7.09 - Gemini - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Official Description.

“SMALLVILLE” — (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET)
“Gemini” (TV-PG, V) (HDTV)
CHLOE REVEALS TO JIMMY THAT SHE IS A METEOR FREAK — Clark (Tom Welling) returns to Smallville from the Fortress and tells Lana (Kristin Kreuk) that Kara (Laura Vandervoort) is gone. Clark tells Lana they should team up to being Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) down, so she gives him all the information she’s gathered so far, including a report on a man named Adrian (guest star Tim Guinee), who was infected with an alien substance. Adrian secretly plants a bomb on Chloe (Allison Mack) and tells Lois (Erica Durance) if she doesn’t get Lex to admit the truth about his experiments with 33.1, he will detonate the bomb. Chloe, thinking she is about to die, confesses to Jimmy (Aaron Ashmore) that she is a meteor freak. John Glover also stars. Whitney Ransick directed the episode written by Caroline Dries (#3T6309).

That sounds awesome.

I have doubts that Clark is really Clark. Just doesn't sound like him. He had no interest all Season in anything that Lex was up to. I can only see 2 possible scenarios here.

Either the consequences Clark had to endure thanks to daddy dearest changed him drastically.

Or the real Clark is actually out looking for Kara. While Bizarro somehow comes back and poses as Clark. If he does so convincingly I wouldn't doubt that this is one of the twists. Lets say real Clark comes back from looking for Kara at the end of the episode and only then people find out it's Bizarro.

Or better yet have the audience find out by the end of the episode that it's Bizarro. But the characters don't know by then. It would be a twist to be resolved after the break.

I love this speculation, and I can totally see that happening. There's no way Clark would indulge Lana in her quest for vengeance against Lex all of a sudden. Even if it's phrased as taking Lex down for all he's done against mutants, it seems far too targeted a thing for Clark to suddenly want to do, especially since Lex really has been laying low for a while now.

The twin implication in the name seems to support Bizarro coming back and taking on Clark's identity to find Lex's vast kryptonite stores (which we'll just assume he has since every single experiment seems to use it as the key ingredient. :D)

I'm wondering what the big cliffie is going to be with Chloe? Certainly she won't go boom, but something related to her power to bring back the dead maybe? Wasn't this the ep. the one that Craig said something would happen to make the TWOP ilk happy? Perhaps someone else goes boom and Chloe has to save them?

I'm still trying to figure out what the heck would make that crowd so happy. Oh well, I haven't posted there in so long I have no idea what's going on over there anyway.

I don't go there either, but I'm fairly sure that Lana dying a slow painful death would be number one on their wish list. Chloe somehow becoming Lois Lane and Clark suddenly discovering that he's been blind all these years and she's the REAL love of his life would be second. Not sure about third - maybe Lois dying too?

Sorry. Perhaps things have mellowed there, I'm sure there are some sane people there, but that was the prevailing atmosphere when I used to check things out there now and then. I try to never go there anymore, not even to read Omar's "reviews."

Don't worry about it, I'm a chronic worrier. Yeah that place was beyond crazy the last time I went over. The worst part was they all act like they know what they are talking about and at least 75% of them don't, and it's not just the chlois nonsense. Some of them really seemed to have no knowledge of any of this at all beyond Smallville and SR:o . I just couldn't see the point in arguing with them anymore.

I used to post on twop, but I got tired of their BS and nonsense, they bash and insult the actors, producers, writers.... but then you are not allowed to bash the haters and give them a dose of their own medicine, very hypocritical indeed. A lot of posters there are so stupid, they contradict themselves constantly. :whatever:

Regarding the "Gemini" OD, I agree something "bizarre" is going on with Clark. Is the Clark who returned the same or is someone else? It could be Bizarro, but Kal-El is another option. Personally, I prefer Kal-El, is more subtle and doesn't have the handicaps Bizarro has with sunlight and getting too "psycho" and out of control. We know Kal-El is tougher than Clark cause he doesn't hold back, and he can fly too. A Kal-El vs Bizarro showdown could be so freaking cool, I wonder if our friend Jana has a clue of who could it be, I hope we get something before "Gemini" airs, waiting till Dec. 13 is a killer! :D

Is this on tomorrow? Or do they take a break from Thanksgiving?
Sorry to be the bringer of bad news, but there's a Hilary Duff movie airing in SV's time slot on Thanksgiving. There will be SV repeats in the weeks to follow until Gemini airs on December 13th.

Hey now! If that happens, I called it. :D

I'm wondering what the big cliffie is going to be with Chloe?
Craig didn't specify the twist would involve Chloe, just that it would make the TWOPers happy. He's pretty excited about it too. The more I think about it, it's probably Bizarro-related, because Craig geeked out like a six year old when Bizarro's face cracked at the end of Phantom.

'Rene, I have to tell ya, this post cracked me up. I mean, dripping monitor and everything. Too damn funny girl, 'cause it's true.

Sorry. Perhaps things have mellowed there,
I venture over once in a blue moon and read for amusement. It hasn't changed. But it's the same everywhere - just different characters praised and bashed. Every site has its own personality. I remember thinking the Hype was brutal when I first read here. Compared to K-Site, it was a whole 'nutha world. Whoda thunk I would have called this place home back then? The mind boggles LOL.

I'm sure there are some sane people there, but that was the prevailing atmosphere when I used to check things out there now and then. I try to never go there anymore, not even to read Omar's "reviews."
Omar's reviews are WAY too long. I don't have the patience, though I have read a few recaps of episodes I really enjoyed, just to laugh at the snark. His wrap up of Vengeance caught me by surprise - probably because it caught him by surprise - and I still laugh to this day at his "slab-o-man" drool-worthy comments about Clark. Haa! Dude's funny.

Not to get too off topic, but I had to go fetch this excerpt from Noir 'cause it's that good:

Omar said:
Chloe starts to walk off, but a big lunk of manliness runs into her. It's Clark Kent, wearing big black-framed glasses and a tie plus suspenders. Nerd! He drops a bunch of little papers and apologizes. Clark stands and sees that Chloe spilled coffee on herself. He says that they haven't even met yet and he's already ruined her blouse. Jimmy watches as Clark makes a big show of dabbing her boobs with a napkin trying to clean her up. I think this is frowned upon even today in the workplace. Chloe just smiles at him and doesn't move to slap. "This is very..." he says. It's all right. Even back then, they knew Clark was a little...not very straight. Chloe just smiles. Clark awkwardly introduces himself. He adjusts his glasses. Chloe says it's quite all right. She gives him a little flirty glance as he goes to a desk and attacks a typewriter with two fingers...
Baahaa! Okay, 'nuf o dat. :hyper:

...I just couldn't see the point in arguing with them anymore.
Sometimes it's not worth arguing with folks, especially over entertainment and subjective opinion. On those issues, there really is no right or wrong - just preference. There's also perception. I think we've all had moments where we were discussing SV with somebody on line and wondered, "holy parallel universe Batman, are we watching the same show?" LOL That's when it's time to pick up your marbles and find another battle elsewhere, 'cause you're only beating yourself over the head debating with those folks, y'know?

I used to post on twop, but I got tired of their BS and nonsense, they bash and insult the actors, producers, writers.... but then you are not allowed to bash the haters and give them a dose of their own medicine, very hypocritical indeed.
Well, technically, that's not allowed here either. You can bash the actors, producers and writers all you want, but bashing other users for their opinions is a no no.

A Kal-El vs Bizarro showdown could be so freaking cool
Ah! Very nice. I like that idea. I think Bizarro would be toast pretty quickly in that situation though, because unlike Clark, re-programmed Kal-El doesn't hold back, and Bizarro is probably more braun than brain. Still wouldn't mind seeing a good fight though, short though it'd probably be. (What else is new, right? LOL)

Welcome to the Hype, Mikelus! :)

what if the clark is Kal-El and vthe real clark returns in Traveler?

Thanks for the welcome! ;)
On SHH there's more freedom of expression, is more balanced here.

The twist is very intriguing, then we have the "I'm so happy I could fly" from Clark on "Persona", the episode after "Gemini". Something is wrong with this "Clark", either he's Kal-El, Bizarro... hope we get some leak info soon.

There's also the possibility that the Clark that returns is in fact, BRAINIAC!

Brainiac has the ability to mimic...

I was just about to type this when I scrolled down and saw you'd beaten me to it. GMTA!

That would be highly entertaining, but how would Bizarro know ...?

All that said, it would be a hoot to see 'cause they could milk some fangasms through Clark's subtle but OOC behavior ... kissing Chloe ...

I vote for Bizarro returning and kissing Chloe and Lois - and they make vampire cracks, because he wants to stay out of the sun - or Kal returning and doing the same - but then we wouldn't get the vampire cracks.

Here's a question: if the "Clark" who returns turns out to be Brainiac, which if any of the women would he pursue while in Clark form? Or would he give himself away by trying to harm/kill one or more of them?

Just realized that the guest star for this episode, Tim Guinee, has a really familiar face and name. I checked his imdb to see what I know him from and it's from a small Canadian production called "Strange World" that Peter Wingfield had guest-starred in. I think I still have the VHS tapes. :O

Did anyone else see the promo clip for this episode after Bizarro tonight? It went pretty fast, but a slo-mo'd by frame with tivo. They edited it to look like Lois shoots Lex but I'm sure they're just playing with us as always. ;)

It's weird how they say the bomb was planted on Chloe, but then you see the bomb in a package. Unless maybe Chloe was carrying the package when she gets on that elevator with Jimmy?

Good God Smallville, why is it always with Chloe? Poor girl needs a break.

It appears as if she's being prominently featured in this episode with a pivotal part of the storyline. Seems like a good thing for Chloe fans to me.

Personally, I would have liked to have seen more CLARK in that promo, he was barely a blip.

Oh don't get me wrong, I do love Chloe screentime and I will take as much as I can but it always seems like something bad is happening to her.

That's true about Clark, I remember when this show used to be about him...

I think we have enough of clark. I still like to see the other characters.

Don't hurt him, Rene. He didn't know any better. :wow: :oldrazz:

I'm a girl :oldrazz:

But anyway, I don't hate Lana that much anymore, it's an early days of fandom reflex... She barely even gets storylines now and I know how painful it is for fans.
