It´s moments like this I hate that I don´t have Imax theaters anywhere near where I live... I´d give an arm to see these IMAX shot scenes...

No. When he said taller than it is wide he meant before processing. After processing the frame will be in the 16:9 or 2.35:1 widescreen aspect ratio. The IMAX camera just starts out with more versatility, it still gets widdled down like any other footage.I guess the picture will not fit on widescreen movie theater screens, because the IMAX image is taller than wider. So to fit it in a movie theater they'll have to cut the top and bottom of the image off, right?
GEEZE
this is why i quit coming to the tdk spoilers forum...... a bunch of punk n00bs making threads where they don't belong not to mention most of the poiintless post they leave also.
..... WHY IS THIS IN THE SPOILER FORUM!? honestly do you people know what a spoiler is anymore?
Don't get your panties in a bunch princess.

Actually, no. I think you are thinking anamorphic, which, on film is squished to 4/3, but then the lense stretches it back to 2.35:1.
Although IMAX may squish unsquish, but the regular IMAX ratio is still a slightly wider than tall ratio, but it is still very squarish. I am not certain what he was talking about with it being taller than wider, unless he was referring to how the film strip is run horizontally, rather than vertically, like traditional film. In which case, what usually is the height of a frame becomes the new length, and vica versa, which, if you were still looking at the proportions from the traditional film format, could be considered taller than wider, but the image would be on its side.
Now, from what I understand, the scenes shot on IMAX will be shown in IMAX aspect ratio. Although this will be nice to make full use of the screen and the format, I am apposed to switching ratios mid film, and then back again.
Mind you, they could just use an anamorphic lense, which would allow full use of the IMAX film, but NOT full use of the IMAX screen.
When I saw BB on Imax, the aspect ratio was consistent throughout. Black bars on top and bottom. Kinda defeated the purpose for me.
