Throw in some Godiva chocolates and you've got yourself a deal! :D

The Rock joke was cool. :) I'm just puzzled as to why they'd pick Chris Rock, I mean, he's talented and everything but he hasn't exactly been high profile in Hollywood lately.

I dunno. Hopefully this will boost his profile, because I like the guy.

They should have had him host last year after Top Five came out and rode the momentum a bit.

Anyone found any roundtable discussions for this year's race? I only found one from the Hollywood Reporter but that's just the producers.

Are WB pushing for Stallone to get a Best Supporting Actor nod for Creed, because they should be.

Also, I've said it before and I'll say it again; Best Actor this year will come down to a three-way Mexican standoff between Eddie, Leo, and Fass.

You know, when people complain about high-budget franchise/sequel films taking over Hollywood while independent movies are suffering, and how Oscar-baity movies are better movies than Hollywood summer blockbuster shlock, I cringe. I cringe really hard. I hardly like these 4th quarter awards season films anymore, because I'm being manipulated into appreciating some social issue or some boring untold holocaust story. I want to see robots and aliens blowing crap up. Seriously, screw the oscars. I haven't seen any of them in like two years. Bring on more Marvel and DC and Star Wars and 007. Entertain me. Don't show me Tilda Swinton crying snot bubbles out of her nose. Give me robots.

Never change, Rocketman.

Eddie Redmayne in drag is more hnnnnngh than Daisy Ridley, tho. :o

A story that is a period piece about the first transgender?

Edddie, enjoy Oscar number 2.

As much as I love cinema as a whole, I'm starting to find that most mainstream films aren't individual or even weird enough. They don't show a spark of originality you see with much more hidden cinemas from other countries. Maybe I'm just fed up, I hope that the oscars nominates some interesting films!

Also Eddie Redmayne's film looks too much like oscar bait. :o

IMO only a video of Leo killing a puppy while bathing in babies' blood will stop him this year. The Oscar's is his this year. Finally. It's time.

I think Redmayne will get in but given what we know now I think his chances are being overestimated. The film wasn't the cultural juggernaut we thought it would be.

I'm actually more curious with the actress race. Will they give Lawrence another one or give it to Larson or Ronan?

Lawrence gets nominated but she aint winning for Joy.

As for Eddie he'll be working his arse off schmoozing the voters. Maybe send Rolex watches this time to Academy voters.

Call me crazy, but I think this loss might be the one to cause Leo to say "**** this", and retire from acting. Especially given the crazy stuff he did for The Revenant.

It should be Larson, but it's probably gonna be Lawrence. Because they're determined to make her the new Meryl Streep. Except she'll win most of her noms.

Lawrence isn't even a good actress. She just happens to be the It Girl of the moment. I have no idea why they keep nominating her. She's obnoxious. They keep shoving her down our throats, and we're supposed to feel bad that she stupidly took naughty pictures on her phone and saved them in the cloud where it's 0% secure. 1970s/1980s Meryl Streep would be totally insulted that this is what we consider Oscar worthy talent.

If Redmayne gets another Oscar for a decent at best Oscar bait role, there'll be heck to pay. Chris Rock will be the least of their worries! Leo will be starting a riot in the aisles! :o

The subject matter is just rife for acclaim, even if it's undeserving.

Theory of Everything was boring as hell to me, but come on...his role was not "decent at best" I'd say that about Felicity JOnes but not him by a long shot

I agree. Redmayne got a lot of hate last season because he was too obviously thirsty for that Oscar but IMO his performance was great. We've seen worse performances win than his'.

Most of the "Oscar-bait" stuff aren't the independents suffering. It's the Ex Machina's, Me, Earl and The Dying Girl's, the Cop Car's ect. These aren't issue films. I hate Oscar-bait and I think Tom Hopper is a bigger crime to cinema than Michael Bay is, but true independent cinema is amazing. The Oscars typically give awards to films that aren't blockbusters, but they aren't great cinema, either. They are often these awkward in-between films, that are bland and forgettable. If you go to a lot of serious film sites, they have a very similar opinion on the Oscars as you, just on the other end of the spectrum. The Oscars are safe, boring, ****.
