have as much of a budget as the first two movies but the dino effects and practical gory kills are still pretty entertaining to watch and its a much better ending for this franchise than Raptor ever was.

Bite-Sized Review: It's not Psycho Goreman. Nothing will be. But it's another great throwback, that understands it's not all about the licensed music you can get.

I remember I wanted to see Pan's Labyrinth when the family went to Blockbuster and they all said no because it was in Spanish and subtitles.

Yesterday I watched -

DOG SOLDIERS (2002) starring Sean Pertwee, Kevin McKidd, Liam Cunningham, and Darin Morfin. A small group of British soldiers on maneuvers in Scotland run into a pack of werewolves.

THE WOLFMAN (2010) starring Benecio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Hugo Weaving, and Emily Blunt. In late 1800's England, Lawrence Talbot is bitten by a werewolf. This causes all kinds of trouble for him, his family, and everyone in the small village his family is from to the general populace of London.

DOOM: ANNIHILATION (2019) starring Amy Manson, Dominic Mafham, and James Weber Brown. Scientist on Mars discover an artifact that lets demon like creatures enter our dimension. A small group of soldiers try to stop them.

Save a spot for Cowboys fans. :(
Blame your parents for forcing mediocrity upon you. :o

So I will be watching Time Cut this week to see if there's the predictable ending or a surprise ending. Trailer is here:

I said earlier that the predictable ending would be (although I added a little bit):

The trio stops the killer, and the main girl goes back to her time. She wakes in bed to the sound of a little girl telling her to wake up, and that little girl is her niece and her sister is alive and well, but in her late 30's with a daughter of her own and possibly married to the older version of the male from 2003. I sense the age gap is due to fact that they are half sisters, but they are really close. The sister goes back to the high school to honor her friends who were killed.

But I said that the surprise ending is that

the killer is successful in killing the sister and the main girl. In the present, the main girl is listed as missing and disappeared without a trace, never to be seen again

Giants fan here, can I join you?

THE BRAIN (1988) A somewhat entertaining cheese-fest. Sadly, David Gale didn't get to be as evil as he was in Re-animator, but I enjoyed seeing him.

See that should have been what The Langoliers looked like.

I watched MaXXXine tonight. I appreciated the corniness of it all, it captured that 80's thriller feel but it was my least favorite of the three. Pearl was definitely the standout of the trilogy IMO.

Still got a few more spooky season movies left to go before Halloween. Kinda don't want it to end this year. :csad:
