7.09 - Gemini - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Hmmmm..... something the TWOP would like?

How about after Clark saves Jimmy and Chloe from the elevator, Clark and Chloe shares a kiss, with Clark saying, "Chloe I have feelings for you." At the end of the episode, you see Clark visit Bizarro in some prison that looks like a fortress only to reveal that Jor-el switched Clark and Bizarro and Bizarro is running wild with Clark locked up away for his punishment....

I would laugh hysterically if that happened.

Why? He didn't say what the twist was, it may not be what you think at all.
See? That's what I was thinking.

I don't get the complete hatred some people have for the groupthink found on other boards - yes, even TWOP. The prevailing Lana-hate may irk the Sweeters, and the Chloe-will-become-Lois forecasting gets olds, but there ARE very educated opinions about the show and its characters to be found on ALL boards. I've read some pretty insightful posts at TWOP. I've also read some really deep stuff at Sweet and K-Site too. If you follow a board long enough, you learn what to expect from the regs, so you either skip over those people's posts or you seek them out.

Back to Craig's spoiler - he said the twist was something that excited him. I'm not sure Bizarro expressing feelings for Chloe would excite Craig. Plus it's OOC for Bizarro. He'd go after Lois if that were the case. That said, I do think Bizarro is involved in some way, and I have a feeling there will be a lot of misdirection. Furthermore, since Craig said he wasn't allowed to reveal the twist, my guess is that it's bigger than one character being mislead. If Bizarro is involved, I think the twist would be something like him impersonating Clark - and both the audience and the other characters are not in on that knowledge till the end of the episode.

There's other possibilities too. Craig said some people would be unhappy with the specific twist, but he didn't indicate on what grounds. Take Reckoning, for example. The twist was everything getting "undone" by the second half of the episode, but not everybody liked that. So I wonder if Gemini will be an episode in the vein of Reckoning, where they pull a Groundhog Day like twist on Clark and Jor-El shows him various outcomes of an event with and w/o Clark's presence? The bomb in the elevator and Lois holding a gun on Lex amps up the need for Clark in a who-do-you-save-first kind of way. There could be a lesson learned there.

I don't think the 'ships play into Craig's excitement since he's never come off (to me) as being that affected by it. Plus he's already said he thinks the Clark/Lana 'ship will continue, so for the fans of that 'ship, I really don't think this twist has much to do with Clark and Lana per se.

I know Craig likes Chloe, so maybe the twist involves her in some way - maybe her Krypto power. TWOPers aren't big on the "tears of suck," so perhaps that gets undone in Gemini and that's what would make them happy? I dunno. There's a lot of things that might make Craig *and* the TWOPers happy w/o necessarily being to the detriment of other fan's opinions.

Personally, I don't want to get caught up in the excitement over this twist. The more I hear about it, the more I get riled up for it until I'm let down. That's my fault actually. So I'm going to stay neutral on this and not get excited. I remember reading spoilers for Justice and getting excited about it, until I saw it and felt a bit let down. It didn't measure up to my expectations. Again, though, that was my fault for building the episode up in my head.

Hah! Oh crap, so much for my Reckoning analogies and Groundhog Day theories...

Craig said:
I don't really want to ruin any of the possible theories, but I do want to say that you should remember the "Groundhog Day" plot device has already been done, in "Reckoning." Yeah, they recycle plots on the show sometimes, but to recycle one of their most famous episodes? I'm not totally sure how that would work.

This whole "keep the surprise" thing might be rendered pointless if "Gemini" airs early in Canada. Though it's one of those things where it might be best to avoid the spoilers, because you might grumble and then be like "OH YEAH!" when the twist occurs.
So um... I got nuthin' at this point LOL. Only thing I can think of is that Bizarro impersonates Clark and the reveal doesn't happen till the end, thereby giving it that M. Night Shyamalan twisty goodness. I hope nobody spoils it beforehand. I think I'd like to be surprised with this one.

According to a Canadian friend, "Gemini" is supposed to air Dec. 12 (Wednesday) on the A-Channel*, so I may know beforehand what's the big deal with the twist. ;)

*Unless there's a change in the programming, A-Channel is inconsistent sometimes (is just a Canadian regional network).

Why? He didn't say what the twist was, it may not be what you think at all.

I do realize that. I'm basing my concerns on what he did say though, which I believe is allowed when we're all dancing in speculation land.

Oh, come on.. you're telling me the Chlois stuff doesn't make you cringe? There is a group mindset at all the big boards, it's silly to try and deny. Are there always exceptions to the rules? Of course. I don't post very often at Sweet because I'm also a Lois fan and it's NOT a Lois-friendly atmosphere. So yes, there are always exceptions, that doesn't change the overriding group mentality that exists though. If TWOP was the only SV board on the 'net, I'd still avoid it like the plague - too many bullies and really hateful people there, and I'm not talking about just the Lana haters. I'm just as sure there are exceptions there as well, but not enough to make it worth dealing with the general atmosphere.

Are we so sure that this Bizarro is the same as the comic version in being opposite Clark in all things? If so, I'd think he'd go after Chloe - which really.. if I were a Chloe fan, I'd find that pretty upsetting. That would really reinforce that the real Clark doesn't love Chloe if Bizarro does. I think Clark's real feelings for Lois are far more positive than he shows at this point, so Bizarro wouldn't necessarily go for her.

I don't have the exact quote right here, but his comments were very anti-Clana, IMO.

I can't imagine how they'd undo her meteor powers. I'm just clueless on this one, but I still would rather not known that this is something that is going to make the TWOP crowd happy because that leaves me thinking it's something negative to do with Lana. Hating Lana is the driving force over there - in GENERAL. :p

Sorry, I was just trying to make you feel better:). I wouldn't worry too much if you're afraid it has something to do with Chloe.

I totally agree, the general atmosphere at twop is quite pathetic, a lot of stupidity and some few well-thought comments.

Craig confirmed Chloe will use her powers before the end of the season, which means by the 15 ep. because of the strike. Her powers are here to stay, it gives her another potencial role now that we have Lois working in the DP.

Here's the spoiler I'm talking about:

Chloe WILL use her "meteor freak" powers again before season's end. (And by "season's end" we mean in the first 15 shows)

Oh, don't apologize, I probably sounded snippier than I meant to be in my reply, so I'm sorry. I really am just speculating and worrying, probably for no reason, but I just really am having withdrawal for a new SV ep, and I hate being worried that something I'm not going to like is going to happen. It takes the edge off my excitement.

To be honest, I don't actually care if it's Chloe related so much, I'm more worried that it's going to be something adverse for Lana. But I'll deal... as always. It's what we do. ;)

I wonder... perhaps this is going to be Chloe related, and like Pat speculated, maybe she will use her power, but it won't work. Could it be that her power was a one-time use only? Maybe her Krypto-tear tank is now on E?

Is Jimmy in future spoilers? R'uht, r'oh! ;)

What if the twist is that we finally learn that Jor-el is the Eradicator???

has anyone seen this yet?...this was said to be released along with the teaser trailer we got not to long ago

There's been speculation about that for years... I'd certainly be surprised if that turned out to be the case. As long as they delved into a bit, at least, and helped try to reconcile the "mean" (caves) Jor-El and the "good" (Fortress) Jor-El with that new revelation, I'd be happy.

Now did I read a spoiler somewhere, maybe one of Craig's posts, that the caves and all that mythology would start to make some sense in the next few episodes.

Maybe its something related to the 100 yr old kryptonian?

Hoo Ha! Sounds good to me

looks like a family reunion coming out party in that middle pic there.

Some yawn-worthy stills for this one.

LOL! You crack me up, Jana. Thanks for sharing all these pics (even if you are yawning at them.) :D

I wondered the same thing. Maybe they are giving Lois the story of Grant/Julian?

is it just me or do the two luthors look a like with those suits?

^ I guess that's the point since they're brothers.
