The Dark Knight 7 Minute Prologue of The Joker attached to IMAX screenings of 'I Am Legend'

It´s moments like this I hate that I don´t have Imax theaters anywhere near where I live... I´d give an arm to see these IMAX shot scenes...

i would have to drive like 6-8 hours to maybe watch the movie in imax. and even then it would be dubbed.
i hate my life :csad:

I've got my pickings of IMAX theatres though I doubt I'll be heading out the 14th. Sometime later for sure though.

Theres only one near me, up in London, and here's hoping they show the prologue there too :]

Don´t even get me started on dubbing... Now all Fox´s cable channel shows in Brazil are dubbed and I´m forced to watch 24 or Dexter or Nip/Tuck dubbed... Listening to Jack Bauer yelling at terrorists lost half of the fun...

I guess the picture will not fit on widescreen movie theater screens, because the IMAX image is taller than wider. So to fit it in a movie theater they'll have to cut the top and bottom of the image off, right?
No. When he said taller than it is wide he meant before processing. After processing the frame will be in the 16:9 or 2.35:1 widescreen aspect ratio. The IMAX camera just starts out with more versatility, it still gets widdled down like any other footage.

GEEZE
this is why i quit coming to the tdk spoilers forum...... a bunch of punk n00bs making threads where they don't belong not to mention most of the poiintless post they leave also.

..... WHY IS THIS IN THE SPOILER FORUM!? honestly do you people know what a spoiler is anymore?

Actually, no. I think you are thinking anamorphic, which, on film is squished to 4/3, but then the lense stretches it back to 2.35:1.

Although IMAX may squish unsquish, but the regular IMAX ratio is still a slightly wider than tall ratio, but it is still very squarish. I am not certain what he was talking about with it being taller than wider, unless he was referring to how the film strip is run horizontally, rather than vertically, like traditional film. In which case, what usually is the height of a frame becomes the new length, and vica versa, which, if you were still looking at the proportions from the traditional film format, could be considered taller than wider, but the image would be on its side.

Now, from what I understand, the scenes shot on IMAX will be shown in IMAX aspect ratio. Although this will be nice to make full use of the screen and the format, I am apposed to switching ratios mid film, and then back again.

Mind you, they could just use an anamorphic lense, which would allow full use of the IMAX film, but NOT full use of the IMAX screen.

WELLLLL, technically, you could consider the fact that they are doing IMAX filming in and of itself to be a spoiler. It is, however, one that you have to know about to truly fully experience it. Unless you were just choosing to see TDK in IMAX anyways, then you would just be surprised when it happens.

Well I thought I would get footage I guess I was wrong Oh well it was still fun, I wonder if they shot the IMAX scenes with a normal camera as well so that we dont have problems in normal theaters. That would make sense to me.

WHY DON'T YOU POST THIS STORY IN THE NON-SPOILER FORUM? OR LOOK AT THE MAINPAGE?

See, I can post in annoying caps, too.

When I saw BB on Imax, the aspect ratio was consistent throughout. Black bars on top and bottom. Kinda defeated the purpose for me.

Yo, that joker truck throws rockets, man this is bad ass. This will definetly hold me up until december 14th, and the falling on batman, he felt on top of a police car, slow down the frames, you can see the sirens light at the bottom. Did anyone saw a car blow up in broad daylight? It confirms what eric roberts said about maroni, his death will be dramatic. Man this is super duber SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THe hype has begun, let the love begin!

Yes, but that was Begins. It did not have anything shot specifically for IMAX. So essentially it was just a slightly larger than normal screen. And kick a$$ sound.

But stuff shot specifically for IMAX has a different aspect ratio, which will take up the whole IMAX screen.
