The casino part where Tommy is throwing the coins and stuff at his dads face is so fudged up. It did make me really dislike his character there but like you guys mentioned the quick redeeming and showing that he felt bad was an incredible scene.

Such a great movie.

It's hard for me to take Nolte seriously. He was good but I think that Hardy was better.

You are wrong there...Nolte's performance was powerful...Hardy was a brute with emotion...It was tough doing what Nolte did in those emotional scenes with each of his sons

Im glad they redeemed his character quickly by having him hug his dad and taking the bottle away, That scene and the end scene where tommy was in the choke hold and his brother said I love you made the movie for me and really drove home what it was about.

I just kept wanting to scream at tommy and say wake up already and move on.
I was almost in tears at the end.

still pissed off about extremely close and incredibly loud getting a best picture nomination

is this the lowest rated film on RT getting a pest picture nomination?

it currently hold a 48% on RT

while films like Warrior(83%),Drive(93%),50/50(93%),Deathly Hallow Pt2(96%) should of taken that spot

Befuttles me pretty much on every level and I know most of the critics on rotten tomatoes are top critics. Good thing is I know most of the movies not nominated will be remembered for years to come regardless.

If Oscar posters told the truth:awesome:

Cosmo deserves the same love and attention as Uggie. :o

Man, what's sad is that Andy Serkis didn't get nominated. Hopefully it doesn't take the Academy a long time to recognize motion capture.

They won't.
If for example Serkis would've worn a ape costume and they would've used just regular filming tricks like blue screen filming for the shots of the babe ape , then Serkis would've probably been nominated for a Best actor award.
As it it is , digital animation just requires work from animators.

My favorite is sill the one for The King's Speech last year. :hehe:

I know I am probably going to be in the minority for this but....I'm not convinced yet that George Clooney is a good actor :o
He keeps playing the same character, himself, in a different scenario...and of course the academy keeps eating it up.

i wholeheartedly disagree that George plays the same character. In the Descendants, he loses his trademark grin, his smooth and suave persona for an old weary tired guy. Syriana, Up in the air, Michael clayton, etc., he has made some good films and great performances.

Yeah, I like George. He was nails in Syriana. I'm still not interested in The Descendants though.

The Descendants is a good film but it's not Oscar material in any way.

Im still really surprised by Hill's award love. I liked him in it. I like Hill in general, but over Ezra Miller or Albert Brooks is really weird to me

There are a good number (dozens, probably) of actors that should've been nominated over Hill. :o

Ezra Miller dammit.

Im so surprised he hasnt been nominated for anything. He was chilling

He was the lead in that wasnt he?

Though there were some good supporting actors in that
