I think Candie and Belfort are two of his best characters.

Eh Candie wasn't that good. It's a shame Michael B. Jordan isn't getting more recognition for Fruitvale Station

I'm sticking with Team Ejiofor for the Lead Actor win. It's such an understated performance. Lead Actor is so insane this year. No matter who the 5 nominees are, it's already guaranteed that someone great and deserving will be snubbed. :waa:

I hope Gravity and 12 Years A Slave win all the big ones.

Fruitvale Station got released too early. So did Lee Daniels The Butler, but Oprah could get an Oscar nomination because well....she's Oprah.

About 12 Years a Slave:

- We know that a majority of that cast will be fine. We don't know about Lupita Nyong'o and her future. I can say that she has a brighter future than Barkhad Abdi, who's looks could limit him.

Hoping these would win, have watched all the frontrunners except Nebraska and Philomena.

I like him, but I personally don't feel like he deserved to win any of the years he was up for it. And I don't think he deserves it over Chiwetel or McConaughey this year, either.

Yeah, I love Leo as an actor, but he hasn't had one absolutely incredible performance that really has me feeling like he's ever been snubbed. His best performances to me are in Gilbert Grape, Django and Wolf.

With Grape, he was better than the winner, (Tommy Lee Jones in The Fugitive), but he wasn;t the most deserving of the award. Ralph Fiennes should have won for Schindler's list that year. It's a snub of Ralph, not Leo.

Last year, Tommy Lee Jones, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Christoph Waltz were all very worthy of the award and I can't argue against Waltz. I think Leo got snubbed a nomination that year with Django, but not a win. He was certainly not the clear cut best supporting actor that year.

Now with Wolf, its a huge year for lead actors, with Ejiofor, Joaquin, Dern, Redford, Hanks, and Mcconaughey, giving incredible performances. I think Belfort is DiCaprio's best performance, but again, its such a strong year, I wouldn't consider it a snub if he doesn't win.

Wow, I can't believe Hanks got overlooked twice. I thought he was a shoe in at least once. Surely Amy Adams is going to win Actress, I mean there are some good performances but the rest have all won previously.

Christian Bale is a surprise for me sure he was great in AH but the Best Actor category was stacked.

Hope Amy Adams wins but I doubt it.

I'm also going for a Picture/Director split this year. The fact American Hustle got love in all 4 acting categories says a lot to me.

Ugh, of course American Hustle has nominations where it has no business belonging. Director, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Original Screenplay, even Best Actor.

I mean Cooper? Come on. You might as well nominate Renner.

Not really. He was definitely one of the ones who were pretty much locked in.

I think you'll find most pundits didn't pick him. Hustle got way more love than I expected.

I'm very pleased to see Barkhad Abdi nominated. As well as Jonah Hill.

And Leo. I didn't expect that but that's a welcome addition. I'm rooting for McConaughey though.

All the acting categories are tough to pick this year. There doesn't appear to be any particular favourite going in for each of the four categories.

Can someone tell me where Philomena came from? Talk about left field.

It had a lot of things going for it, Dench + Weinsteins, it's a crowd pleaser but I'm quite surprised it manages to nab a picture nomination.

Just realized this is the second year running an O'Russel film has scored nominations in all acting categories. I guess the lesson here is if you want an Oscar nod get working with O'Russel.

I'm surprised. After seeing American Hustle, I was figuring he'd be one of the shoo-in's, especially with the Oscar's history of loving O Russell's acting performances in movies in recent times.

I still find it surprising how much love Jennifer Lawrence is getting for American Hustle. I didn't hate her performance but I just don't think her performance was as Oscar Worthy as Winter's Bone or SLP, even with this being best supporting actress.

Not happy that Oprah was snubbed she was excellent in 'The Butler'. I am happy with ALL of 12 yrs a slave's nominations. I also love that Dench is nominated.
